How to install "YUAN FM100" on Qosmio G50?

I recently purchased a new Toshiba Qosmio G50 laptop.
From the first start up Windows keeps giving me a message saying 'Windows needs to install driver software for your YUAN FM100'.
Google suggests YUAN is the company that makes the TV Tuner software - I emailed their support centre a couple of weeks ago, but have had no response.
I can't find the driver anywhere - I've spent ages googling this.
I'm running 64 bit Windows Vista, if that's relevant?
In 'device manager', under 'other devices' Qosmio G50 comes up twice, both with the yellow warning exclamation mark.
Should I disable both of these?
Thanks in advance for any help you can give - please reply using words a 3 year old would understand!
Thanks
Steve

Thanks to both of you.
Short story - success!
Long story;
The driver isn't C:\TOSAPINS so I went to www.toshiba.ca (I'd already looked in the .au - Australia site, where I'd bought the machine).
The driver is available for 4 different variations of Qosmio G50 PQG55C, however, I have PQG55A. I downloaded the driver anyway (for the PQG55C 043049) but it didn't work. 'Windows could not find driver software for your device'.
So then I clicked setup in the downloaded utility, and it appeared to install the whole FM Tuner application. I have the impression my PC was asking me for a driver for a program which it didn't fully have, but then I'm a moron so what do I know.
Anyway, all installed now, and it's not asking me for any more drivers.
Haven't a clue how to open or use the FM tuner though...
Thank you!
Steve

  • How to install the Vista on Qosmio G30?

    hello,
i have bought vista ultimate 32 bit and want to install it on my g30 notebook, is there somewhere a step by step instruction, how to install it without having any trouble? i did a forum search but only found problem specific threads.
    thanks in advance!

    Hi Christian
You search for a step-by-step Vista installation instruction??
You dont need it. The Vista installation is very easy.
First of all you have to install an RAID driver (but only if your notebook supports RAID)
After this installation perform further with the Vista setup.
After the Vista installation choose and download theToshiba drivers from the Toshiba European driver page and install the Vista drivers in the right order. The right order you will find in the installation instruction txt file.
By the way; please check exactly what Qosmio G30 notebook you have and choose then the right Vista drivers!!!

  • How-to: Installing Windows XP on Qosmio X300

Admins: please review this content, and make this topic sticky.
I decided to try out Windows XP on my Qosmio X300-130 laptop, that came with Windows Vista 32-bit pre-installed.
I bought XP Pro license + disc.
    Part A: Installation
    ===============
    1. Go to Intel website and download "Intel RST" drivers -- those are required to recognize the SATA disk. Unfortunately Qosmio X300 does not provide IDE emulation in it's BIOS.
    2. Download "nLite"
    3. Start "nLite" and choose option to slipstream the drivers, and choose to integrate Intel RST drivers, and create ISO. Burn the ISO on a CD-R.
    4. The new CD disc should be installable on our hardware
    Part B: Video
    ===========
Unfortunately, Toshiba modified GeForce used in the laptop, so standard NVIDIA drivers won't install on Windows. (they do install on Linux BTW)
PCI (and PCI express) code is made of several parts:
    -VENDOR ID (NVIDIA, main vendor)
-DEVICE ID (chip used, GeForce 9700 GTS in my case)
-SUB SYSTEM ID (Toshiba, secondary vendor)
After you installed fresh XP, go to device manager, and see devices under yellow question mark. (devices that Windows can't recognize)
Click on VGA (it is our GeForce) --> Details --> Device instance ID.
You need to search original NVIDIA driver for your DEVICE ID (that is, so it matches the chip in your laptop exactly, DEV_062A for me).
I had to change one single file from original NVIDIA driver:
    nvts.inf
    %NVIDIA_DEV.062A.01% = Section004, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_062A&SUBSYS_00011179
    -->
    %NVIDIA_DEV.062A.01% = Section004, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_062A&SUBSYS_FF011179
    Part C: Network & Audio
    ===================
    You need few drivers:
    -Intel WiFi 5100 drivers
    -Realtek PCI-E Gigabit drivers
    -Realtek HD Audio drivers
    -Technologov, 19.01.2011

    Very nice posting!
Thanks dude for this! I think it could be interesting for others!

  • How many WLan antenna's are installed in Qosmio G50-10H?

I am trying to connect a DIR-855 D-Link to the G50 build in WIFI Link 5100 and can't get an connection higher then 150Mbps.
According to the specs of pre-N v. 2.0 at least 3 antenna's are needed to reach higher then 150Mbps.
So my question is how many antenna's does the Toshiba G50-10H have. build in.

I assume the Qosmio G50-10H supports 3 wires WLan antenna because the built in WLan card Intel 802.11agn ShirleyPeak MiniCard supports the 802.11 Draft-N and this is a presupposition for such Draft N support.
PS: In your case I would recommend checking the +device manager -> WLan card properties -> Advanced tab+ if the draft N and other needed settings have been enabled

  • Qosmio G50 won't finalize Windows 7 64-bit install

    Hi everyone!
I recently wanted to updated my Qosmio G50-12f from vista 32bit to 7 ultimate 64bit. I did a clean install: formatted the c partition.
Everything seemed to work fine until the "setup is preparing your computer for first use" screen. At first I thought it just froze as it wouldn't go any further. Rebooting (in any modes) would get the same effect.
But to my great surprise and pleasure, it managed to pass that point when i desperately decided to wait long enough for a miracle to happen. But the problems still remain. The configuration process is just !REALLY! slow. I could painfully pass the firsts few screens, like enter computer's name, activation screen, security modes, but with a very long waiting time between each. And everytime it reaches this last security modes screen it would suddenly go to a BSOD:
    Driver Power State Failure
    * * * stop 0x0000009F (0x0000000000000003, 0xFFFFFA800193DD70, 0xFFFFF80000B9C518, 0xFFFFFA80029C8610)
Please anyone has any ideas about how to solve this?
Obviously it should be a driver problem, but how do i get to update any drivers without an OS running? I've seen such a feature in the repair section of the install DVD but it only accepts .inf files.
And I can t find those anywhere on toshiba's support website. Only .exe that you run from your already running OS.
Anyway the Qosmio G50 was not listed as incompatible with 7-64bit. So i'm a bit confused here!
    Please Help^^

    Hi
Fact is that notebooks are different from desktop PCs and many newer notebooks series are equipped with newer motherboards and controllers which need an additional driver.
The G50 needs an SATA driver in order to install the Windows OS.
The SATA driver should be a part of the Intel Matrix Storage Manager.
Some words regarding the ISO image.
Who knows what ISO image it is seem you are trying to install an image which was created on different computer this could be a problem on notebooks with different hardware configuration
You should use either the Toshiba Recovery disk or the clean Microsoft Windows CD!

  • How to install Windows XP 64bit on my Qosmio G30-219

Problem.....how to install windows xp 64 on my qosmio G30-219? seems that Toshiba doesn't support it! Or have i missed something?
    Help please!!!!

Of course you can install it on the Qosmio G30.
The problem is that you will not find any Toshiba 64bit XP drivers on the Toshiba driver page!!!
    Why???
Well, Im not sure why but I presume the Toshiba notebooks were not delivered with 64bit OS and therefore 64bit drivers dont exists.
I assume you cannot install the 64bit XP on the Qosmio because you have not included an RAID driver!!! Am I right?
The RAID driver is need and important to recognize the HDD!!!
You can include it pressing F6 during the windows setup installation procedure
    So its one little hint!

How I make to enter in the BIOS of the system ?
Which are the keys to press ?

    Hello

By the way: If you press F12 you can select the boot device. Therefore its not necessary to enter the BIOS. :)

  • Qosmio G30: How to install Qosmio player on Win XP?

I bought a new G30 with Vista Ultimate inside. Many applications and devices not run on Vista and I decide to do a migration to XP PRO. Windows working excellent but....... how to install Qosmioplayer on XP PRO (working TV and rest buttons ) .
I have many Qosmioplayer recovery CD (from toshiba ftp ) but all give me message: Recovery is not for this system? There is version on XP PRO?

    Hi
On the Toshiba European driver page you can find the Qosmio Player Utility for Windows XP MCE (should run also with XP Pro) or OS independent version.
Choosing Qosmio G30 (PGQ30) I found the Qosmio player for Win MCE v1.61 and OS independent version 4.4-200601112.
Choosing the Qosmio G30 (PGQ32) I found the Qosmio player for Win MCE v1.70.
I would recommend trying to install these utilities and check what version will work on you notebook.

after that had finished i had error messages from my gesture controller.
So i guess i need to uninstall this.
I go into control panel and find it in the list, click on uninstall and after it has run its course i get a box saying : error 1310.error writing to file: C:\config.Msi\4cb46d.rbf. verify you have access to that directory .
I click on retry and i get the same message again each time ???
and then after that i get another box saying : error 1603 fatal error during instillation . consult windows installer help (Msi.chm) or MSDN for more information ???
    What do i do ???
Any help would be very much appreciated..... cheers. Neil

    Hi
You can try to uninstall the software using an 3rd party tool like CCLeaner.
This allows you to remove the software and clean the registry.
You could also try to install the Gesture Controller without uninstalling the software first.
But Im not quite sure if this would work for sure.
However, visit the Toshiba Eu driver page, download the gesture software and try to run the setup

  • Qosmio G50-129 PQG55E - 64Bit Windows 7 Upgraded - How To Update BIOS?

    Hello,
I have a Qosmio G50 that I have upgraded to Windows 7 64bit. My BIOS is unupdated from 6 months ago when I bought the machine.
I went to update the BIOS just to keep things up to date, so I went through the online driver wizard:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp
And with all the above information inputted, it provides:
    http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-files2/0/bios-20090312131718.zip
After unzipping and running P0060v210.exe, it extracts and then says:
" [Error] BIOS Update is not supported OS. Unsupported OS or service pack is installed. " (Word up to all my Googling friends!) "
Does Toshiba have a BIOS update for the Qosmio G50 that is supported on Windows 7? Specifically 64bit? They should fix this glitch that directs you to download this file when it clearly isn't supported by Windows 7.
Also, I tried to run it in compatibility mode with Windows XP SP2 and it ran fine -- but I was nervous about going through with the update if it originally doesn't support Windows 7, so I don't continue at the next prompt. Is it safe to do this? Has anyone else in this situation done it without issues? I've read that BIOS updates can go horribly wrong if not careful, so I'm hesitant to update the BIOS by running the updater in compatibility mode when it doesnt support Windows 7 on its own!
Thanks in advance for any assistance and Merry Xmas.

    Hi All,
Sorry ,my English is not perfect.I have a Toshiba Qosmio G50-12K.The solution is go to the US Toshiba website. Here is the link:
    http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/modelContent.jsp?ct=DL&os=&category=&moid=2140527& rpn=PQG55U&modelFilter=G55-Q805&selCategory=3&selFamily=804517
There are all of the BIOS what is available. The 2.1 BIOS exactly the same as on the European website just they used a zip file. If you guys open it you will find the same .exe file, the file size is the same, but don't use this one, instead of it you can find there an ISO file. Write a CD with this one, turn off the computer and boot from the CD, use the F12 button. This is a safety way update the BIOS. But I use the 2.3, this is newest one, for me this one is works much better, because the display is more bright. I hope this is a big help for you and you understand my English! :)

  • Qosmio G50/402 - How to use 8GB RAM?

I have Qosmio G50/402 with 8GB RAM installed although the useable is only 4GB.
Is there any way to use the 8GB?

    Hello
    This can have different reasons.
Firstly you have to check if your notebook supports 8GB RAM. Check the specifications of your chipset but as far as I know Qosmio G50 should support 8GB RAM.
Furthermore it would be interesting to know what OS you have. To use full 8GB RAM you have to use a 64bit OS.
And what type of modules you are using exactly? In worst case the new module isnt compatible with your notebook. Normally the best option is using two identical modules from one manufacture, e. g. Kingston. I have very good experience with these RAM modules for notebooks so I can really recommend it.

  • Qosmio G50-115: How to upgrade Home Premium to Ultimate

    Dear Friends,
I am a teacher in a local college. We decided to buy Qosmio (Device name: G50-115, , Device number: PQG55E-01J00GEN, Product Group: QOSMIO) for our department. We bought two for the time being for trial. But now my job is on the sword.
These laptops are pre-intstalled with Vista-Home Premium -SP1 and we need to upgrade these to Vista Ultimate. We have a Windows Vista Ultimate DVD but that is without SP1 on it. When I run and try to upgrade it rejects the upgrade as the installed version is newer than the version which I have. Microsoft is of no help, they said you bought it....
Microsoft advised me to uninstall SP1 but I cannot do that because there is no option in ControlPanel for this.
If I do clean install I will lose all the Toshiba's nice software. I made a recovery disk but do not think that I will be able to install these software. Though I can download all the necessary drivers but I am interested in factory installed utilities/software.
Would you please advise me what to do. Is there we can get all teh Qosmio software on a DVD for instalation.
    Regards,
    Dr. Sayied

    Hi
As Raver said use vLite free software. This software would allows you to create a new Vista Ultimate DVD and you could include the SP1 which you could download from the Microsoft.
At the other hand you could also use the Vista Ultimate DVD to install the Vista on the Qosmio G50.
The Toshiba tools and Vista driver can be downloaded from the Toshiba Europe driver page.
After the Vista Ultimate installation you could update and install the SP1

  • Problem installing XP on Qosmio G50 with preinstalled vista

Hello everyone, just joined, and after some browsing I believe 'll like this place.
I just bought a Qosmio G50 10 with preinstalled Vista and I would like to install XP on the second hard drive to have double-boot. It starts well but after it finishes loading drivers etc it says "starting windows" and then I get a blue screen.
I know the installation CD is good. This portable is new on the market and there isn't much info about it.
Even Toshiba does not seem to have drivers for it to download.
Reading here and elsewhere shows that a driver problem might be the cause, but I need help.
    Thanks.

The BSOD is because XP doesn't have a driver for your hard disk, so it panics because it can't find the hard drive.
I also had this problem, following the steps at http://www.msfn.org/board/lofiversion/index.php/t124213.html solved it.
Basically, here is what you have to do:
    1. Get a copy of Win XP with SP2 to get the SATA support. Note that it _does not_ have drivers for your HD, so this by itself is not enough!
    2. Get the Intel Matrix Manager "F6" drivers from Intel website ( http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Filter_Results.aspx?strOSs=All&strTypes=All&Produc tID=2101&OSFullName=All%20Operating%20Systems&lang =eng - be sure to pick the F6 Floppy Driver package that matches your 32- or 64-bit XP ).
    3. Download a copy of nLite to use to make a custom Windows XP Install CD
    4. Copy your WinXP CD (all the files) to some folder on your HD.
    5. Unzip the Intel Drivers.
    6. Run nLite, pointing it at the folder you created in step 4. Choose only the options to add drivers and to create an ISO image. For the add drivers, use the multi-driver folder option and point it at your unzipped Intel drivers folder from step 5. You want the "text mode" driver - pick the one that matches your controller (ICH9M-E/M SATA AHCI).
    7. When you get to the disk image page, DON'T try to use nLite to burn the CD. Have it create an image (.iso). nLite always locked up for me if I tried to use it to burn CD.
    8. Find your .iso in explorer, right click and do Send To menu to bring up the TOSHIBA burn image to CD. Use that to burn it.
This will get you an XP SP2 CD that will successfully install on your G50. At least, it did for me, using the Vista 64 environment that came loaded with the laptop. You will also need to go into BIOS (er, Hardware Setup) by holding down ESC when you power on the laptop. On the first page, on the right hand side, change the boot order to one of the options that list CD-ROM first. Otherwise the laptop will happily ignore your shiny new install CD.
    Hope that helps!

  • How to connect video-in cable with Qosmio G50?

    Hi
I bought the Qosmio G50-11S, and received a video in cable with it. (Red/White/Yellow RCA jack to mini jack) But I cannot find any way of connecting it to my notebook, not the manual nor any online resources talks about it. The issue is I need to capture video from my video recorder to my notebook and the normal TV antenna comes with a lot of noise, so I which to utilize the video in cable. Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Hello
In the past Ive made some experiments with it. I wanted to create DVDs copying the material from old VHS recorder. Do you want to use the same recorder? Ive done this on Qosmio G30 but the principle is the same.
The fact is that you must send the signal to the notebook and for this you must use video-in port.
I don't see your Qosmio has several of them so I think only way to send signal into your notebook is to use antenna-in port. Which video-out port you want to use on your recorder?
