How to install XviD Quicktime Component?

I'm trying to watch a .avi video using Quicktime but a pop-up appears saying "Additional software is required for QuickTime to playback this media." So I clicked the link and downloaded the binary of the XviD component. Now I have XviD_Codec 1.0 alpha.component.
It says
To install this component, just drag the File "XviD_Codec 1.0 alpha.component" into Library/QuickTime. The Library directory can be found either at your home directory (to install just for the actual user) or at the top-level of your startup volume (this needs an administrator account). DO NOT PUT IN: /System/Library/QuickTime.
It is possible that the QuickTime directory does not yet exists. In that case you can create it yourself. Pay attention to capital letters if you use a case sensitive file system (i.e. UFS).
I do not have Library/Quicktime.
Can someone give me directions on what to do?

Either you are looking in the wrong place or someone has been playing around on your system (e.g., in the Console app) and made the folder invisible.

Because all the user are local user on server side, no domain

i have tried to change the OutlookSoft.config in OSoftSSIS_Client\Bin Folder

When opening Office 2007 Excel -> eTool -> Data Manager
There have no option showed.

Anyone know how to use the QuickTime Component Manager

I have been reading that you can somehow enable the DV out in QuickTime to play video out via Firewire, but have had no luck. I guess by using the Quicktime Component Manager you can enable certain features and disable certain features. Does anyone have any idea on how to do this? Thanks everyone for the help.

You can send a .dv file over Firewire (back to a camera for example) using iMovie.
Maybe if your better explained your objective we could offer some suggestions.
Many third party hardware devices can also be used to move .dv files to tape drives (like a VCR) or send the signal to broadcast devices.

How to install Quicktime WITHOUT iTunes?

It seems that there isn't a Quicktime installation kit, just an "iTunes with Quicktime" kit. That can't be right. I don't want to install Apple bloatware that I'm never going to use and would just uninstall right away just to get a simple video player.
Seriously, iTunes includes DRM (Digital Restrictions Software) of the sort that you often can never get off of your system without crippling it in some way.
All I want to do is watch movie previews. I shouldn't have to install 35 MB of software (compressed) just to watch movie previews.
So please, tell me how to install just Quicktime, or tell me about a Quicktime 7 compatible media player I can use as an alternative.

P.S. Why are so many movie previews available only in Quicktime format? Does Apple pay the studios to get a monopoly in this area or what? You can usually can get around this by going to Canadian sites, for example the US site for Imagine Me and You has only a Quicktime format preview, but you can go to a Canadian site, http://www.icinema.ca/movie.php?movieID=51628, and they have the preview in Windows Media and Real formats ONLY (Quicktime isn’t even available). But that's an inconvenience. Why can’t we get to choose our media format in the US?

I went back to the "Quicktime Download" tab and I still can't see a link to the /standalone page. It must be hidden somewhere, but Real does the same sort of bait-and-switch thing, except they are trying to trick you into paying for their product, which is even worse.
Also I apologize for the attitude. Just kind of frustrated, having spent too much time trying to solve this very minor problem.

I need JVC's "QuickTime Component"

I as many others have fallen into that QuickTime quicksand of updating to 7.4.x and now not being able to open .TOD files from my JVC HD GZ-HD7 camera. I have downgraded QuickTime to 7.3.1 using Pacifist. Unfortunately, I do not have the CD that came with my JVC camera to install their QuickTime component. So, I can still not open the .TOD files. I have been searching the net for days looking for a download. Of course JVC doesn't have it, that would be too easy and make too much sense. I did find the one page on their Japanese site that talks about it (http://software.transdigital.co.jp/products/cbsev/qceng/index.htm). They even mention in small red letters at the bottom not to update to QuickTIme 7.4, but offer no help in recovering if you did.
SO, my questions are: Does anyone out there have the disk that came with their camera? Can you zip it and post it for download? I have the GZ-HD7, but my guess is that the component is the same for all their HD cameras. Please!!!!!

But now, i just got my new MacBook Pro...and wish to use my latest QuickTime to open up the .TOD files...unluckily, i doesn't have the Original Installer ,so however i try to use the update Component for QuickTime, it can't work...cause,it can't be update without the original Component from the DVD-Rom...

C'ld you please re-upload the file again, so that, i can save it and Burn to a few pieces of DVDR as my Backup??!!

I've read that Q/T is not just a simple application but in reality, a major component of the OS. This is where it varies from other similar acting apps like WMV, AVI, FLV etc. To butress this statement, in a vague way, I remember seeing a graphic of the Mac OS when Apple was first pushing "X". QuickTime was in the same general area of depth in programming as UNIX.
So, you might not want to delete all of QuickTime just the Reg Key which should/could/might put you back to the non Q/T Pro functionality and thence legal to install on another machine.
Just be certain that the version on the new machine is the same as on the old machine or expect to buy a new $30 key.

the code is packed in the component (see component\Security Filter\java\Security Filter\ModifyAttributesFilter.java - the first Security Filter is the component name, the other Security Filter is the Java package name).
What is important:
- your class must implement the FilterImplementor interface (you will need UCM standard classes - server.zip in your classpath) and its doFilter method
How the filter is executed?
- actually, in this case you don't need any new service - you can use the standard 'hook', which is provided by standard checkin services
- in Component Wizard create a new component, add your compiled class to it (make sure you follow the rules not to end up in classpath issues)
- in Component Wizard click the 'Java Code' tab. Here you can add a Custom filter called validateCheckinData, which is executed by standard checkin services. If you parametrize the filter to call your class created above, you are done.
'Working with Content Components' manual (e.g. here: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10316_01/cs/cs_doc_10/documentation/developer/using_components_10en.pdf) can give you a basic picture. A better resource is Bex Huff's book - I would recommend you to get it, because it has a step-by-step HelloWorld example which can guide you through Component Wizard. I could also send you my own component (send me an email at [email protected]) which implements a filter for user quotas, so you just need to "replace classes".
As for the other half of your task, searching for the file in the database server will work only if you use database as your storage (ie. install and configure File Store Provider component accordingly). Of course, you could do a search for file in this case - just consider that you will be comparing two BLOBs rather than two relatively short check-sums (most likely strings or arrays of bytes). Besides, it will not work if you use filesystem as your storage.

It's not possible to download Quick Time for any iPhone. But all the iPhones has some kind of Quick Time built in. I mean, when you wanna open anything what is associated with Quick Time, then you can notice a symbol of Quick Time while it's loading. It all depends on the format of the video you wanna watch. If you watch films on the net via your iPhone, then that is a place where Quick Time associations are very commonly used.
But believe me, the best media player for iPhone is the built-in one!
