How to keep lightroom from logging off?
I have a close to 100,000 images in my catalog and every time I have to open lightroom it takes a long time for it to open and download. How can I keep lightroom open so it is ready to go?
The number of images in the catalog should have no detrimental impact on the performance of Lightroom. Tell us about your computer:
What OS?
How much RAM?
How much free disk space?
Etc.

How to keep transitions from throwing off beat markers?
I love using View/Snap to Beats when adding a series of photos to a soundtrack! Right now I am using iMovie 9.0.9 vs iMovie 11 since i believe beat markers have been eliminated. Anyway, perhaps in a version a little earlier than 9.0.9, the markers landed near the middle of 2.0s transitions, so that the photos in synch with the music. But now, the markers start at the very beginning of transitions, so that all the photos are noticeably behind the music! What a bummer. . . . until i figure this out! hopefully with your help. This is the first time I have ever entered anything to Support discussions. Thanks, Ko
<E-mail Edited by Host>Hello Ko
In iMovie ’11 there are beat markers. Check out the articles below to go through the steps for adding beat markers.

I am running Windows 7. I have 250 photos from a trip that I want to load to the iPad v 6.1.3.1 and show as slide show (in named order). I can not see any recent remarks regarding how to keep them from being loaded in date order
By default the photos will be sorted by the date modified.

Edit (touch) them in the order you want them to be shown. -
Anyone having the letter n pop up in Address Book Notes? Anyone able to tell me how to keep this from happening?
You can upgrade to Mavericks free, just run the App Store program and search for Mavericks. But before you do upgrade I recommend the following:
1) make sure you have a recent backup. TimeMachine is fine.
2) Mavericks is somewhat more memory hungry than 10.7 was. You will need 4 GB of RAM and I strongly recommend 8 GB.
Go back to the Apple menu and select About this Mac - look under the OS info you just looked at. You'll see how much RAM your computer has now. Then click on the More Info button. There you will see your computer info listed as in: iMac, 21.5" mid 2010, for example. Return back with that information and we can tell you how far the computer can be upgraded.
If you decide to procede and you have enough RAM upgrading to Mavericks is quite simple. Click on the download button and let it do its job. -

itunes launches itself and starts playing even when my laptop is closed, but I can still hear it. I can't figure out how to keep it from doing that.
See if a device is attached and "open iTunes when iPod is connected" is selected. https://discussions.apple.com/message/16483979#16483979
Check for other iTunes preference settings that might cause this.

I must have changed a setting by mistake.
Now, after a period of dormancy, my computer shuts down all apps and logs off.
How can I stop it from doing that?
I've tried to retrace any recent steps in the Preferences, but to no avail.
SteveNiel, thanks for putting me on the right track. I had to go to the "advanced" section of the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences to find that option. I had almost given up searching the 4 tabs on the main page in vain.
But I found it and it's turned off
Thanks again

How can I stop my Macbook Pro 3,1 (2008 model) from logging off randomly?
Hello,
Does anyone know how I can I stop my Macbook Pro from logging out randomly? (version 3,1, 2008 ish). I recently installed Snow Leopard on an upgraded hard drive (did both at the same time)---and now my machine has been randomly logging my out.
I believe this problem has happened to a lot of folks, who linked it to a WindowServer Error. Here is what my log looks like for (what I think) is the problem:
Any suggestions on how to fix it?

My best guess at this point is that this just the same "NVIDIA gldAttachDrawable" bug referenced in many posts, but that it can be triggered by different conditions/programs.

How to keep Lightroom 5 from moving to secondary monitor
Is there a setting that would keep LR from jumping to second screen?
I currently have PS and LR on main monitor with PS tools on second monitor.
On occasion LR will move to second screen which is annoying, but more annoying is trying to get it back to main screen.
thanksRefer to the reply in your other post.

How soon will the website log off
Hi....
Greetings........
How soon will the website log the user off, the application in case of no user activity ie the application is not use for long time?
so I want to know 1. how long the application(may be dashboard) is Idle
2. Is there any option to change the default log off time
Thanks in advance
BalaaYou need to be a bit more resourceful, you can't expect people to do everything for you. I don't know which websites your company blocks so I am not going to list all the language translators on the web to see which ones are and which ones are not. Ask a friend to visit the page and send a screen shot, visit the page from internet cafe or from your home internet connection. There are tons of ways to do it...

How to keep songs from the same album together in the Walkman app?
How do I keep songs from the same album together in one album instead of it being spilt up into three different albums? Is there any way to keep this from happening? I have all of the correct album information, but it still happens. I thought I would use Media Go and see if it helps but it never works properly.
Any suggestions would be much appreicated.Make sure your Album information in mp3 tags is all the same in all tracks belonging to the same album.
Clear the cache memory of Storage Media service
https://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/WALKMAN/Multiple-Song-and-playlist-appear/m-p/732329?sl=y&sso_no_log=...
If, despite having the same album information in mp3 tags and clearing cache memory, you still get multiple entries or songs belonging to the same album are split into 2-3 albums, then I suggest an easy way.
Use Winamp and create an *.m3u playlist in the same directory you have the mp3 files stored in your phone. This playlist will then appear in Playlists - My Playlists and you will be able to enjoy your music in correct order of tracks and all the tracks will be there.
That is my method (using m3u Winamp playlists) simply because Walkman app does not respect the Track Number tag in mp3 files belonging to the same album and rather sorts the tracks within the same album based on Date Created. -
How to stop Lightroom from auto-adjusting RAW files
Is there a way to stop Lightroom from automatically "fixing" my RAW files? When I first load them in they look perfect (like they do on the back of my camera), but then LR auto-adjusts them to make them dull and desaturated and not at all contrasty. Is there a way that I can set LR to not do anything to the files and let me decide what I want the original to look like?
I totally understand where II is coming from. I too find it bothersome that in some images, the pre-processed preview is a more pleasing image than the unprocessed RAW. At the same time, it is the unprocessed nature of the RAW image that is the whole attraction and point to shooting RAW. An obvious workaround (if one is willing of course) is to shoot RAW+JPEG so as to either have the JPEG as a "target" reference or final image when suitable. And that is an option I used to employ until I got tired of dealing with the issues of essentially doubling the number of images I was working with.
I do disagree with II's thought that the preview showing up is slowing down any processing of the RAW image. It would seem to me that the whole reason the preview is showing up is that it is a prerendered aspect of the file that pops up while the actual preview rendering is taking place. While I don't claim to have technical knowledge as to how this all works, I would think that LR is simply showing the initial rendering of what the RAW file is telling LR it looks like until LR can actually make it's OWN interpretation. Either way, the process is fast enough that it isn't a huge issue to me on my system. In fact, those images where I see a vast difference between the inital preview image and the LR rendered resolve no slower than the rest.
It is interesting to know that there are applications/utilities out there that will extract that inital preview though. I thionk it would be very cool if LR made use of such a capability more directly as an option.
Anyway, while the frequency of my use of LR so far pales in comparison to that of PS and Bridge, so far I can say that such discrepency between nice looking inital preview and less than so RAW is far less common than it is working with PS and Bridge CS2. -
How do I keep icons from appearing on the iPad dashboard when moving around the Internet? I understand they use up battery power.
When you close them from the task bar, you are not deleting the app, just closing it down. Most of them are not using any power at all, just are there because you recently used them, but some do use power, or keep some memory. It is a good idea to double click and shut them down at least daily, if not more often.
