How to keep 2 disconnected databases in snyc?

I need to keep two database in sync which are not connected. But one is Standard Edition of 10g and the other is Express Edition of 10g.
How it can be done?
Is there any method to use redo logs of Express in the Standard edition database to view the changes done?

I'm working on a project that will have 2 different versions of a book (multiple docs in a book container).  The two versions will be very similar, except there will be some differences in the text, and one of the books will also have some documents not included.
I'm trying to figure out the best way to organize this project.  If we create two different sets of documents, then whenever we need to make a general change, we have to do it two times in both sets of documents, potentially doubling our work.  If we have one set of documents, then we could create two layers in those documents for the difference in text, but then we'll have issues building the book because the pagination is different between the two books, and we'll have to remember to enable the correct layers in the individual documents.
Has anyone had experience with a situation like this, or do you have advice about how we might manage this?
Thanks.
Have you looked at conditional text?
The different pagination between versions is always going to be an issue if text flows differ. You might handle this with paragraph heading styles that start at the top of a page, to "resynchronize" the starts of portions of the documents; however, this can leave awkward empty spaces. If you just meant that repagination would be necessary to account for missing or present chapter files or portions of content, automatic page numbering takes care of itself.
You will have to remember to turn on/off a particular condition or set.

  • WRT54GS and DSL: how to keep it disconnected

Hi, I have a DSL link that I pay per use and I would like to keep it disconnected until I need it for the Internet access or email. Is there a parameter I can set on the router to have it working in that way? Do I have to stop some service on the computer (Win Vista Home Premium) to avoid any connection request if not manually required? Thank you very much for your help, best regards, Massimo

Log into the router's UI, on the Setup tab there should be two options something to the effect of On Demand and Keep Alive.  Enable On Demand and set the time. On Demand will time out after the set time and should re-establish the connect when you use it. Keep Alive is continuously on. I have mine on Keep Alive so I don't know how effective On Demand is.

  • How to keep EJBs and Database Tables in sync ?

Hello dear fellow JDeveloper 11 users,
after i created some EJB 3 entity beans and some offline database table definitions
i would like to get them linked to each other, and to keep them in sync.
where do i do that? cant find it, have i missed it?
    thanks for any tips,

    thomas.nagel (at) materna.de

Both questions are not JDev 11 specific and work in JDev 10.1.3.x also.
To keep entities in sync you have tell the underlying orm layer when to refresh its cache. One way for doing this is to use hints in the NamedQueries like this one
                    hints =
{ @QueryHint(name = TopLinkQueryHints.REFRESH, value = HintValues.TRUE)Linking EJBs could be easily done (ie automagically during EJB from Tables creation) if the underlying datamodel uses foreign keys relationships.

This seems like something everyone would want to do. I don't know why Apple won't give us a simple solution. They could even charge us for it. I would pay!
Has anyone solved this? What is your solution?
    Thanks!

If you just want to be able to sync your devices to the same PC without having them get overwritten all the times, here is a free method
    http://cnettv.cnet.com/sync-your-ipod-two-computers/9742-1_53-50004835.html
Basically, you put the same itunes database file on all the PCs. This fakes itunes into thinking it is always the same PC and the ipod is OK to sync with it. It will NOT keep your libraries truly synced, though. I've just resigned myself to always buying from one PC and manually transferring the content to other PCs I want it on.

  • How to keep track of how many times a link has been clicked?

How to keep track of how many times a link has been clicked or accessed? Do I need to use database for this?

    Hi
Proably something like this can work,
1> Have a servlet/bean invoked when the link is linked
2> have a static variable in that servlet/bean wich gets incremented before the control is passed to another desired page..
The problem with this approach is that care has to be taken that the servlet/bean is not re-instalised, in case of which the static variable will also be instalised and the data would be lost.
The best thing is to store the count in the database.

  • How Do I Delete Disconnected Thumbnails in Elements 11

How do I delete disconnected thumbnails in Elements 11?
In previous versions, I could easily do this using Reconnect All Missing Files, but Reconnect no longer has an option to delete thumbnails, that I can see.

MSExplorer wrote:.Why is Elements creating these thumbnails in the first place?
Just compare your catalog to the physical catalog book you get for an art museum : you have all sorts of information about the paintings, their authors, descriptions, indexes... and you are shown a small 'thumbnail' for each painting. That is to enable quick identification of the paintings.
In a catalog, each thumbnail is a very small reduction of the original. All those thumbnails are stored in the catalog folder itself, in a file named thumbs.5.cache.
    Now, about 'disconnected' files.
There is some ambiguity here : 'disconnected files' are media files for which the path stored in the database is wrong. The reason is generally because the media file has been moved, renamed or deleted. There is still the old path in the database, but it is no longer valid.
For 'offline' media, that means that the physical drive is disconnected, but the paths stored in the database (catalog) are still correct. You simply have to plug in your external media to give the organizer or editor access to the real media file.

  • ITunes forgets my CD files...how do I rebuild tune database? - Revisited

    Hi:
    I tried follwoing your advice.
I can do the Ctrl-A to select all songs in the iTunes libary.
I can right-click and select Delete,
but when I do, I do not get the 3 options that you mentioned
(Cancel, Keep Files, and Move To Recycle Bin)
I get a dialog box stating:
Are you sure you want to remove the selcted songs from your iTunes library?
These songs will also be remove from any iPod or iPhone which synchronizes with your iTunes library.
Why am I not getting the options you stated above ?
I have seen you oprions on a Mac at best Buy, but I am running an HP laptop under Vista Home Premium.
Then has a Remove or Cancel button to be clicked.
If I follow through with the above, will it wipe out my music library ?
How do I go about rebuilding the databse ?
    Thank you

Sorry DaleB, I have redone my library so many times, I forgot about this prompt. Just click 'yes'/'remove' to that question.
Reloading the library will only make your iPod resync again, thats all.

    Hi:
    A related issue.
I made a copy (backup ?) of the Music folder in Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit OS, to my Desktop. If something corrupts the Music in iTunes, will this be a "good enough" backup to be able to restore the music by moving it back into the Music folder, or will soemthing be missing ?
    Thanx !

    ==============================================================================

    Hi:
I did not move them arounsd outsice of iTunes.
I copied & pasetd them in iTunes, but in some cases, they became subfolders.
e.g., I may have a main folder in iTunes called "Rolling Stones", and subfolder iteled after their Greatest Hits album "Hot Rocks". Initially,
Hot Rocks was a folder at the same level as Rolling Stones. Thenm I create a subfolder within Rollng Stones and then copied and pasted all of the MP3 files from the main folder (Hot Rocks) into the subfolder (Hot Rocks), and then deleted the main folder (Hot Rocks). But, iTunes now tells me it can find the songs. The Apple guy at best Buy showed me how to delete the current database without deleting the actual tunes, and then rebuild the database, all in a few mouse clicks. But, this was on a Mac...I do not know if iTunes for Windows has the same menu features as the Mac version. I just forgot the steps that he went through.

  • Does LR keep its entire database in memory?

I've seen at least one thread here discussing a problem I have with LR 1.0 - it gets MUCH slower as you add images.
I had only four images in it for a while, just to try out the interface. Had no issues with it.
Now that I've imported my entire library (15k images, ~90GB, mix of D200 NEF, 300D CRW, and JPEGs), LR seems to randomly pause for MINUTES at a time with the spinning wheel of death. Since my originals are on a USB drive, I can tell that it is NOT accessing my RAW files. I can only assume that it's thrashing the swap file (off-the-shelf MacBook 2GHz Core 2 Duo with 1GB RAM). I did NOT have this problem with just four images.
The problem is most prevalent when I switch folders in the Library module. The Develop module actually works fine. When I did the import I told it to render standard-size previews, which defaults to 1440px wide on my machine.
Is it trying to keep a database of 15k images in memory?
    -jpjerkins

John, I would doubt it. The amount of memory required for (your example)
15,000 images would be staggering. Like most other programs it probably uses
    hard drive space.
As for why it slows down. I am sure part of that is because hard drives in
the grand scheme of things are slow as dead postmen in a blizzard going up
hill. But, I suspect another reason for the slow down is the database. There
is a lot of data that needs to be juggled when you add images, remove
images, update/change images or even move from one image to another.
It will be interesting to see how well LR handles the database once you have
100,000 or more images in it. This was one reason I was against the database
method. I have yet to find any image cataloging program that uses a database
that can handle a large number of images without choking to death. This
includes ACDsee, Cumulus, Portfolio and others. Time will tell.

  • How to Keep Alive a specific HFM application

My PRD landscape has 2-3 applications. Whenever any application loads for the first time in the memory, it takes quite some time before it is loaded. Once the application is loaded, the response times are pretty quick and acceptable.
During specific parts of the day / month, a specific application becomes active. During this time, other applications may or may not be used, but one specific application is definitely used. I want to keep this application's cubes loaded in the RAM, so that response times are quick, whenever the user needs it - whether for the first time or otherwise.
How to keep alive a specific application's cubes alive and loaded in RAM? I am not looking for general solution like setting the "FM Service" to Automatic (currently it is set Manual) - setting this to Automatic, will affect all applications. However, I am looking for a specific application at a specific period of time.
I am ok with a custom solution if required. Let me know, what are my options.

I think you are looking for an inappropriate solution to your problem. Most HFM applications take a few seconds to start up. If your application takes such a long time to start up you really need to examine the root cause. Start by removing the Sub NoInput and Sub Input routines in your rules to see if this is the reason the application takes so long to start.
If the removal of those routines does not significantly change the startup time, look through the event logs for possible causes. It is possible you have a connection problem with the Oracle database for example, or you have an environment configuration problem where the HFM application servers have a very slow connection to the database server, or possibly the database server performs poorly.
I strongly suggest you investigate these root casues first before trying to make HFM behave in a non-standard way. Certainly you can start the HFM Management Service, which will start all of your HFM applications and keep them all up and running. This approach does not allow the applications to shut down on their own though. Only use this if you have exchausted your investigations (as I suggsted above).

  • How to keep connection of network service in win8.1

    Dear sir / madam,
i would like to ask how to keep connection of network service in win8.1, after i logout / switch user/ sleep.
    thanks

    Hi,
Did you have any issue on your computer?
The network is disconnection when you logged off the computer. This is expected behavior.
The network is stayed connection when you switch the user.
For sleep mode, check the following setting:
right click the network device in Device Manager and go up to the top and hit
Power Management. Then uncheck the box that says "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".

  • How to duplicate by rman database?

dear sir, i read one article and follow step and 2nd auxiliary database i delete all dbf, ctl, log(redo) files ...then tryying to create dubplicate giving me error
can some one send steps of it
    rgds
    shahzad

    Database Duplication with RMAN
Use the RMAN DUPLICATE command to create a copy of the target database that you can use for testing. The command restores backups and copies of the primary database's files and creates a new database.
As part of the duplicating operation, RMAN manages the following:
Restores the target datafiles into the duplicate database and performs incomplete recovery using all available archived log and incremental backups.
Opens the duplicate database with the RESETLOGS option after incomplete recovery to create the online redo logs.
Generates a new, unique database identifier for the duplicate database.
Note also the following features of RMAN duplication. You can:
Skip read-only tablespaces with the SKIP READONLY clause (read-only tablespaces are included by default). You can also exclude any tablespace with the SKIP TABLESPACE clause so long as it is not the SYSTEM tablespace and does not contain rollback or undo data. If you omit tablespaces, then you can add them later.
Create your duplicate database in a new host. If the same directory structure is available, then you can use the NOFILENAMECHECK option and reuse the target datafile filenames for the duplicate datafiles.
Create your duplicate database by using the SET UNTIL command or UNTIL clause of the DUPLICATE command to recover it to a noncurrent time. By default, the DUPLICATE command creates the database using the most recent backups of the target database and then performs recovery to the most recent consistent point contained in the incremental and archived redo log backups.
Use the duplicate database without a recovery catalog.
Register the duplicate database in the same recovery catalog as the target database. This option is possible because the duplicate database receives a new database identifier during duplication. If you copy the target database using operating system utilities, then the database identifier of the copied database remains the same so you cannot register it in the same recovery catalog.
Figure 6-3 illustrates a case of database duplication. In this example, RMAN creates two duplicate database by using one set of datafile backups: one database on the local host and one database a remote host.
Figure 6-3 Creating a Duplicate Database from Backups
Text description of the illustration sbr81078.gif
The method you use to duplicate your database depends on whether you are creating your duplicate database on the same or a different host and whether the duplicate directory structure is the same as your target database directory structure. For example, in some cases you can keep the same directory structure and filenames in your duplicate database, while other times you must rename the files.

  • How to keep the JSP content constant when page refresh?

    Hi All,
When I click page tabs in WLP, it will trigger a refresh event.
The portlet has a webflow with a refresh event whose destination is
lastContentUrl(referent-namespace is portal, cloned from portlet2.wf).
The question is when the page changed, the jsp files which use
request.getParameter() to get parameters will fail to fulfill what they
need because the event provide none parameter.
So that everytime page changed, these portlets will have quite strange
    contents.
How to keep these content constant when page changed?
    Sincerely,
    Alan.

The problem is still there if the jsp file is about inserting a new record
    into the database.
If these parameters are gotten from the session, mutliple insertings will be
attempted when the portlet is refresh.
Maybe we can put some control flags in the session to judge the correct
behavior, but the method results the session full of parameters(control
    flags).
Or is there any better design?
    Alan.

    Alan,
You could use the session to put your parameters in instead of letting itride completely
on the request object. Although, your question is more than just makingthe content
reappear, it’s about holding state. The project that I am working on, theusers
decided that they want the page portlets to go back to the "normal" state, not the
"Maximized" view. So, I put a processor in between the internal.refreshwildcard
and the Preprocessor input processor so that all the portlets would beseen in their
    "normal" state.
    Good Luck

Regards,That's a very new term and AFAIK, there is no such term within Oracle. The data doesn't need to be active or inactive. Its just there when the database comes up and as long as you don't access it, it just stays there. What you can do is either to make the tablespace offline so that the data is not accessible at all or make it read only so that its not modifiable at all.
But still, as Pierre asked, you may want to tell us exactly what you want to do.
