How to install Windows on MAC? (Can't see the check box "Install or remove Windows 7 or later version" on Boot Camp Assistant)

I want to install Windows 7 on my MBP mid 2012 but in Boot Camp does not appear the check box: "Install or remove Windows 7 or later version". I continued with making the USB bootable with Windows 7 but then when I restart and boot with the USB I still can't install Windows because then I receive an error: ""Windows cannot be installed on this disk. The selected disk is of GPT partition style."
From OS with Boot Camp I didn't manage to make a partition for Windows instead I made one with Disk Utility (formated FAT).
After booting from USB that partition was also formated into NTFS necessary for Windows. Still the same error.
Any idea how to install Windows on my MAC?

My Windows copy is a X64.

If you are refering to this I tried to update the EFI version (I see only SMC version 2.9 as a diferrence of what I have) but on installing I received an error: "This software is not supported on your system."

How do you close an information window when you can't see the close button?

One of my Macs is a trusty old G3 iMac and since version 8 I've had a problem with the information window you get for podcasts when you click on the 'i' button. The window goes to the full screen height, in fact it goes beyond because you can't see the top and button. Therefore I can't close it with the mouse or move it.
I also can't find a keyboard shortcut that will close this window, so I have to exit iTunes and re-start, which on this machine is a slow process.
Anyone help welcome - is there a keyboard shortcut?

How to join tracks when iTunes can't see the CD

I have a convoluted issue.
From this post <http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=4567334&#4567334> I understand that in order for iTunes to see my CD it needs to be in Standard format. (In my case the files are MP3s and a Windows Executable.... On my windows machine it auto-launched MusicMatch.)
Most of the time, the work-around of selecting the files in the Finder and dragging them to iTunes would be fine.
Unfortunately, the 43 tracks on the CD in question are an audiobook which I'd like to join together as ONE track. From other posts I've read, I understand the only time one can join tracks is when importing from the CD in iTunes.
Since iTunes can't see the CD, is there any other way to join the tracks?
I have several CDs worth of audiobooks and would hate to have 17 gazillion tracks floating around my iTunes and iPod....

I've found a work-around. It's not exactly a zippy process, but in the end I did end up with a conjoined bookmarkable AAC file rather than 43 separate MP3s.
At <http://aldoblog.com/audiobooks/itunes/importing-mp3-cds/> I learned more about the settings needed for importing my tracks to iTunes. Unfortunately, using the .m3u file didn't work for me but it may for others. (I suspect it was because the CD was created with MusicMatch in mind, rather than iTunes.)
The FAQ at aldoblog.com gave me my next ray of hope.

Here I found a link to Doug Adam's "Join Together" which can stitch together tracks after they've been imported into iTunes.

I have a menu(parameter form) with select lists and two check boxes(one option for DD/MM/YY(called CHK_BOX_MTH) and other for Quarter(Called CHK_BOX_QTR)).
If the user selects the check box for month, he should be only be able to select list of values for Month, Day and Year. The user should not be able to choose Quarter(or should be prompted with a message, "Check only one option"). Similarly if Quarter is chosen, DD/MM/YY should be disallowed.
How do I code this validation in HTML DB and where would it reside on the item?
How do I then pass these parameters(Checked box value) using a URL to another page as input?
The query expects the following

The only reason I am not able to use the radio group because I am not able to place the items shown adjacent to Month in the page. The From Date and To date (user enterable fields) should appear to the right of the Month radio button and quarter item to the right of the quarter radio button.

How do I get my Mac Pro to see the second monitor through a video splitter and/or switcher?

In a recording studio we have a Mac Pro with two video display monitors in the control room and we want to be able to show the content of the second monitor to the person in the recording room on a big display monitor there. However, when we interpose a switcher or splitter between the computer and the second monitor so that we can (with a switcher) switch the second monitor signal from the control room monitor to the record room monitor or (with a splitter) split the signal to go to both monitors, we have no luck. On startup the computer does not see the monitor through the switcher, so it doesn't recognize its existence. If we start the computer up without the switcher in the signal chain, it sees the second monitor just fine, and (weirdly enough) we can then change the cabling to interpose the switch, which then works to switch back and forth between second monitors (control room and record room), but that cable swapping's a royal PITA. We want a simple solution that will allow us to start up the computer, see the second monitor in the control room, then choose to show it to the person in the record room with a simple flip of the switch (or even better, split the signal so it's available both places). If you use DVI monitors and any of them have resolutions less than 1920 x 1200 then you can use single link active adapters. The "AMD Eyefinity Validated Dongles" chart shows some active (and passive) adapters that are acceptable. For example of a single link DVI active adapter is the Accell B087B-006B. An example of a dual link DVI active adapter would be the one from monoprice.com if you need to connect monitors with a resolution greater than 1920 x 1200.
I'm doubtful that SwitchResX would be able to convince the computer that there were only two monitors connected and direct the second monitor signal to the correct place, but it certainly seems worth a try, so thanks for the idea! Any other ideas are still welcome in the meantime.
I'm not doubtful. It is a very powerful utility for dealing with all aspects of multiple monitor configurations (they call them "Display Sets") complete with forcing EDID information if necessary. The different configurations can be controlled with a (contextual) menu and/or hot key.
SwitchResX is academic at this point if you want to have all three monitors connected. You would need to get that working first. Then use SwitchResX to vary the configuration combinations. So if you go this route the "name of the game" is figure out the active adapters you need.
I only described in general terms above about the adapters since you never said exactly what kind of connections these monitors require (single link DVI, dual link DVI, hdmi, mini-displayport, vga).

What version of iPhoto? Assuming 09 or later...
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

Some sites are providing encryption certificates , so like ebay, and of course all internet banking sites. Previous versions of Firefox had been shown a symbol in the lower right corner (lock) with more details about the certificate. Is it still availabble, and how?

In Firefox 4 you no longer have the Status bar that showed the padlock in previous Firefox versions.<br />
You can click the [[Site Identity Button]] on the left end of the location bar to see the padlock.
A click on the "More Information" button will show details about the connection.
The background color of the "Site Identity Button" on the left end of the location bar will change color (blue or green) and show the domain in case of a secure https connection.
* Hover the Site Identity Button then to see "Verified by xxxx"
* Click the [[Site Identity Button]] on the left end of the location bar to see the padlock
* Click the "More Information" button in that pop-up to see additional information about the connection.

As mentioned, the "rpm -qa" will show you all the package names on the system. Unless you know what each package is for, you can use this variation to get a one-line description along with the package name:
$ rpm -qa --qf="%{NAME}-%{VERSION}.%{RELEASE}.%{ARCH}\t%{SUMMARY}\n"
It is a lot to type, but put it in a shell script ;-)
