How to keep Folder Windows From Opening When Turning On System

I have a couple hard drives connected to my APExtreme. When I turn on my Mac Mini it mounts the drives correctly and shows them on the desktop. It also opens windows for each drive. How do I keep these windows from opening?

Hmm.. probably not.
You want to open Mail. Then go into Preferences > General and you will see something similar to this:
In the area marked Default Mail reader click on the pull down and at the bottom of the list it will say Other. You can see if you can select Safari here and if that will open up Safari.

hello, this might happen when firefox is not able to properly save preferences in its profile folder. please try this: Click the menu button [[Image:New Fx Menu]] and then click help [[Image:Help-29]] > troubleshooting information > profile folder - "show folder". then a new window will open up. in this window look out for a file named '''user.js''' (it might be used to overwrite your custom settings). in case it is present , delete or rename this file and restart firefox afterwards.

Image Capture (in your Applications Folder) - In the preferences you can decide to 'Do Nothing' when a camera is connected.
Some versions also have this option in the iPhoto Preferences.

How to keep notification window from stealing focus from main AIR window

Hi,
We have an AIR (JavaScript based) chat application that uses the technique posted at the following link to display a notiifcation window each time the user receives a new message. The notification window gradually fades away after 5 seconds.

The technique uses HTMLLoader.createRootWindow to create and display the notification window.
The issue we are having is that the notification window steals/removes focus from the main AIR window, which is annoying if you are in the middle of typing a message that you want to send to other users. Once the notification fades away, focus is returned to the main AIR window.
I searched the AIR documentation to see if there is a way to keep the notification window from stealing focus, but came up empty. I'm hoping I'm overlooking something. Can anyone help out?

2- Menu Item Type = Magic.
3- Change Magic Item = Window
4- Command Type = Null.
5.Visible In Menu = Yes.

How do we stop an extra window from opening when we use openDoc in 3.1?

We have migrated content from XI r2 to 3.1 and when we use the opendoc/openDocument.jsp, it works but is also opening a blank browser window. Any idea how to prevent this? We've tested on 3 different versions of IE (6, 7 and 8). It doesn't appear to be affected by user preference settings in InfoView and doesn't seem to matter if the new parameter is part of the URL. Here's a sample URL:

We get the same result if we're using Crystal, Webi or Xcelsius and we get the same result if we use the wizard and build the connection on a Webi report so it's using the opendocument.jsp file that's in AnalyticalReporting\opendoc

Thanks for the reply. We did try adding the window.close to the Tomcat55\webapps\OpenDocument\opendoc\isApplication.jsp file and that resolved the issue. However, we eventually figured out that we could get by without the customization by using different parameters in the report links.
This example works for Xcelsius (to Xcelsius, Webi)- it has to have the appKind and isApplication parameter:

How do I stop thumbnails from opening when inserting pdf in Acrobat XI.

Operating system is Windows 7. I just upgraded from Acrobat X. When I inserted a pdf into another pdf it was done. In Acrobat XI when I insert the thumbnails column opens up and I have to click on it to close it. This is annoying.

Bill, where do I find the initial view? I did a chat with Adobe and was told this was designed in to Acrobat XI and that every time it opened I could press F4 to close it. They had me fill out a Feature/Bug report.

Want to stop multiple spam windows from opening when I click on a link

All of a sudden when I click on a link all sorts of spam windows open up. I have "Pop-Up" windows set to off....but they still open...also all of a sudden pages on line will have tons of words highlighted as hough they are links.... and when I click on them thinking it is a link it is another annoying pop up window. You should always pay attention when installing software because often, a software installer includes optional installs, such as this adware. Be very careful what you agree to install.

HOW TO KEEP ELEMENT 6 from openning/saving ALL PDF's.

Suddenly , my system (Windows 2010) is saving all PDF's to Photoshop Elements 6..and opening all PDF's directly into 6.

When you say windows 2010, which version of windows is that?

Prior to Yosemite I had trouble with Pages where it closed down the app when I closed a document.
I was given a command line to put in the 'Terminal' to deactivate Pages. This worked.
That command was - -g NSDisableAutomaticTermination -bool TRUE/False. But that isn't recognised any longer when I reverse the True/False.
But I now don't want Pages to open automatically when I Log in.
The box is not ticked for Pages in System Preferences- Users- Login Items.

It needs to be removed from the list, not just unticked.
