Are you talking about something to install on your PC? It's true that you can use WMP (Windows Media Player) to load music to a Zen Micro with 2.00.2. You could also install the specific version of Zen Explorer (see the download section of Creative.com). You need to get the right version, because the version of Zen Explorer on the CD in the box, only works on .x firmware

Same old story, been trying for hours and hours to transfer music onto the player. Searching forums for answers.

I have tried installing Creative Zen Micro Media Explorer Web Update (48.24 MB) but it doesn't recognise my player is plugged in.

Also tried installing Creative MediaSource Plugin for PlaysForSure devices (version .00.8) (23.98 MB) but Win Media Player 0 still doesn't recognise the player.

Should i bother installing software/drivers from the original CD i got? Or download them instead? Which do i need to download? Do i need to change the firmware?

I know these questions have been asked thousands of times, but all the answers i have read don't seem to be doing the trick.

Hurrah, i FINALLY got it working.
Installed drivers/software from original cd.
Downloaded/installed the Creative MediaSource Plugin for PlaysForSure devices (version .00.8) (23.98 MB) and managed to get the 'sync' feature working in WMP0.
Downloaded/installed Creative Zen Micro Media Explorer Web Update (48.24 MB) but it wasn't detecting my Zen.
Went into Device Manager and firstly uninstalled the MTP Device under Windows Portable Devices.
Connected Zen again, went into Device Manager again, right clicked on the MTP device and clicked on Update Driver.
The Zen Micro Media Explorer Web Update then detected my device and installed.

Zen Micro defect with Firmware upd

I updated my Zen Micro's firmware/drivers/applications the other day and now the player is not detected by creative media source organizer or zen micro media explorer - I have to transfer my songs through Real Player or WMP 0 now. Also, all the song lengths have changed to 8:2:5 long.
I had another problem even before the update - after the player is unlocked, the back arrow does not respond well. It would go to the tracklist then back to now playing. I have to go to the bottom right corner button and "lookup artist" then press back to go back to where I was before I locked it. I don't know if that's just the way the player is designed.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

MediaSource won't work with the 2.00.2 firmware. Best to only upgrade if you are sure you want to use only WMP0.

[Zen Micro] Problems with firmware upd

Hello!
Yesterday I finally received my Zen Micro and I tried to update my firmware, but it didn?t work. I downloaded the file (firmware 2.02.2) from creative.com and nomadworld, but both files didn?t work.
This is what my computer said:
An application is interfering with the flash-program. Close all applications and all explore windows before you continue. - Renew - Close
What does this mean? I closed all running programs and my firewall and anti virus program. Am I doing something wrong?

Well, I searched the whole forum and I found the answer I was looking for. I had to shut down CTDetect.exe in the Task Manager and it worked!

Zen Micro 5Gb Firmware Problem.Need h

I had my Zen micro 5gb,
yesterday when i try to upgradedit firmware but it hangs.
then the player become in recovery mode..and it showned firmeware problem..
I tried to download the new firmware, however, itry to upgraded it agaian, it show, player was not connected..
i try a lot time, still not function.
It was not detected by my computer, but it become a portable devide with 20 mb storage only..
Now i had tried roll my WMP to 0 but still not helpful.
ANY Way can help?
I had chosed the reload firmware,, but the problem was my pc not respond to my player..
REALLY TRIED to search the solution.
where is the service centre in KL, Malaysia?

Major problem solved.
Already upgraded to new firmware.
I do it by:
1. uninstall all creative application and plugin.
2. using registry cleaner to clean the registry.
3. downgrade WMP to WMP0
4. Detected by WMP as MTP device, loading firmware upgrade, closed WMP. upgraded.
Now it Working fine already, just still have some problem is:
. Only WMP can detect it, all creative application can't detect it..

Zen Micro 5GB, Won't turn o

Hey guys,
I bought a zen micro 5GB back in June of 05, its obviously past the 60 day warrenty and im trying to advoid a $20 session which might not even solve my issue....
A week ago the player stopped turning off. I am able to turn it on with the power tab, play music, charge it, everything its supposed to except power it off. The only way for me to do so is to take out the battery casuing me to rebuild my library constantly.
Does anyone have a makeshift fix for this? Does anyone have a similar problem and can give me insight as to what creative can do and how much it will cost? Any other ideas?
I called support and they will not give me an estimate unless i pay the $20 phone session charge...
I still have the orig box, receipts, and information that came with the product. There is little to no wear on it as i ONLY use it to upload music from my pc then play it on a personal stereo system i have in the house.

Try going into Recovery Mode first, and try the options there.
Try Clean Up first. If the player still works on the PC (ie you can access it there), then you could try Reload OS aswell, and then load a firmware onto the player from the PC. Otherwise it does sound like it's faulty, there is not much I can advise other than speaking to Customer Support about a possible repair.

Zen Micro 5GB – USB not connectin

My Zen Micro 5GB MP3 is freezing on the CREATIVE screen. I tried a Clean-Up to no avail. I have downloaded the new Firmware/OS and went to install it but when I initiate the program a message comes up saying it does not recognize a connection to the MP3 player through the USB port.
Up until this point (for six months), I have not had any problems with the USB port connecting. I tried a second USB port on the PC and got the same message. It seems unlikely to me that both USB ports would go out at the same time the MP3 player starts freezing up.
Without the USB port connecting to the MP3 player, the new firmware cannot be downloaded.
What do I do?

A few days ago I had exactly the same problem. It turned out to be a crashed harddisk and I sent it RMA.

Zen Micro 5GB - Installation problems - HELP ple

Dear All
I am sure must have been asked before, so please bear with me.
Just bought a Zen Micro and cannot seem to install the supplied software from the CD. Keep getting a InstalWizard 6003 error message. Have tried restarting, deleting temporary files (even connevting to net) and still get same message.
Have tried to install then by copying files to harddri've and running from there but that fails.
What am I to do or have I a dud?
All suggestions greatefull recieved.

I was also thinking - how's your cd player on the pc - is it generally ok ?
try copying the files from the cd to your hard dri've and running from there.
Sometimes you can get -6003 errors if some of the source files are unreadable for any reason.
If that fails then i suggest downloading from creatives website and trying the install again incase you just have a dud cd.
Seeing as you've just got it i'll also tell you from my own experience......
I have a zen micro 5gb bought it about 3 months ago and had no problems with the installation but that was on a fully patched up to date winxp sp2 with 2Ghz memory.
I did have issues with the zen micro itself hanging but i upgraded to the 2..02 firmare beta and it has been happy ever since.

Zen Micro 5GB Won't Turn On Using The Switc

Hi had my Zen Micro 5GB since xmas 05 and never had a problem until 2 weeks ago when my headphone jack came loose and my sound became absolutely rubbish. Found a guide on the internet and fixed the problem by soldering the joins. Now works fine. But however jus 20mins ago i uploaded some new songs to it using the Creative organizer, no problems. Unplugged after transfer completed. I listened for about 5-0 mins and then turned it off. Came back and it now does not turn on at all using the switch!!!!. The only possible way to turn it on is to use the USB cable which is frustrating when your at school or out and about. Is there any possible way to fix my problem? Zen Micro 5Gb hangs repeate

Yesterday I received my new Zen Micro 5Gb. I really enjoy the look and feel of it, but I am experiencing some problems: After unpacking the player and navigating the menus for only a few minutes, the player started to hang. I figured this could be fixed by replacing the old firmware (.0xx) with the new one, .02.05. So I did. It did not fix the problem. The player hangs repeatedly, on average maybe every 0th time I select something in the menu. Once it hangs, there is nothing to do but pull out the battery, and put it back in. I recognize no pattern in when the hang occurs, could be while adjusting the equalizer, while turning off the player, while starting to play a song. I have tried to do a format, to run ScanDisk (Clean Up), to reload the .02.05 firmware. Nothing seems to help.
Another issue: After replacing the battery the player rebuilds the library. At the end of the process (full progressbar) the player again hangs, with a buzz-sound in the earphones. I then have to Clean Up again, to be able to boot.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to whats wrong, or what can be done? Should I have the player replaced by a new one?
BTW. The player is loaded with some 330 songs, aprox. ,5Gb of proven-quality mp3s.

You can try a manual disk cleanup. To run a Disk Cleanup you need to access the Rescue Mode on the Zen Micro. To access the Rescue Mode: remove the battery, hold the power switch to the "on" position and KEEP IT HELD TO "ON" while reinserting the battery. Choose Disk Cleanup from the menu. Note: Disk cleanup should not remove your tracks. It searches through the disk for files and rebuilds the index, and can be useful for correcting any strange behaviour.
If this doesn't solve it then it sounds to me like the player is faulty.

Upgrading the older players was easier, particularly those that use the 2.5" dri'ves because (a) 2.5" dri'ves tend to come in only a few different sizes (b) they're relati'vely cheap (c) you can get a pretty significant upgrade to say 00-20Gb.

Creative Zen Micro PlaysForSure/MTP Firmware 2.00

When installing the new firmware update version 2.00.2 on my Zen Micro, the Zen Micro Explorer and the Creative MediaSource Applications do not recognize the device when it is plugged in. I installed the software Update Package (v.00.) for 'Zen Micro Players with PlaysForSure/MTP Firmware' and I am experiencing the same results. I had to revert the player back to PDE Firmware v.0.03.
Please update forum if experiencing the same thing or have suggestions.

MediaSource won't work with the new v2 firmware, you can only use WMP and the updated version of the Zen Micro Media Explorer. I believe it does say this in the readme associated with the new firmware.

BETA - Creative Zen Micro PlaysForSure with Windows Media Player 10 Update 2.10

I realise this has been talked about before, but...
I installed Creative Zen Micro *PlaysForSure/MTP Firmware 2.00.2 a couple of times and I had trouble syncing tracks. Formatting and Cleaning Up didn't work, before you ask. So i downgraded to previous firmware. I was wondering whether any users who had this problem installed the Beta firmware and found it was OK, because I know I can't downgrade from a Beta release so I wanted to ask before I installed it.

I would imagine that there are people around who would answer YES, and some that would answer NO to your question.
But given what appears to be a large number of people who have troubles with that BETA firmware (esp when used with Napster to go), I would suggest you don't try that BETA firmware unless :
- you have a high stress level,
- you don't mind the risk of turning your Micro useless for a few weeks
- you feel a strong need to take whatever risk to solve whatever problems you have now.

Zen Micro 5gb unusual problem.

Firstly, I have searched for other posts, but can't find my particular situation described, so please forgive if this is actually addressed elsewhere, I just couldn't find it.....
I bought two Zen Micro 5gb units, for my wife and daughter.
At first, they both worked great. No problems connecting to my windows xp pro computer, transferred files fine, even if it WAS slow due to USB ports being ., but like I said, they both worked fine.
Then, the next day, I downloaded an upgraded driver for my wife's zen, for the jukebox software. Ever since then, her zen will not connect to the computer, it always says device not connected.
The strange thing is, though, that my daughter's zen still connects without any problems, and transfers songs just fine.
Here's the firmware info:
My wife's Zen (the one the will NOT connect): Firmware (System->Information) : version .02.05
My daughter's Zen (the one that works fine): Firmware : .0.03......
I'm emailing this from work, and I don't have either mp3 player with me, so I'm hoping I have the numbers correct on the firmware, however, I DO remember for certain that the player that WON'T connect has a slightly higher version number than the one that works okay, and that they both start with ""; in other words, neither have firmware version "2.x"...... I even tried updating the firmware on the non-connecting unit, but, alas, it said the unit was not connected, so I was unable to update.....
After all this, I didn't dare do anything to the other unit....
BTW, I did try both players on the same USB port, using the both USB cables, and still, my wife's player would NOT connect but my daughter's did.... I also switched to another port, with the same results.

I apologize for not updating this thread sooner...... I got a Creative support rep on the phone, he directed me to the Device Manager, which listed the player, but showed it to be disabled. I enabled it......and the player is working just fine!

I don?t know it cause by your company bad quality control or PChome?s selling bad product. I report PChome this issue, they said they will contact vendor and understand this issue. I also told Creative Taiwan branch. Your customer service tells me, maybe the battery is old and he want me mail mp3 player back. I am not happy about this shopping experience. I think Creative is such as a good brand in music machine area before, but I doubt it now. Your customer service is not good. I am working in office hours and I have no time to mail my mp3 player. It is not fair for me to take responsibility for none mp3 to used during the mailing process. In Taiwan, if you don?t provide a good service contact window, maybe you can provide some retail stores that customers send their Creative products to fix.
