How to integrate BW Hierarchy into Webi?

Hi Everybody,
I need to create a report based on 0FIGL_V10_Q0001 in Webi and this query has a hierarchy and i have created the hierarchy from the designer itself. In webi, when i tried to pull 1 of the hierarchy dimension with key figure, it shows no data but if i remove the key figure i can view the information. May i know what went wrong with it or do you have a details on how to integrate BW hierarchy into Webi?

- merge the regsitry file to your BusinessObjects Server
- Restart the Services via a restart of the Server Intelligence Agent
- re-run the report with keyfigures
You should see 2 logfiles being created on the C:\ root folder
attach the logfiles to this message (do not copy past the content).
I assume the underlying BI query works fine.

Integrate BW Hierarchy into Webi

Hello Everyone,
We have a query with a hierarchy and it´s used into Web Intelligence. When i run the query in BW it works fine, but when i run the query by the Web Intelligence it shows no Data. If I remove the hierarchy from the query, the WEBI works fine as well, so with that i guess the problem is the hierarchy.
Do you have any suggestion about this issue ?
We are on XI 3.1 SP3.

I do have hierarchies in the BO coming from BW. But didn't encountered any such issue. But here are some points that you
can check..
Make sure the hierarchy is activated in BW?
In BEx you have option called "Expand to Level", value is selected depending on the no. of levels.
You are not getting the partial results on BO side.
Also try to execute the query on BO with only single hierarchy level each time to make sure that the problem is with hierarchy.

create an BW iview and in the name of the query string in ep simply give the url of webtemplate of ur query. save the ivew and execute the query.

How to integrate existing value into one in hierarchy char.

I have a char. hierarchy call ZCOMP_CODE. ZLEADER is compounding with ZCOUNTRY.
The master data in ZCOMP_CODE looks like
ZLEADER;ZCOMP_CODE;
010;1000;
010;1001;
010;1002;
020;1000;
021;1000;
In query I have char. ZCOMP_CODE in row and one KF ZREVENUE in column. Previously we calculated ZLEADER 010,020,021 separately. But, now I want to calculated ZLEADER 020 and 021 together. Does anyone know how to integrate two existing value into one and display it in query? Do I need to create a new hierarchy node for including 020,021?

don't know how you can achieve this in the query...
but in the workbench there's a solution. Just add a routine in the transformation to change 021 to 020.
if you need to have still the 021 info somewhere, create a ZCOMPANY_CODE2 where you store only the values needed (010, 020)... use this company code as hierarchy in the report, and use the other company code for displaying the 021...

I've a web dynpro application, which has some hard coded hostnames in the source code.
All hard coded hostnames should be moved to some else place, either engine parameters or external configuration file.
Searching over the project, hard coded hostnames were found in following file types:
- wdmodel files
- properties files
- java files
How to inject external configured hostnames into web dynpro applications, especially wdmodel and property files? Are threre best practices?

property file is supposed to do that job, you can configure the value at nwa after the application is deployed.

How can I copy XML into WEB-INF/classes during webapp build in Workshop?

I am having difficulty performing what seems to be a simple task. I would like to move some XML configuration files from WEB-INF/src to WEB-INF/classes as part of the Workshop build. Unfortuantely, the class com.bea...WebAppBuildTask called from Ant only seems to know how to compile Java into the directory and to copy *.properties files. I am unable to find Javadoc on the class to see if there are configuration options. In addition, the actual location to which classes are compiled seems to be abstracted from me.
Any help would be appreciated.

Create a custom build file for the project and add a ant tasks to move
the files. The ant tasks would look something like this:

Place the properties file in a java project, instead of a web-project :(
Load them as resources relative to WEB-INF :(
Add a dummy project, tell the dummy project to use your own ant file
that does the moving. Order your projects to do this dummy project
before the web project :(

Now once i invoke this JSP page I am getting the 500 internal server error.
The error message is :

I guess I have two answer on two levels. The wordpress plugin (EdgeSuite) allows you to place compositions inline or use iframes, so it is not really plugin vs. iframes.
EdgeSuite brings various benefits (if you ask me):
First of all, it comes down to just uploading stuff, place it, done. No ftp upload, filehandling or whatsoever.
More over that the plugin enables sharing of core edge libraries. E.g. if you place two compositions on a page without modifying them, all the edge libraries (edge.js, jquery, yep, easings...) will be loaded twice as they sit in different directories. Same with viewing compositions on different pages, each composition loads its own set of libraries. 10 different compositions results in 10x loading of all libs. Edge Suite on the other hand alters the path for the resources and places them in one directory. Libs are only loaded once, for the whole page.
If you have a simple website cluttering your webspace at root level might be an option. If you are using a CMS and have 10 compositions that is just awful. EdgeSuite places all composition files in a clean file structure within subfolders, no cluttering.
That's just from the top of my head.
The iframe topic is a bit more difficult. Personally I think iframes are mostly bad practice. It's like in the early days of the web with table layouts and framesets. There are cases where iframes make total sense and are the best way to go and that's why EdgeSuite can also render iframes. But I personally only want to "see" an iframe when there is no other option. If you can do it inline, do it inline. Bad SEO, loading times, semantic fragmentation... security aspects, sandboxing on the other hand are just a couple of the most common arguments. Most of the arguments don't directly apply to the context of Edge Animate, but still... decide for yourself

You could develop your own ADF Faces / JSF component and use a Javascript library for drawing. Have a look at e.g. Raphael for cross-browser compatible vector drawing:

You'd "just" have to wrap this as an ADF Faces component to integrate it in your ADF application.
Of course, if you've got Flash knowledge available you could do this in Flash (or simply use Java 2D and emebed it as an applet in the ADF page). But I think using HTML5 / Javascript would be more in line with ADF technology...

1. I am very new to Business Objects and .Net. I need to know what's the best approach
when intergrating bo into my web app i.e which sdk do i use?

2. Where do i find a standalone install for the Business Objects Enteprise XI .Net providers?
I only managed to find the wssdk but i can't find the others. Business Objects Enteprise XI
does not want to install on my machine (development) - installed fine on server, so i was hoping i could find a standalone install.

To answer question one, you can use the Enterprise .NET SDK for each, though for viewing Webi documents it is much easier to use the opendocument method of URL reporting to view them.
The Crystal Reports and PDF instances can be viewed easily using the SDK.

Previously oracle http server included built-in php module so i could start php scripts under it but in the newest(web tire) version there is no built-in php module.
