How to install WXP on Satellite P500?

High @ all,
I have an P500 F1J with Win7 pre-installed. The Point is, that I still have a lot of elderly hardware wich i still want to use. Eg my printer. but when ever I want to use it my Notebook crashes with a bluescreen.
So i decided to install Win XP and want to format the system. But when I even try to start the sytem with the original XP-CD it runs always into a bluescreen without the chance to select anything or event type something in.
Does anybody has an idea how can I delete the win7-installation and install my stable XP?
Thanks for your help in advance
Kowkase

> oh my goodness, is there really no driver for this modell in XP available?
No , because it supports Windows 7 only.
Why do you need this old OS? Windows 7 is also very fast and the future.
Furthermore there is a compatible mode for applications they require Windows XP. In my opinion there is no reason for still using Windows XP.

  • Satelite M70: How to install WXP Pro without SP with SATA drivers?

I know this topic is discussed many times,
I get a blue screen when I try to install WXP pro...bla bla bla
The solution is to install SATA drive.
The problem is that I do not have floppy drive to install the SATA drive, so what can I do?

    Hi
The using of the floppy drive is the easiest way to install the SATA or RAID drivers.
But I have searched a little bit in the net and found nLite.
You can use nLite and include the drivers then you don't have to use the
    floppy disk.

  • How to install Win7 on Satellite C870-190?

Hi, I hope I post in the right forum category so...
My laptop is Toshiba Satellite C870-190 and it doesnt want to boot my windows 7 CD.
I tried first with DEL button which open the boot system when I start the notebook and then chose the CD-ROM device and don't want to load the CD and then I chose from F2 the first device on boot section to be the CD-ROM, still don't want to load it..... the final solution I tried to install it from the Windows 8 (current OS) from my computer -> cd-rom -> setup.exe, then click on INSTALL.
My laptop doesnt let me to install it even from Windows.... on the screen say copying files..... and then it give me an error which say the operation failed.... what's going on with this laptop?
How can I format my HDD and then install windows 7?
    Thanks

At the start I must say that I hope you have created recovery media (DVD or USB) before you have started to install Win7.
Back to your Win7 installation. Long time ago Ive installed Win7 on friends U940 and the first step was changing secure boot mode in BIOS settings - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB2C03F80002R01.htm
After doing this Win7 installation has started properly but in my case SATA driver load was necessary.
Please check this at first and send some feedback.

  • How to install Vista on Satellite A300 without recovery disk?

Please I'm in desperate need of help,
My brother purchased new Toshiba A300-23E in Saudi Arabia. He has little knowledge of computers.
It was on the display threre.
He sent it to my father in Pakistan but soon noticed that it was full of virues and he fresh installed Windows xp SP2 after formating hard drive.
He gave that to me for fixing the problem. As it is designed for windows vista. I want to install windows vista but i havent got the recovery disk or any operating disk.
How am i suppose to install windows vista?
Somebody told me that i download vista trail version and enter the key which is on the back of my laptop.
    Anybody having any idea. plz

    > He sent it to my father in Pakistan but soon noticed that it was full of virues and he fresh installed Windows xp SP2 after formating hard drive.
This was a big mistake buddy
The recovery disk was not shipped with the notebook because there was an preinstalled tool called Toshiba recovery disk creator which allows you to create an own recovery disk.
But this is not possible since the HDD has been formatted and all files have been deleted.
Now you would not be able to recover the unit even using the HDD recovery since the files are not available on HDD.
You need a recovery disk and you can order it from here:

  • How to install XP in Satellite A300-1BI with Vista

    Hi,
Few days ago I bought a Satellite A300-1BI with Windows Vista preinstalled. I don't like this OS and I want to degrade to Windows XP and install too my Ubuntu Linux distribution but I can't install no one from them because the hard disk appears as "not connected" on the XP and Ubuntu installation men... It seems like the laptop is made ONLY for Vista, and I think is... pathetic...
Someone can help me? I tried to search information on web, forums, etc, but it seems I'm the only one with this problem.
    Thanks!

Sorry estemon but I cannot believe what you wrote here. This is most asked question in last one year and you can find so many threads here with the same question. In just one minute I found, for example, this one http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=35787
It is about Satellite Pro but the principle is the same.
Check please Satellite A category on this forum and you will find answer to your question.

  • This is a solution - How to install XP on Satellite L40

NOTE: you will need a license for XP Pro SP2(it should work with Sp1 and Home, but runs better on Pro SP2)!
First download and install nLite. http://www.nliteos.com/download.html (Requires .NET Framework 2.0, you can download the .NET Framework from here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=0856eacb-4362-4b0d-8edd-aab15c5e04f5&DisplayLang=en
Now download and extract the slipstream drivers http://files.soulpass.com/acer/slipstream_drivers.zip to a folder like C:\Drivers-temp\
Insert your WinXP install disk, cancel out of the autorun if it pops up.
Start up nLite, click next on the splash screen. Tell it where your CD is. It will ask you to tell it where to cache the files at. You can just use a folder like C:\XP-temp\ for that.
On the Presets screen, click Next again. Now click on the Drivers button, as well as the "Bootable ISO" button, then click "Next"
On the Drivers screen, click Insert, then Multiple Driver Folder. Point nLite to the location where you extracted the slipstream drivers, such as C:\Drivers-temp\ and then click OK.
On the Select multiple drivers to integrate window you'll need to highlight the path at the top (such as C:\Drivers-temp\) by clicking on it once, then click OK.
On the Driver Integration Options window under Textmode integration options highlight the whole list by clicking once on the top item, then shift-clicking once on the bottom item. With that list still highlighted, click OK at the bottom.
Back on the Drivers screen, click Next. The Apply Changes: dialog should pop up, asking if you really want to start the process. Click Yes.
After the processing completes, you'll need to click "Next", at which point youâ'll be taken to the final screen.
On the "Bootable ISO" screen, change the "Mode" drop down menu from "Create Image" to "Direct Burn". Eject your WinXP disk, and insert a blank disk into your burner. For safety's sake, put a check mark next to "Verify".
    Finally, click Burn.
Congratulations, you now have a proper install disk for any Toshiba laptop with S-ATA hdd(actually you can use it on any pc/laptop with S-ATA hdd).
Now you'll need to boot your laptop from that disk. In order to be able to boot from the CD, we'll first need to make a couple of quick changes in the notebooks BIOS. In the BIOS you need to make sure that the first boot device is the DVD-RW drive.
NOTE: Make sure to back up all your data before proceding, since the next step will erase everything.
Reboot the laptop with your new XP cd inserted, after it gets started, windows installer will ask you where you'd like to install Windows XP to: follow the prompts to delete all the current partitions, then follow the prompts to create a new partition, and install Windows XP to that. You can chose the "Quick Format" to speed things up.
Follow the rest of the prompts to windows in the usual fashion.
This solution was originally made for an another manufacturer notebook but I have just filled in where it regards Toshiba.
    http://soulpass.com/2007/11/10/installing-windows-xp-professional-sp2-on-acer-aspire-5315-2153-laptop/
You will need the drivers for your systeme ready when XP finish installing, so make sure to download them before starting on all this, and make a CD so you can use them again. Most Intel chipsets has driver for XP on Intels homepage.
Regarding Atheros then you can find drivers here: http://www.atheros.cz/
Many of the drivers from Toshiba's Vista driver package will work on XP, just read the inf file or readme file.
If you have any questions then let me know.

  • Cannot install WXP on Satellite Pro A300

    Hey guys,
I was hoping I could find some help on these forums. I hope I have posted this in the right place.
A while ago, Windows Vista went crazy on one of my laptops, and I wanted to install XP. (No, you cannot laugh at me). I have the XP Pro SP3 disc.
Although, even the recovery agent that Toshiba has on all of its laptops/computers could not fix these issues I had. I put the XP Pro Sp3 disc into the MAT****A DVD-RAM UJ880AS drive, hoping to use the formating tool on that so it would let me install XP as Microsoft/Windows made it impossible to revert. Anyway, the formatting went all well, and then the installation just came up with billions of errors.
I currently have a Ubuntu Live CD running on it, to make it actually DO something, and its working fine. But i really badly want XP on it.
I think the issue could be BAD SECTORS on the HDD.
    I need help, and input.
Do I buy a new HDD and hope the install works? Do I buy a whole new laptop?
Your help is appreciated like you wouldnt believe. This has been driving me nuts for ages.
    Brock

    Hello.
    1) Check if your compact disc has no scratches.
    2) Make sure that the lens of the DVD drive is clean (dust free). If not perform a cleaning operation by using cotton wool stick and alcohol (make it very accurate and avoid making any micro scratches).
    3) Backup all your data from all partitions. Then start a clean installation of Windows XP. In the setup remove all your existing partitions (make sure that after that you have ONLY unpartitioned space) then create new partitions of preferred size. Format those partitions in NTFS (Quick) mode. Finally, install the system onto partition C.
    That's it.
Good Luck to You, and keep posting your progress.
    Regards,
    Osman.

  • How to install WXP on Portege 3110CT?

    Hallo everybody!!
    I have a problem.
I want to install XP on my "Portege 3110CT". The thing is that I have no floppy drive or cd drive. What I have is a USB-cable that I can connect directly to the hard-drive if I open the computer and take out the hard-drive, and then connect to another computer. When I start the computer it says??s: INSERT SYSTEM DISK IN DRIVE, Press any key when ready....
    What shall I do??
I mean it must be a way to maybe put in the necessary file's in the hard-drive on another computer, or?
    Help me please...

I've just done the same with Win2K on a 3440CT. As far as I know installation of WinXP and Win2K are the same.
I put the hard drive in an external case and followed the instructions here http://www.gamebeat.net/forum/showthread.php?t=1057 to make it bootable in DOS - be careful, it will format the whole hard drive and delete any existing partitions and data.
I then copied the files from the DOS boot disk to the (now bootable) external hard drive (if you are asked whether you want to replace files answer "no"). Now copy the I386 folder from your installation disk to the external hard drive.
If you put this drive back in your laptop it should be able to boot to a DOS prompt, and if you run C:>I386\winnt.exe it should start installation.
For some reason this didn't work for me and I had to install Win98 first (copy the win98 installation folder to the hard drive when it's still in the external case, then run setup from it), then run the 32-bit installer - winnt32 - instead.
    Good luck,
    Neil

  • Satellite P500 - Need Windows 7 drivers and tools

Recently had windows 7 professional 64 bit version installed on my Satellite P500-1DZ laptop but unforturnately all the free toshiba software got wiped off during the install.
I have downloaded all the relevant drivers from the toshiba website I was wondering is their any particular sequence of drivers I have to install to begin with? The other thing is would it matter if I was to install 32bit and 64 bit drivers together or is this likely to cause some kind of conflict? Would appreciate any advice on these two matters?
    Thxs

    Hello
If you use 64bit OS than install 64bit stuff only. By the way: Satellite P500 is not supported for Win7 32bit.
Best option for you is to install OS using recovery DVD, if you have created one. If not, install Win7 64bit using Microsoft installation disc.
All drivers, tools and utilities should be installed as listed below:
    Windows 7

  • How to install wireless on a Satellite 5200-903?

Due to a very bad virus I recovered Windows on a Satellite 5200-903 of a friendly businessman. But back home he saw: no wireless LAN could be used... It seems, that cause the WLAN-switch was "off" no WLAN-driver was installed/recovered...
Now he wants to come to me again tomorrow or the day after tomorrow - and I MUST know, how to install everything until then... he also will bring me his router, so I can configure everything for him on the notebook AND router (WPA, if possible).
But I found TWO drivers: one was a direct download of a small file of "Agere" - wlesslan-xp-7620390.zip
The other is from "Atheros", and the download is a links to another website "Toshiba EMEA - Wireless LAN Driver Portal" http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/wlan/?page=downloads , where I have to identify the WLAN adapter... But: on the first download-site (I mean BEFORE redirected to "Toshiba EMEA") there is at the list "Model" NOT any Satellite 5200.
Which driver is correct? Are there different WLAN-adapters in the 5200-903 series? Is it possible to find out the adapter model BEFORE he gives me the Notebook?
And in the list of drvers for the 5200-903 there was a download "WLAN hotkey" wlkey-xp-2003.zip ? Do I need that too? Do I need any other things?
And does such an "older" WLAN-Access work in another way than the integrated WLAN of a centrino e.g. ? I just know how to log into a WLAN with newer notebooks: button "wireless networks" on the right buttom oft windows, then chose the WLAN name to connect and type in the key, if needed.
Please help me, he lives 100 miles away from me and has not much time, he comes again to me just for that matter, and of course he was not amused when he returned home and couldn't connect to the internet... and he's an ABSOLUTE noob in technical things, so I cannot tell him how to do it on his own and need your help quickly.
    Thanks a lot!

    Hello Herb
I just want to make the whole story short and simply. After installing OS install drivers for hardware components. According the notebook specification for Satellite 5200-903 it is WLAN ready model and I do not know which WLAN card is inside. You friend should have info about that.
If there is Atheros WLAN card the right driver you can find HERE
After driver installation install all Toshiba designed tools and utilities starting with COMMON MODULES. It must be installed at first. WLAN-hotkey utility is important because using FN+F8 key combination you can enable/disable WLAN card.
WLAN software (Atheros WLAN client utility) is not necessary because for WLAN you can use WXP WLAN settings. You can use it if the WLAN card is activated properly.
So I hope you will set WLAN properly and if you need more assistance please write again.
    Bye and good luck!

  • Satellite P500 - Solution how to run the sound on XP 32bit and 64bit

    hi all..
Now I write here how I made something that seems impossible ...
    I mean running sound on a laptop satellite/ qosmio p500/505 300/500
and other models with the Conexant high definition sound card on Windows XP x32/x64 sp2/sp3 ..
I know that many of us have a problem to run any sound at all,
the basic problem is that Windows XP does not have a built-in driver files
are responsible for recognition of the latest sound cards based on high-definition audio.
Last patch to the system kb888111 released by Microsoft aimed to fix this problem was released in 2005
and is not contained in the files that recognize the latest Conexant sound card.
next problem is correct driver. Toshiba has not released XP drivers for the Conexant sound card
for laptop qosmio / satellite 500 / 505 , so you should find and use the drivers from
the manufacturers of other models of computers. most of the drivers and the best have to download Lenovo and Dell.
Personally I used to run the sound in my P500 drivers Downloaded from the Dell web site
most important in the downloaded drivers, then you want to install is to edit .INF file which can be found in the folder
with drivers. This file is a text file so edit it in notepad.
edition .INF file is trailing in the path identifying our equipment.
hardware ID can be found for example in the device manager tab in sound, video and games controllers.
for most newer toshiba laptop hardware id is :
    %HdAudioFunctionDriver.Pebble5071.DeviceDesc% = HdAudModel,HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_14F1&DEV_5069&SUBSY S_1179FFD4
but it may vary so please check it in your computer !!!
Those who managed to run the sound will certainly have to contend with another problem,
after restarting the computer has no sound and the computer loses the drivers and settings
and next to the watch does not appear on the speaker icon. This problem is also solved by me below.
    Now to work ..
I assume that you have already installed XP x32 or x64, but not yet run a sound.
to run the sound, install the driver from the chipset, then the patch kb888111.
    If all goes well,
in the device manager tab system devices you should found 2 entries "Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio"
where are those 2 entries, click on each of them, right-click and select "update driver"
then you select "instal from a list or specific location" and then point the location where you saved the
files that you downloaded from the link No. 1
REMEMBER not to confuse and do not try to update the x32 system using file system designed for X64 and vice versa
when we make updates to the system should automatically detect the sound card in Device Manager should be about
5 yellow question marks, four belong to the Nvidia high-definition audio and one for the Conexant High Definition Audio.
Now install the driver from the Nvidia graphics card which contains the sound driver. after installation reboot
after restarting the computer. enter the device manager and there is no longer 5 yellow question marks,
is the only one this one belongs to the Conexant sound card, Right-click on this one yellow entry and
select "update driver" then you select "instal from a list or specific location"
and then point the location where you saved the files that you downloaded from the link No.2
pointing hand and forces the driver installation. after installation, you enjoy the sound.
REMEMBER not to confuse and do not try to update the x32 system using file system designed for X64 and vice versa
link No. 2, includes drivers which I have edited and which I myself use
in my Toshiba Satellite P500-1CG. these are the drivers for XP x32 and x64 sp2/sp3
    link no. 1 http://www.speedyshare.com/files/23583256/UAA_BUS_DRIVER_update.rar
    link no. 2 http://www.speedyshare.com/files/23583437/xp_pebble_drivers_for_toshiba.rar

believe that this solution will also work with other models of Toshiba computers that have built-in sound card Conexant. Ultimately, it will be only a matter of editing a text file. INF driver sound in which you will need to add before installation, your hardware id. and all that. enjoy

  • Re: Satellite P500-12F - Can't install new nVidia display driver

    Good evening,
I am sorry for a stupid question, but I just do not know what to do. I have Satellite P500-12F.
I wanted to download newer graphics drivers for the NVidia card, so I went to the NVidia website and downloaded a new driver, which is dated back to December 2009, instead of mine, which is of July 2009 However, when I try to install it, the system says that theya are no hardware which is compatible with the new driver.
Could you tell me, what am I doing wrong? I could use any guidance as well. Thank you very much!

I have deleted the pre-installed graphic driver, and tried to replace it with a newer driver from the NVidia site. The installation was not successful, and now, thanks to You, I know why. I have already went to the Toshiba site and downloaded the driver from HERE .
I have installed it, and everything goes well, as it used to be. Could You tell me, is the driver which I have installed from the Toshiba site the newest one? And how often do they update this kind of laptop drivers?
Thank You all for Your help, it is really valuable for me! :)

  • Satellite P500 neither booting nor installing OS

Hello & Hearfelt Greetings to all Forum Friends,
Please, could anyone kindly look into this problem for me.
My laptop, a Toshiba Satellite P500 is faulty. It will boot past post and as soon as it reaches the "Windows Starting" logo splash (WIN 7), it will freeze and it will stay like that for hours. I changed the hard disk, the memory modules, I tried to re-install the OS, I tried to boot off a Linux Live CD and Live USB and USB DVD Drive, but all to no avail. I changed the configuration on the BIOS, then reset it to default, again to no avail.
Do you think it is a MB fault or CPU or GPU?
And does anyone have a suggested possible repair method?
I thank you all in advance and will be more than pleased to assist anyone !
    Thanks Again!

    Hi
You have already replaced the common parts like HDD and memory.
This was my first idea the memory or HDD could be affected but if you are sure that new parts are ok, then the issue could be related to motherboard.
Usually if the CPU would be affected, then the POST could not be passed properly.
So it seems that you motherboard might malfunction which means that the fix would be really expensive since new motherboard is one of the expensive notebook parts
