How to keep numbers from rounding up?

I am currently using the script found on this page http://forums.adobe.com/message/4098624 to average numbers with blank fields.  It is working great, however, I need the answer to not round up.  I have the number property checked allowing two decimal places.  The answer will automatically round up, but I need the answer to not round up.  For example if the answer is 3.506, it will round up to 3.51, I need it to stay at 3.50.  I need the second number after the decimal (last number) to remain what it is regardless of what the third number is.  Is there a way to do this? Thank you for your help, I have very new to all of this and have very limited knowledge.

You need to trim the value to just the number of  decimal places you want displayed. You can use the parseInt method or the Math.floor method of JavaScript.
event.value = Math.floor(event.value * 100) / 100;

  • How to Stop numbers from rounding up in cell?

    Hi,
    can someone please help me?
    I'm using Numbers on my Macbook Pro. When I insert a certain number in a cell for e.g. 140/84 it will automatically change to a fractionated version 1.66 or 1 2/3. As I'm inserting medical data for blood pressure measurements, I really need it to be exactly what I input.
    Does anyone know how to turn it off? Thanks.
    Sarah

    Hi Sarah,
    Format the cells as text before you enter the values
    Format Panel > Cell > Data Format > Text
    However, you won't be able to use the values in calculations or graphs.
    Regards,
    Ian.

    You can upgrade to Mavericks free, just run the App Store program and search for Mavericks. But before you do upgrade I recommend the following:
    1) make sure you have a recent backup. TimeMachine is fine.
    2) Mavericks is somewhat more memory hungry than 10.7 was. You will need 4 GB of RAM and I strongly recommend 8 GB.
    Go back to the Apple menu and select About this Mac - look under the OS info you just looked at. You'll see how much RAM your computer has now. Then click on the More Info button. There you will see your computer info listed as in: iMac, 21.5" mid 2010, for example. Return back with that information and we can tell you how far the computer can be upgraded.
    If you decide to procede and you have enough RAM upgrading to Mavericks is quite simple. Click on the download button and let it do its job.

    itunes launches itself and starts playing even when my laptop is closed, but I can still hear it. I can't figure out how to keep it from doing that.

    See if a device is attached and "open iTunes when iPod is connected" is selected. https://discussions.apple.com/message/16483979#16483979
    Check for other iTunes preference settings that might cause this.

  • How to keep songs from the same album together in the Walkman app?

    How do I keep songs from the same album together in one album instead of it being spilt up into three different albums? Is there any way to keep this from happening? I have all of the correct album information, but it still happens. I thought I would use Media Go and see if it helps but it never works properly.
    Any suggestions would be much appreicated.

    Make sure your Album information in mp3 tags is all the same in all tracks belonging to the same album.
    Clear the cache memory of Storage Media service
    https://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/WALKMAN/Multiple-Song-and-playlist-appear/m-p/732329?sl=y&sso_no_log=...
    If, despite having the same album information in mp3 tags and clearing cache memory, you still get multiple entries or songs belonging to the same album are split into 2-3 albums, then I suggest an easy way.
    Use Winamp and create an *.m3u playlist in the same directory you have the mp3 files stored in your phone. This playlist will then appear in Playlists - My Playlists and you will be able to enjoy your music in correct order of tracks and all the tracks will be there.
    That is my method (using m3u Winamp playlists) simply because Walkman app does not respect the Track Number tag in mp3 files belonging to the same album and rather sorts the tracks within the same album based on Date Created.

  • How to keep icons from piling up on the dashboard.  I understand they soak up battery power.

    How do I keep icons from appearing on the iPad dashboard when moving around the Internet?  I understand they use up battery power.

    When you close them from the task bar, you are not deleting the app, just closing it down. Most of them are not using any power at all, just are there because you recently used them, but some do use power, or keep some memory.  It is a good idea to double click and shut them down at least daily, if not more often.

    Running Acrobat X Pro.
    Occasionally, a website with a PDF triggers Reader to be installed on my system.
    NEVER want reader (that's why i bought Pro).
    How do i keep Reader from EVER being installed?

    I don't get a pop-up. Something triggers the Reader installer to be loaded on my system. This occurs without my knowledge. Then, the next time i go to open a PDF, instead of it opening immediately with Acrobat Pro, I get the first screen of the installation stuff for Reader (Accept/Decline Terms of use, etc.). At this point, i get out of the install, go into control panel and uninstall Reader (which is listed as a loaded program, even though i haven't finished the install). After i uninstall reader and open a PDF, it opens correctly with Acrobat Pro. This happens once or twice a month at least. Is it possible that the Adobe Acrobat Update Service task loads Reader on my system at some interval? How do i block Reader form EVER being installed or loaded?

  • How to keep field from populating with default numbers?

    It's hard to describe my question so I've included a screenshot of what I'm working on. In the third column, there is a calculation in each field's properties to take the number from field to the extreme left of it (in middle column) and subtract the number filled in to the field at the very top (in middle column). Trying to figure out how to make the numbers in right column that have not yet been calculated from showing a default (the -$10,000). I'd rather it not show anything until the fields it's supposed to compute are filled in. Or even showing zeros would be better. Is there a workaround for this?
    Thanks so much for your time and help!

    You need to use a custom calculation script that checks first that both fields are filled in before applying the calculation. It can look something like this (of course, adjust the names of the fields in the first two rows to match the ones in your file):
    var v1 = this.getField("Field1").valueAsString;
    var v2 = this.getField("Field2").valueAsString;
    if (v1=="" || v2=="") event.value = "";
    else event.value = Number(v1) - Number(v2);

  • How do I stop Numbers from rounding results of a quotient?

    I'm trying to set up a spreadsheet that will automatically calculate what each of my housemates owes me for utilites. Currently, I have it set so that I can enter in one to three different bills and it will add them up, and it is set to divide the total by 7 to give what each person owes. Currently, I am trying to divide $37.59 by 7, but it is rounding each answer to $5.00, which is incorrect. I have all of the cells set to currency, and each at 2 decimal places. My exact quotient cell is as follows:
    =QUOTIENT(C14,7)
    Any help on how I can get it to display the exact monetary value after the division would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

    QUOTIENT works with integers (or the integer part of a decimal numbers, so what you're seeing it the result of this arithmetic exercise (without the remainder):
    The remainder is provided by the MOD (short for modul0) function.
    Jerry is correct in describing the result you want as the "precise" answer rather than the "exact" answer. While both are the same for your example, the example is a special case.
    Had you spent only a penny more (or a penny less) there would be no "exact" answer to the question "amount" divided by seven. There would be a correct answer, precise to the nearest hundredth of a dollar.

  • How to stop Pages from "rounding up" in charts?

    I'm a total novice when it comes to spreadsheeting so please help me someone!
    I am using Pages invoice template. It comes with a lovely table/spreadsheet to determine how much the invoice is for.
    I am trying to get Pages to accept a number like 3.5 in the chart. Although it seems to multiply correctly (it gives me the correct number using 3.5 to multiply the rate), it always rounds up and changes my 3.5 to 4 afterwards.
    What can i do to stop this? I am multiply my day rate, and sometimes i work a half day.
    Thanks!

    May I write that the response is available page 141 of the Numbers User Guide which is available from Help > Numbers User Guide ?
