"Back to my Mac" is preinstalled. All you have to do is to enable it over at: "Apple Menu > System Preferences > iCloud"
There are certain requirements that your computers and Time Capsule need to fill. Please check the Apple manual for BTMM: http://support.apple.com/HT4907

OK I have following working separate situations.
1. I can share my internet connection : is a router to ethernet cable into mac. Then over airport built in to my iMac ....... to other wireless computers, iphone etc...works fine.
2. the I have a air port express that is only used for air tunes. I guess i had create a separate network for that. can select that in iTunes. Works.
problem is can not use both at the same time!
OK so Now I would like to combine the two; share the ethernet over airport on mac and send music to air port express....
the main reason for this is cause I now have an iPhone and want to use the internet and the remote app to control iTunes from all over the house.
I have not the first idea where to start.
Any hints or tips will be greatly appreciated.

The airport express is a router. And, only one router can be used to obtain an IP address. So in your airport express configuration set it so it does not obtain an IP address.

How to secure Internet Sharing?

Unless I've missed something, I can't seem to find how to securely share an internet connection in Leopard.
I can enable Airport, share the connection - but there doesn't seem to be any way to secure it - i.e. I want to catch the wireless connection, but I don't anyone else to.
Any ideas?

I was forewarned that Belkin Routers last about 3 minutes then expire - so I was not surprised when it slowly sank downhill. Our neighborhood does seem to have seen some new wireless faces appear over the last month or so and on the back of that I did systematically try running from channel 1 (on the Belkin) all the way up to 11 to see if it helped matters. It didn't, and it's at that point I thought the router was at fault. (Incidentally, I purchased a Belkin Ethernet Bridge and that worked perfectly).
So really, and on the back of the Airport Card being a bit un-secure - I think it's new router time.
Linksys WRT54g duly noted - I have recently set-up the Netgear WGT624 and this seemed excellent, and I also have experience of the 834 which has been consistently reliable.
There is another consideration though (are you still reading?) - brand new MacBook (latest spec.), this just crawls on its internet connection. After establishing the router was causing dropouts (i.e. with the Enet Bridge on my G5 nabbing wireless perfectly from an airport card via Internet Sharing) - I was able to see that the MacBook was extremely slow (side-by-side with the same internet pages on the G5).
Any thoughts on that one? (I'm trying to tie this all up in one question I know!).

I have a new 2011 MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard (10.6.7) and an iMac G4 running Panther (10.3.9).
The iMac doesn't have an AirPort card and the easiest way to get internet on it seems to be Internet Sharing.
I want to setup Internet Sharing from the MBP's Airport via ethernet to the iMac's ethernet, but am having trouble configuring the IP addresses etc to get the iMac to comply.

How to prevent internet sharing from turning itself of automatically

There is any way to prevent internet sharing from turning of itself automatically wen the analog modem is disconnected?
At home i have to use an analog modem to connect to the internet (no adsl coverage), under Snow Leopard i was able to create a wi-fi Network to share files and connection between an iMac (connected directly to the internet), an iPhone, a MacBook and a Ps3.
With lion, apple introduced a new feature in the internet sharing tools: in fact the wi-fi connection is turned ON only when the modem (or the selected internet source whatever it is) is connected to the internet, when i disconnect it all the network is turned Of.
So, there is any way to keep alive the network also when the modem is disconnected, like when i was under Snow Leopard?

How secure is internet sharing?

I apologize if this is a stupid question...I am new to sharing and not very tech savvy...just know enough to do what I need to. I recently discovered I can share my internet connection thru airport so I can connect my iPod Touch and use it online and I read the steps needed to do so.
My question is: how secure is this If set it up with the 128-Bit and 13 letter password? I'd like to set it up on my iMac at work, but am afraid of others being able to get on or access it, or my iPod Touch.

so long as you don't use the WEP (40 bit) setup, should be ok...
now anything that's wireless, someone could crack if they have enough time & data packets to scan for the keys. but they would be set back to 0 once the password is changed. also, I wouldn't be doing anything at work that you wouldn't want anyone else to see anyway.

How to control internet sharing via MAC access control list?

Hello,
I know how to share the internet over the Wi-Fi. I know that there could be a password. But I need to control users by MAC addresses, just like in the routers. So, I want to give an access ONLY to a several MAC addresses which I'll write in some ?list?. But the main point is that the other computers, which are not included in that list, can't access my network.
I figured out that it is nearly impossible to do via standard utilities in mac os, so is there any 3rd party software for such things?

REMOTE and "Internet Sharing"

Maybe this won't work at all with the existing REMOTE application, but maybe someone has a solution.
I have several Macs connected to the internet via a Netgear switch, all computers local IPs are 192.168.0... assigned via DHCP from the switch. Some of the computers connect to the switch via hard wired ethernet; others, via Airport Extreme or Express base stations. REMOTE sees all of the itunes libraries if it uses one of the base stations Wireless networks, since then then the iPhone gets a 19.2.168.0... address as well. (Note, my airports don't serve up DHCP address, the switch does)
But a couple of my computers are connected via hardwire ethernet to the switch, and have "internet sharing" enabled (firewall off, the switch does that job). if my iPhone connects using one of the "internets shared" computer, REMOTE will then only see the iTunes on that one computer. Probably because internet sharing serves up an IP like "10.0.2.x" and so it is on a different network.
I know that REMOTE only sees iTunes on the same network. So the question is, anyone know how to get "internet sharing" to serve up different address which I can specify? Or how to get REMOTE to just see "shared" libraries in an iTunes it does connect to?

Internet Sharing not providing a client an IP

I have turned on Internet Sharing on a 10.4.7 machine connected to the internet, and the other 10.4.7 machine is happily joining the wireless network created by the sharing machine. However, the client machine is not receiving an IP address from the connection sharing machine. Is there a bug here? Documentation does not describe that I need to set up the IP manually?

I found that the OSX firewall blocks necessary traffic if UDP blocking is turned on. I fixed the problem while leaving the firewall intact by making a rule to pass port 68 UDP traffic. After this, and with the firewall fully enabled, My client machine received an IP address within a few seconds of connecting.
Apple Support please put this port information into the support documents describing how to enable Internet Sharing.

UTorrent, Internet Sharing and Port Forwarding: Horrid Trifecta

Every good question has a couple of miles of back story, so here it comes:
I bought a Windows PC recently, and one of the first programs I downloaded was uTorrent. I have an iBook G4 running 10.4.8, but I have no wireless router, so I thought I would use internet sharing to get my new laptop off the ground. Everything connects great, internet sharing is wonderful on the web, but then I use uTorrent and notice that I'm uploading at nearly 3 times the speed I'm downloading, even when I only have 12kb of a file. I then notice the small icon at the bottom of the application that looks like a warning flag that my computer is confused, and I figure out that the problem is my new laptop has no ears, or rather, no listening port through which uTorrent can increase the speed of my DOWNloads. Further searching reveals that the traffic on the appropriate port is not getting through, hence I try to figure out how to manipulate internet sharing into forwarding the appropriate port range. I found Brickhouse, or as it is now known, Flying Buttress, but the program is remarkably confusing (to be perfectly honest, I'm not that bright). I cannot get FB to forward the port, no matter how hard I tried (every time I clicked Start IP Sharing, the it wouldn't work). So I can't use FB. I thought I would be clever and create a network on my Windows PC and share it with my iBook, but apparently my iBook refuses to share the Windows internet.
So now I am stuck trying to figure out how to get this Windows PC to receive traffic on TCP/UDP ports 10000-65535 through my Mac. To be honest, I really thought that the Mac would easily be able to forward the ports (is this in store for Leopard?), and I was a little disappointed the whole thing was so frustrating, but then I tried to setup an ad-hoc network on the Windows PC and realized that my Mac is still FAR easier to use, despite is insufficiencies.
So, long story short, I need help forwarding ports through internet sharing. If you can help me use FB, that's great, but to be honest, I would like a cleaner solution if possible. So my question is: How do I get my Mac to share port traffic with Windows if it is running internet sharing?

I was hoping more for a permanent solution that doesn't cost $100. Did I mention I'm in China? That program seems great and all, but I have the same technical difficulties I've had with FB. I can get the thing running and still have an internet connection on my machine, however, the port mapping or port forwarding or whatever you wish to call it doesn't actually work. These programs make it very difficult to understand what's going on; I checked the IP Address on my windows machine and used it as the actual address for the port I wanted to forward, I applied the settings and absolutely nothing changed on the windows machine. I went to portforward.com to check if the port was forwarded properly and still no response. This will sound stupid, but when I hook up the windows machine to the router through ethernet, it works perfectly, no forwarding required, so it is essentially my mac that is blocking or absorbing the intended traffic, but if I hook up the windows machine to the router, I have no internet for my Mac (I'm not sure if that's a problem with my Mac or with ICS). Can you explain to me how to use this program to forward ONE port, and ONLY forward one port (or a range of ports would be even better) without all of its inane firewalling that blocks all the internet traffic? Or am I just hopeless on this issue?

Internet sharing in HTC m8 for window

I know that the htc m8 for window is unlocked. How about the internet sharing function? Is that locked to Verizon sim only? If I use local carrier, will this function be disabled?

Grandfathering in effect you are BOUND by the old terms and conditions if you are on unlimited plan. If you switch to a tiered plan then you are bound by the new terms and conditions. If you are on the unlimited plan you have to pay for tethering(some people used hacks and other applications to get tethering). What happened is Verizon couldn't stop you from downloading said apps not stop people from doing something against their agreements.

My PowerMac G5 is connected to the internet via Ethernet. I share the connection to a Powerboog via Airport using internet sharing. Everything is working fine except when I turn the Firewall on. After reading http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107653 I tried opening port 443 but it still does'nt work. I'd like to be able to use internet sharing with the firewall on. Hmmm, how curious... I never had to do that in 10.4.7 or 10.4.8... the only ones I ever tried Internet Sharing with.
I'm wondering if turning the Firewall on after the Internet sharing is what's doing it? Just for kicks you might try turning off Internet Sharing, then Firewall on, then turn on Internet Sharing.
If that doesn't work, then I'd personally try trashing...
/Library/Preferences/com.apple.sharing.firewall.plist
Then reboot and try the Firewall again.

How do I use internet sharing from my MacBook Pro (static IP, only one DNS server) to my iPod Touch?

   I'm connecting to the net using an Ethernet cable to my MacBook with the following network settings.
IP Address: 192.168.y.{0-250}
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Router: 192.168.y.x (where 'y' is the same number as in the IP address)
DNS Server: 192.168.99.3
Apologies if I'm being unclear; not sure how much information it's OK to share publicly.
   I then turn on Airport and Internet Sharing, and look for my wireless network with my 4th generation iPod Touch. However, the network appears erratically. I sometimes have to wait for a minute or two and keep refreshing before it appears on my iTouch. When I try to connect it just says 'Failed to connect to the network'.
   I've followed all the steps in this article with several variations to no avail.

Any idea how to troubleshoot wifi/ethernet Internet Sharing? I use to network a media player (like an AppleTV not made by Apple) and recently it stopped working. Luckily I have two macs in the house to shoot the troubles.
I have an iMac running Leopard 10.5.5 and a Powerbook running Tiger.
I have tried sharing both ways (imac wifi » powerbook ethernet and powerbook wiki » imac ethernet) but am only able to get an IP from the DHCP server (Airport Extreme N base station). I am not able to get on the web (google search, etc).
Where can I look to see what's not working?
