How to jump into an existing website

i created a site about 15 years  ago. it has since been maintained by someone else, and now it's back in  my lap. I used a different program to design it then and i'm heck'a  rusty at the whole thing.
i need help with how to get  access to the site,  I have the host info and password, but i'm not  seeing how to do that in Dreamweaver.

Hi,
there are at least two ways.
The one is that you can configure an access by means of DW, the other is carrying out in an external FTP program. I personally prefer the latter.
So I use to upload my files and sometimes for the opposite way, for a necessary download from my server, by using filezilla. It simply looks easier for me to keep track of all operations precisely and generate or reflect easily the desired tree structure.
Above all, FileZilla has a feature (translation from my German FileZilla) called "compare file list". Here it's possible to use file size or modification time as a criterion. There is also the possibility to "hide identical files", so that only these files which you want to redact remain visible.
And even if it means you have to install a new program, I am convinced that there is an advantage. Here is the link to get it and where you can read informations about how it works:
http://filezilla-project.org/ and
http://wiki.filezilla-project.org/Tutorial#Using_the_site_manager
Mac: Mac OS X
http://filezilla-project.org/download.php
Of course, you also need all the access data to reach your server.

  • How do you embed a gallery into an existing website?

I have an existing website and I would like to embed a Lightroom gallery into that website. I am not sure how to get it on my web page since the code from the gallery puts out an index.html page. The program has everything I want but only if I can put into existing web pages.
I can upload the page and get it to run on its own but that is not what I want. I want it embeded into my existing website. Thanks.

One way to do it is put each gallery in its own subdirectory of your main page (you can use multiple sub galleries) and then have the main page in the root that links to the index.html files in each subdirectory. If your main page is not in the root you have to add the appropriate structure in the return link in the lightroom created gallery "Web or Mail Link" setting.
In the main page the link to my NATURE page would be   ../nature/index.html
Then in the Lightroom created NATURE page you can use the "Contact Info" or "Identity Plate" (This can be graphical as shown on my page)     "Web or Mail Link" setting to return to the main page using      ../index.html

  • What is the easiest way to put a photo gallery into an existing website?

I am ready to give up.  This really can't be this difficult.
Either that or I am the dumbest person in the world.  Up until now, I didn't know that I was.
    I just want something easy.
I am designing a website using Dreamweaver Cs5.5.  I am on a PC with Windows Vista Operating System.
I have an existing website www.metzartonline.com.
On the Gallery page, I want to include a simple photo gallery where I can showcase paintings.  I would like a simple (theres that word again) grid that shows the photos as thumbnails.  When you click on the thumbnail, it shows the image in a larger size with a small caption.
I've tried using Bridge which was very easy to set up but I'm at a loss on how to integrate that into the webpage.  After lots of research, I've come to the conclusion that integrating that into an existing website just insn't that easy to do.
I purchased the Classic Photo Gallery from Flash Development 24 because it was described as "easy to use."
It is not easy to use.
The steb by step guide for one, isn't even written in proper English.  I've tried to work with it an I've emailed support several times.
I'm ready to give that up.
I just want to make a simple gallery that I can integrate into an existing website.
Can anyone suggest the easiest program to use?
    Please?

You can use Adobe Bridge (it is built into Dreamweaver) and Adobe Fireworks.  Once you have Dreamweaver open, go to File and you will see "Browse in Bridge".  Adobe Fireworks is a separate program and must be installed to make this work.  The instructions below are step by step and I was able to follow them even though I am not overly experienced in Dreamweaver.  I created these with Dreamweaver CS4 but the instructions below should work for CS5 as well.
The first address here is to create a photo gallery with the Adobe Output Module which you open in Bridge.
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Bridge/3.0/WSCF044571-2772-4d28-9EBD-2C9F46AF008A.html
The second address explains how to incorporate the gallery into a Dreamweaver page.
    http://foundationphp.com/tutorials/gallery/embed1.php
Here is my wife's website for her art:   www.tanglewoodbrushstrokes.com
You may want to look at the galleries there first to see if they are what you are looking for.
There are two disadvantages to these galleries.  One is that to add or subract images requires creating a new gallery.  The good side is that this can be done fairly quickly once you become accustomed to how they are created.  I can do a new one now in a half hour or less.  To make it easier, you can go to split screen once you have the new gallery made and substitute the html for the new gallery in place of the old one without recreating your page parameters for the gallery.
Secondly, the galleries created in Fireworks use flash technology so they will not work on Iphones or Ipads.  To correct this on my wife's website, I upgraded to CS5.5 in order to use HTML5.  I am going through the tutorials for creating HTML5 web pages now.  Once I have completed them, I will be re-doing my wife's site.  I haven't yet figured out how I will create and install the galleries yet.  I have posed a question about albums for HTML5 on this forum.  Using HTML5 appears to be more complex than what I have experienced in the past, but we will see.
Hope this helps.  Don't get too frustrated when you go through the tutorials above.  Take your time and you will be able to figure it out.  If I could do it, so can you.  I am a 65 year old retiree who only began working with Dreamweaver about three years ago.  My work experience was not in the computer field although we bought our first computer, an Apple IIE, in 1980.

  • How do you edit an existing website in iWeb?

how do you edit an existing website in iWeb?

An existing website as in: editing one which has not previously been uploaded via iWeb?
I don't think you can. With the wysiwyg editing of iWeb, you can create a whole new website, make a new subdomain site or even upload a few extra created pages.
Thing is iWeb will only upload or save what you are making in it, therefore you can upload a whole new website to a domain, or upload them manually with ftp-clients. That also means you can't import an exsisting, for example html, script and edit it.
So in short: for as far as I know, you can't import whole pages into iWeb and edit those, you can only create and upload them.
Or as in: editing one I've already made, and uploaded on the same Mac?
Then simple make the changes you want, and hit the "Publish" button in the far down-left corner of the window. It will then overwrite the site you currently have.

  • How to jump into shopping cart from ERP

    Hi All,
I am working on utilities report in SRM server, If I execute the report the shopping cart per product will display at the output in ALV.
If I click on the Transaction number the needs to Jump into shopping cart.
Could any one please suggest me how to do this requirement.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Praba

    Hi Praba,
It might be best to provide details on where you currently are with this project, i.e. is all you are looking for the WD Component to call to open shopping cart status or do you already have this but calling it results in runtime error or similar?
It is very important to include all the details rather than asking  something like 'suggest me how to do this requirement', this indicates to the general community that you have not even tried yourself to do this and if the issue is that you are unable to code such a task then you should raise a thread in the relevent ABAP forums.

  • Integrating Muse into an existing website

    Hi There
i currently use muse to add landing pages to our existing website but i have come across a few problem regarding integration and was wondering if anyone could help. The way i integrate muse into our website is to host all of the files on our server then re-link the html to point to the files. the HTML for the landing pages are actually inserted into a a div tag basically its a website within a website but the html has to be pasted into our cms system for it to work. I have come across a few problems out line below:
The muse code interferes with the main website code and changes all of the menu font etc.
an error message appears saying files are missing etc (if i remove the warning code this disapears but im presuming there is a warning for a reason)
when i remove the error message the light box function disapears
the main website has a drop down feature on the tabs above the muse page but this doesnt respond on the page.
If you could advise on integrating this i would be very grateful. an example of what i mean can be found at http://arco.co.uk/vinnietest and the html code i use is below:
    <div style="width:996px; margin:-10px -10px 0 -10px;">

I need to add additional buttons to an existing website.

We need a lot more information than that, Kelly. Where is it hosted? Was it originally done in Muse? If so, the easiest way is to get the Muse file from whoever did the site in the first place.

  • How to locate or find existing website on new new computer

six months ago i bought a new computer and now cannot modify an existing website created and published in Muse on the new computer. files cannot be found. what are the solutions to transfer files from old computer to new computer

You can use any cloud service , upload the files to creative cloud and access them, alternatively you can use third party services like dropbox etc.
    Thanks,

  • Embedding a slideshow into my existing website

I have created a thumbnail slideshow in Muse that I would like to embed in my existing business website.  What is the best way to do this, or is it even possible?  I have tried to publish to catalyst from Muse and then right click, view source on the slideshow, and then copy and paste the code directly into the code on my site, but when I do this, I only see "red x" images.  Basically, I want a thumbnail slideshow on my home page with pictures that can then be linked to other parts  of the site. If it is possible to do this, step by step instructions would be appreciated, as I am not an experienced web designer.  My business site is a template I have added content to through the host of the site, if that makes any sense.
    Thanks in advance,
    Randy

The reason you are getting red x's is because the code cannot find the images associated with them. To view the code, you should export the HTML instead of viewing the source in the browser.
To successfully copy the widget you're going to need to copy all of the enccessary assets, not just the HTML.
This includes all of the: HTML, CSS, Javascript and images
    Hope this helps,
    Julia

Hello, I am new to Muse, however, I build sites in Dreamweaver and WordPress so not new to building sites. How do I add an existing website to Muse to work on? Site in question was built by someone and we have access to all the files but not sure how to get the site files into Muse to work on.....??

I checked in all the folders too. See image below.

  • Going mobile with an existing website

I created a website about two years ago for a client that they now want to be able to access it on an iPhone and an iPad.  They claim they cannot see the website on either of those two devices.  Since I have neither device, I have no idea what they are or are not seeing.  (Site URL:  www.fulcrumcwi.com)
My question is how do I make the existing website usable on those two devices.  I've never done this before so I'm taking this as an opportunity to learn how to do this. Could someone recommend some resources to learn how to do this?
    Thanks so much!

Now I'm curious, which mobile browser does target="_blank" not work on?
Weird. I've just tested it again in iPad 3, iPod touch, Android 2.2, and Android 3. It works in all of them.
When I tested in iPad 3 before, I tapped the second two links in the right sidebar several times, and nothing happened. That's why I looked at the source code to see why the links wouldn't work.
Obviously, I was wrong on that point. Nevertheless, I don't think using target="_blank" is a good idea on mobile devices. The iPod touch (which is basically an iPhone without the phone) makes the transition very clear, but it wasn't at all clear on my HTC Desire (Android 2.2). Fortunately, I was able to go back using the phone's back button.
Going back to the question of whether special treatment is needed for mobile devices, I would say that the site is OK on a tablet, but it's very difficult to use on a mobile phone. The user needs to rescale each page as it's loaded, and on some mobile devices, it's necessary to swipe constantly to the left and right to read everything. If I were the client, I would expect the layout to be optimized for small screens using the viewport <meta> tag and media queries.
My advice to the original poster would be to ask the client to say specifically what doesn't appear to be working correctly. Also take a look at my two-part tutorial on media queries: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/introducing-media-queries.html. Just changing the layout for mobile phones would work wonders.

  • In Formscentral: is the form SECURE with SSL even if my existing website does not have SSL?

I plan to embed my new form with html into my existing website. My website does not have SSL. I would like my new form to be SSL secure (will have credit card numbers.) Will the upgraded plan provide this security?

When a form is embedded the submission is protected with SSL. You shouldn't collect credit card information using FormsCentral because the service is not PCI compliant. You should instead use our new integration with PayPal - it supports credit cards and paypal account payments. The credit card info is processed by paypal and they are PCI compliant.
Here is a tutorial on the new payments features: http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-1632

1.Is this facility only for new domain name or can be used for existing website (live)?
2.Do we transfer a whole website content into this Host Site? Or only a link?
3.If it a facility similar principle like web hosting, what database engine, and language it support?
Maybe my questions are not relate at all with your Host Site terminology, if so please explain more detail about it or direct me to read your article of how step by step we can utilize this service.

If you already have a domain you can associate it with 1 of the 5 sites included with the BC web hosting services included with Creative Cloud
2.Do we transfer a whole website content into this Host Site? Or only a link?
You can create and publish an entire site, this is typically done with either Dreamweaver or Muse.
3.If it a facility similar principle like web hosting, what database engine, and language it support?
The service that does the hosting is Business Catalyst and the included service is webBasics. This FAQ has info about the service.

  • Members only area of website and how to connect it to existing database

I am trying to create a members login section on an existing website. We have a MS Access database of clients, and I need the website login creation to be able to look at our database and only let the person create an account, if they are on that list.
I've successfully completed a walkthrough/tutorial on creating a members only area of a website, but that allows anyone and everyone to create an account. I need a way to force that check before the new user account is allowed. Any help will ge greatly appreciated!

    Hi,
According to your description, I think your issue is more about how to connect to Access database from your web site, instead of Access development.
Which type of connection do you want to use? Is it ADO.NET?
If so, I suggest you posting in ADO.NET Managed Providers
    forum for more effective responses.
If not, you can choose a proper forum based on the type of the connection or your developing language.

  • How do I import an existing finalised imovie into a new project either in part or full. The movie I want to import is filed under "movies" but greyed out when I go through the procedure in imovie 11

How do I import an existing finalised movie clip into  a new developing project ? I go through the imovie 11 procedure for importing and the list of clips (finalised and un-finalised) appears, but always "greyed out" which makes it impossible to create anything. I have tried placing it on the desk top and dragging but this doesn't work either.

AppleMan  Thanks very much for the information, however I could't make it work. I followed your instructions to the letter, in fact I tried every which-way. I created a dedicated file into which I copied and pasted the project from "package contents"  but it was still greyed out when I went to retrieve it. I also found that the file size was reduced to only a few Kb.  Any further step-by-step instructions would be appreciated as I am obviously doing something wrong.  Babowa  It appears that in imovie everything has to be "finalised" before it can be used or shared elsewhere in the same way as a disk has to be to be played elsewhere. Funnily enough an MOV file I converted to Mp4 was not greyed out and I was able to import it.... an exercise I am not keen on because of resolution loss during conversion
