How to keep messages on the server?
I have Mail 4.3 and cannot locate in preference where I can check to leave messages on the server? The computer is OS 10.7 so cant syncing with other devices so need to retrieve messages from those other devices. thank you

I now compute from two locations, home 1 and home 2, with home 1 being my main machine. RocketmanIf you have verified that the iPad and iPhone cannot see the messages after the Mac Pro at home2 downloads them, it's probably something on that Mac Pro. The smart mailbox on the other system was a false lead.
Please verify that the messages are still in the Inbox on the Mac Pro after the same messages have disappeared from view on the iPad and iPhone. I think that's what you said, so I'll assume for the moment that that's the case.
If you have multiple email accounts set up on the Mac Pro and not all are set up on the other devices, it is possible that the messages have somehow found their way into the wrong Inbox.
Can you check the individual Inboxes to verify that the messages are still in the iCloud Inbox specifically? You can click the disclosure triangle on Inbox to show the various inboxes. -
How do I delete a message in my gmail account, but keep it on the server so I can see it on my iMac when I log into gmail.com? I set up the gmail account on my iphone NOT through the colored "gmail button" but through "add account." And I've enabled IMAP in the settings when I log in on my computer to gmail.com.
Thanks!Gmail uses IMAP. It's designed to keep all of your devices in sync. If you delete on one, it will be deleted on all of them. However, deleted means that it's in the trash. You could always retrieve it when you're using your Mac. Or, just create a folder that you move things to to deal with later.

I received an email from HOTMAIL as below telling me to change the email client server to leave email message on the server. Now all emails that I reply from my blackberry device cannot be seen in Sent Folder when I open the hotmail account by using desktop computer.
How to change the server option? in what menu? I cannot find in Mozilla's Tool menu. Thank you for helping me sorting out this problem.

How do I resolve this related Ical message? The server responded with “400” to operation CalDAVUploadDropBoxFileQueueableOperation.
I am having this problem too...and also I (most of the time) can't invite anyone on my google apps domain to a meeting. WEIRD! HELP!!! I just switched to Mac from PC...this was supposed to be EASY!
I get all kinds of error messages...
1) The request for “Test Appointment” in “[email protected]” in account “yyyy.com Google” failed. The server responded with “400” to operation CalDAVScheduleEventQueueableOperation. *My google calendar *IS* updated despite the error, but the appointment is greyed out on my calendar.
2) The URL https://calendar.google.com/calendar/dav/[email protected]/user///calendar.google.com/calendar/dav/[email protected]/user/ encountered HTTP error 404. Make sure the URL is correct. The URL *IS* correct.
Also, when I try to invite people to appointments, iCal adds random attendees and frequently will not add an attendee if they are in my domain. HELP. -
I tried to send a mail message to too many addees. when the rejection came back "cannot send message using the server..." the window is too long to be able to see the choices at the bottom of it. how can I see the choices at the bottom of that window?

I'm trying to get onto facetime and I keep getting a message saying the server encountered an error processing registration please try again later. Can anybody tell me what is going on?
I have read over and actioned ALL recommendations many times over, and still get the Facetime error..! I have reset Host file, looked for iphone certificates, set time/date to auto, checked for suspect DNS entries, cleared caches etc etc. It's become a very fustrating problem. Worked fine for a long time but then suddenly stopped.

How to redownload old messages from the server
On my primary PC with Windows 7-64bit, I have my server settings to leave messages on the server for 55 days.
I need to download the old messages again into Thunderbird probably due to some problems with Time Warner Road Runner sometimes blacklisting Netflix e-mail (if that is the proper term). Netflix is aware of the problem with TWC bouncing their e-mail.
I know that if I went to another PC with Thunderbird--all the old and current messages from the last 55 days should be downloaded to it.
But how do I download them again (if possible) to my primary computer with Thunderbird? If I go to web based e-mail at TWC, my old messages from up to 55 days are listed.Close Thunderbird. Then delete the file popstate.dat in your profile.

How do I keep mail on the server as it is deleted on individaul devices? We have 4 Apple devices and a W8 laptop. We sort and read mail on all of them, but have found that deleting mail on one deletes it on all of them.
Yahoo and Gmail both support POP if you wish.
All modern email systems are Imap (because it supports multiple and mobile devices)
I do not recommend POP under any circumstances, it can not be synchronized so unless you do not use Mobile devices at all (iPhones etc) it is useless.
Yahoo users (search this site) have endless problems and Gmail is highly non-standard. Expect a learning curve for that one.
Are you short of server space, why do you need to do this rather retrograde step? -

I am trying to get my emails forwarded to my Blackberry. I have set up my Blackberry with the new email destination, which Blackberry confirmed. I receive the emails are not being forwarded to my phone. When I consulted Blackberry's help, it said that I needed to go into my server setting and select the option to leave email messages on the server. I work in Firefox, and when I look under Tools, there is no option to do this.
Firefox doesn't do email, it's a web browser.
If you are using Firefox to access web mail, you need to seek support from your service provider or a forum for that service.
