i am not able to get any video files on to my i touch.it is giving a message that this format cant be played on your i pod.how to install videos and movies on to my i touch

Videos must be in a format that iTunes and the iPod can accept. See:

If your videos are not on the appropriate format, you'll have to convert them. Search this forum for "video convert" and you should find a number of threads about converting videos for use with an iPod.

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions.
If you wish to auto sync you video content:
Select the iPod you are syncing to on the left hand pane under Devices. Choose the Movies tab, check Sync Movies and then check the content you want.
If you wish to manually manage content:
Select the iPod you are syncing to on the left hand pane under Devices. Choose the Summary tab and check "Manually manage music and videos". Then drag and drop content to the iPod's icon on the left hand side.

The easiest and most efficient way to copy your music is to follow the steps under the External drive section. Make sure that you have organized the iTunes library first before you copy it over. Then put the copied iTunes folder in the same Music folder on your computer.

Since updating to 7, videos and movies won't play

I just uploaded the latest version of iTunes. Since doing so yesterday, the videos and movies I had in my Library won't play. I get the sound, but all I get for a picture is colors. Anyone know how to debug? How do I get to view my videos again?

First thing to check would be system requirements,
Right click on My Computer click on Properties,
Near the bottom it will say what processor and Ram are.
For all video to play properly iTunes / Quicktime requires 2.0+ GHz Pentium Class processor and 512MB Ram and 32MB Video Ram.
If you do meet the system requirements, You may want to try uninstalling / reinstalling Quicktime.
Start...Control Panel...Add Remove Programs
Remove Quicktime
Open My Computer
Browse to c:\Program Files\ and delete the Quicktime folder.
Go to http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html and make sure that QuickTime 7.1.3 for Windows 2000/XP is selected.
Download and install, After install, restart and test.
Hope that works.

I try to delete these extra insertions, but the mouse will not release the clip.
Action I’ve taken: I’ve re-installed Premiere Elements 13. Problem remains.

I tried using the Guest Account on my Mac. In the Guest Account, Illustrator works perfect!
Then I started wondering what processes (tools/tweaks) I run by default on my account. Turned out the problem was called by a little background tool called RightZoom. RightZoom let's the green 'zoom' button always maximize your current window.
So thanks! Problem solved!

It says
To install this component, just drag the File "XviD_Codec 1.0 alpha.component" into Library/QuickTime. Sounds normal to me. The "~/Library/QuickTime" folder is the standard location for user and application installed QT components which are used globally by all account users. On the other hand, the "~/System/Library/QuickTime" folder is where QT components installed by the operating system installer are placed for global use. These instructions appear to be correct.
It is possible that the QuickTime directory does not yet exists. In that case you can create it yourself. Pay attention to capital letters if you use a case sensitive file system (i.e. UFS).
I do not have Library/Quicktime.
Highly unlikely if you are running Mac OS X V10.5.8 as indicated in your posting. As you can see here, when the startup drive is opened at the root level, you should find a minimum of four folders—the "Applications" folder, the "Library" folder, the "System" folder, and the "Users" folder. Without these folders, your computer would be little more than an electrified paperweight.
I do not have Library/Quicktime.
Either you are looking in the wrong place or someone has been playing around on your system (e.g., in the Console app) and made the folder invisible.

Getting videos and movies to play on iPod

I have many videos and movies, mostly mpeg.
I have been waiting 4 hours, since I clicked export save movie for iPod play? This is taking 4ever!
I upgraded to the QT Pro to accomplish this task, and the progess window now shows 28% At this rate it will take me years to save the videos I have - for iPod play!
Any way to speed up? I can only imagine how long it will take a full length movie???

QT Pro is incredibly, incredibly slow - BUT the results are gorgeous and you don't have to fiddle with settings.
If you value speed over image quality, then you will need to download Handbreak.
Before you do, you will need to read the iPod DVD Ripping Guide, which explains the process.
If you want to rip the DVDs you own to your harddrive, get MacTheRipper. Doing so speeds up the process of converting to an iPod-compatible format.

I am new in FCPX.. can someone tell me how to unlink video and audio in FCPX ? and how to mute audio rather than low the -db ?

There's no 'Unlink' audio (as such) in FCP X but if you select a clip in the timeline, and press Shift+Ctrl+S, the audio breaks away from the clip. Select this, and you can toggle it on and off by pressing V.
Take care with this, because it's easy to get the audio out of sync. You need to move the audio and video together if you have to move them, so I would select them both and press Option+G to make them into a Compound Clip (to preserve sync).
To mute the audio embedded in a clip, select the clip in the timeline and press Cmd+4 to open the Inspector.
Click the Audio Tab at the top of the Inspector and uncheck the Audio Waveform(s). Your Audio will be muted.
To mute audio for the entire project, go to the Roles tab in the Timeline Index (next to the film reel icon) and uncheck Audio or Dialogue (as appropriate).

No sound on purchased videos and movies after iTunes upgrade

I have iTunes 10.4.1.10 / Quicktime 7.7 on my desktop, purchased music videos and movies will not play the sound. Non purchased movies play the sound ok ?!?!?
I have iTunes 10.1.2.17 / Quicktime 7.6.9 on a netbook and all play ok.
Suggests that there is a configuration problem that theyare not telling the users about. Please can you advise what the problem is and a solution?

YouTube uses Adobe Flash, maybe you can re-install Flash or right click on the video and check the sound settings

Just use iTunes to import them. Load up iTunes and click on "File", then scroll down to "Import". Browse to where your movie file is and click on it to import it. After this, you will need to resync your iPod in order to get the movie onto it.
