How To Install SSD In MacBook Pro?

Your slow response of the system could be caused by many different factors. From a corrupted install of the OS to faulty hardware in the system.
The only way to test it is to completely erase the drive, Repartition it, and reinstall the operating system, OS X, and all your programs. If after a Clean install of OS X, and selectively installing your programs one at a time, and testing after each install to find out why the system is running so slow. If right after installing the OS the system is slow to respond then it is likely a hardware problem. If it runs fine then it was a software problem.
If you find it is a hardware problem the only thing to do is take the system to Apple for diagnosis and repair or exchange.
If you find it is a software problem then do not install that piece of software.

So I have the Macbook Pro with the Retina display. It does not have a CD-rom slot.
I have a Logic software that I want to install for my laptop. I installed this software on my previous Macbook that had a CD-rom slot.
Does anyone know how to install such a big file/program without having it to do a MacBook Share from another laptop?

If you know someone with one, ask if you can borrow it. Otherwise, using another computer's internal drive is the free way; there is no credit in the Mac App Store for having bought the DVD version of a product.

I have a Macbook Pro Os X 10.6.3 Snow Leopard. I was told that I have a failed hard drive. It costs about $195 for repair at my local shop. I read that I can purchase my own hard drive from BestBuy and have geek squad to install it. The guy says it costs $50 for installation but about $180 to reinstall the system. My question is....is there a good link you could give me for directions to how I can install my own hard drive? Also, when he says install the whole system, what does that mean. I already have my installation disks that came with my Mac. The hard drive that's currently in my Mac is a Western Digital 250GB. Thanks in advance!!!

Thanks for your reply. I let it run and it eventually said that Mac OS X can't be installed on the computer. And that the installer could not install the necessary support files. This was all done on a brand new hard drive and was the exact error given on my previous hard drive. (The one that I was told had failed). I tried installing from a clone of the CD on a USB but it stalls at the blue screen and eventually has a rotating cursor. Do you recommend anything further?? I would appreciate your help, greatly.

You will need a computer to "burn" the CD image onto a USB/thumb drive. I say burn, not copy, because you cannot simply copy the disk image. There are multiple Free OpenSource programs that can copy a disk image onto a thumb drive, so I will not suggest one. Burning an image, rather than copying will delete files on a thumb drive just as it would with a rewritable disk.
If it is an IMG and not an ISO image, I believe you may be able to copy it directly to a thumb drive and mount the image to install the program. You may also mount an ISO that has been copied if you have the correct program, but I would not advise it.
All of this should permitted within the license areement for the most restrictively licensed programs, so long as no copy is left on the computer used to copy the image, you keep the CD only as a backup, you are only using the copy to install a program for which you have a license, and you only install the program on one computer that you own and control.
I am not an attorney and do not work for Adobe, so you should read the license before following my advice to be sure.

Let TimeMachine make a full backup of your ML installation to a different external drive. Then turn of Time Machine.
In Disk Utility, use the + sign at the bottom of the ML partition to add another GUID, HFS+ Journaled partition for Snow Leopard. Resize to taste. Name it differently from your ML partition. Exhale.
Now ideally, you would like to reverse the external clone and put it back into the new SL partition. Then fix permissions. And demonstrate that you can boot into individually stable OS X installations. This would save you alot of work. Resist copying your home directory into ML just yet.
If you cannot successfully achieve the preceding paragraph, you will be faced with a full SL and application reinstall.
The ~/Library contents for SL and ML are sufficiently different that you do not want to mix them. You may want to salvage Safari bookmarks.plist. And, ML created folders in the home directory may have different permissions or ACL settings than in SL. So, my rule of thumb would be to copy folders that you created in SL, and only the contents of matching named OS created folders such as Music, Pictures, Downloads, etc.
For each operating system, you probably want the Time Machine settings to exclude the opposite OS X partition. If you use the same host name in Sharing prefs, then you will mix SL and ML backups on the same Time Machine back up drive. If you use different host names, they will be distinct folders in the Time Machine backups.backupdb and allow discrete restores per host. You may also want to gag Spotlight from indexing the opposite OS X partition.

You'll need to get it all onto one iTunes collection on your Mac Pro, then sync the devices to that. iTunes only lets you transfer purchases from a device, otherwise you have to use third party software.
I guess you could also look into getting iTunes Match.
