How to keep tabs or history

If my browser crashes or my computer reboots when the browser is re-initialized there is a "Restore Previous Session" command that brings back all my tabs/work.
I have been unable to find a way to close FireFox "normally" and preserve these connections. I am assuming that there must be some way that FireFox has these stored so,
Is it possible to close out of FireFox normally and still be able to reopen with my tabs up and available?
FireFox 24.0 running on System 7 Home Prem

You can use the startup setting:
*Tools > Options > General > Startup: "When Firefox Starts": "Show my windows and tabs from last time"
You can use "Firefox > Exit" (Windows: Firefox/File > Exit; Mac: Firefox > Quit Firefox; Linux: Firefox/File > Quit) to close Firefox if you are currently doing that by clicking the close X on the Firefox title bar.
In case you are using "Clear history when Firefox closes":
*do not clear the Browsing History
*Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history": [X] "Clear history when Firefox closes" > Settings
*https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Clear+Recent+History
Note that your System Details List shows that you have a user.js file in the profile folder to initialize some prefs on each start of Firefox.
The user.js file is only present if you or other software has created it, so normally it wouldn't be there.
you can check its content with a plain text editor if you didn't create this file yourself.
The user.js file is read each time you start Firefox and initializes preferences to the value specified in this file, so preferences set via user.js can only be changed temporarily for the current session.

  • Safari browser-how to keep tabs all in one window

How do I keep the tabs all in one window like you do with the Opera browser. It's the one thing keeping me from using Safari. I asked this question about one year ago and I tried something but it didn't work and then it caused problems with my Desktop and with other functions of my computer. Since then, I have updated the operating system (10.6.8) and the Safari browser 5.0.5.
Is there an easy way of doing that? I often have 30 or more tabs open at the one time and I do not like to scroll or use the arrows or whatever to see the last ones. I prefer to have them in the one window.
I am asking because I found Safari the fastest browser to use and would like to keep using it. The tabs thing though is the deal-breaker for me.

I don't need a keyboard shortcut; I want to see all the tabs in the one window. I don't want to have to click on the arrow to see the other tabs.
For example if I open thirty tabs, I want to see all 30 tabs at the top in the one window. So I can click on any tab to open it right in the window without having to click on the arrow to get a list of tabs.
And how did you create those 30 tabs in the first place?  Once upon a time you opened them one by one (cmd-t or open a link into a new tab).  And they must have been layed out one next to the other.  But there's a limit and that's you browser's window width.  So the browser must make some convention to handling a large number of tabs.  Safari shrinks the titles up to some minimum and then creates a list for the excess.  I use firefox and have an addon (TabMixPlus) which allows me to have all my tabs in multiple rows, for example,
Maybe safari has an addon to do this, maybe not.  A quick google search did not turn up any safari addon for this.  So if there isn't any, you'll just have to decide if you can justify safari's "faster" speed with the inconvenience of selecting some of the tabs from a list.

  • How can I get the list of tabs from history (URLs) which Mozilla opened using "restore session"

    Hi
    I'm using Mozilla 7.0.1
Today I got Mozilla crashed, and during the reopening, it crashed the second time. After reopening it second time, it showed me only "about:home" tab.
At last, I lost my previous session - about 50 tabs.
History -> "Restore Previous session" command is disabled, also "recently closed tabs" and "recently closed windows" are disabled too.
History is on, so I can see all history of my Mozilla usage.
Every day I'm closing my Mozilla with that 50 tabs, and then the next day I'm reopening it. It loads all the tabs.
Today, before the crash, I opened my Mozilla as usually and it loaded that 50 tabs, so logically he have to write about it in history, or logs, or somewhere else. How can I filter my history to find only that tabs?
How can I find all 50 tabs, which Mozilla loaded today morning? Is it possible?
    Thanks in advance
    Zorayr

  • How do I set a time period longer than 7 days for keeping my browsing history on my Macbook Pro? The instructions for doing so on a Windows PC do not work with a Mac.

I am using Firefox 8.0.1. There seems to be no option anywhere in Preferences on my Macbook Pro for keeping the browsing history for a specific period of time. Earlier my history was kept for quite a while. Now it only shows for 7 days at the most, and if I quit firefox, it starts over again fro scratch the next time I open Firefox. Any suggestions? There are plenty of answers out there if you are using Windows, but I haven't found anything for using a mac.

There is no time limit in Firefox 4+ versions for the history.<br />
Firefox determines automatically how many pages can be kept without affecting the performance.<br />
You can see the current value via the reads-only pref places.history.expiration.transient_max_pages on the about:config page.
    See:
    * http://blog.bonardo.net/2010/01/20/places-got-async-expiration
If you lose the history then make sure that you do not use Clear Recent History to clear the browsing history.<br />
Also make sure that you do not have cleanup software that might clean up files in the Firefox Profile Folder.

  • How to keep the WBS & Order in account assignment tab of SD contract item?

    Hi Experts,
If I remove the plant from the shipping tab in the contract item (the contract type is WV), I will be able to enter the WBS or Order in accounting assignment tab. However, if I enter the plant (in order to determine the tax in pricing), the WBS and Order are disappered and there is one new settlement rule button showed up.
Do you know any configuration could keep the WBS and order in the accounting assigment tab even the plant is there.
    Thanks in advance!
    Norman

    Hi Chandra,
Thanks for your answer. However, I even added the plant in the WBS, the tax (we use tax jurisdiction) still could not be determined.
The problem is that SAP changes the account assignment tab screen (it suppresses the WBS and Order fields, but addes settlement rule) with the plant in the shipping tab. Do you know how to keep the same account assignment tab screen with the plant in the shipping tab?
    Thanks,
    Norman

  • How can I keep tabs on the file size when importing from the Event Library into a Project? I want to ensure the movie will fit onto a 4.7Gb disc?

How can I keep tabs on the file size when importing from the Event Library into a Project? I want to ensure the movie will fit onto a 4.7Gb disc?

iDVD does not care about file sizes, as it compresses the file to the standard DVD format of mpeg2.
It only cares about length i.e. max 2 hours including titles etc.
    iDVD encoding settings:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iDVD/7.0/en/11417.html
    Short version:
Best Performance is for videos of up to 60 minutes
Best Quality is for videos of up to 120 minutes
Professional Quality is also for up to 120 minutes but even higher quality (and takes much longer)
Professional Quality: The Professional Quality option uses advanced technology to encode your video, resulting in the best quality of video possible on your burned DVD. You can select this option regardless of your project’s duration (up to 2 hours of video for a single-layer disc and 4 hours for a double-layer disc). Because Professional Quality encoding is time-consuming (requiring about twice as much time to encode a project as the High Quality option, for example) choose it only if you are not concerned abo
In both cases the maximum length includes titles, transitions and effects etc. Allow about 15 minutes for these.
You can use the amount of video in your project as a rough determination of which method to choose. If your project has an hour or less of video (for a single-layer disc), choose Best Performance. If it has between 1 and 2 hours of video (for a single-layer disc), choose High Quality. If you want the best possible encoding quality for projects that are up to 2 hours (for a single-layer disc), choose Professional Quality. This option takes about twice as long as the High Quality option, so select it only if time is not an issue for you.
Use the Capacity meter in the Project Info window (choose Project > Project Info) to determine how many minutes of video your project contains.
NOTE: With the Best Performance setting, you can turn background encoding off by choosing Advanced > “Encode in Background.” The checkmark is removed to show it’s no longer selected. Turning off background encoding can help performance if your system seems sluggish.
And whilst checking these settings in iDVD Preferences, make sure that the settings for NTSC/PAL and DV/DV Widescreen are also what you want.

  • I keep losing my history and tabs when I close. I don't have any boxes checked in the privacy section to do so. My tabs also don't show the icons.

I keep losing my tabs and history and I have it set in FF to save my history. It doesn't happen all the time just randomly but still annoying. I read all the help and everything that they said to check was fine. I also don't get the icons on every tab like I used to. some have it some don't. I have a tab up for Yahoo and it used to show the Y and now just an empty box. but Facebook shows the F.
I can live without the tab icons but it is really annoying when I lose all my history and tabs.

    Firefox > Tools > Options > Privacy > History
Firefox will "Use custom setting for History"
    Keep until "They Expire"

  • How to change tab history to a list instead of thumbnails

When i open a new tab in Firefox the former visited history appears as thumbnails. How to change the past history to a LIST instead

Please see this support article - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/new-tab-page-show-hide-and-customize-top-sites
The '''new Tab page''' isn't intended to be a text listing of recent browsing history, but rather a visualization of "top sites" that you visit based upon the number of visits over time. There is nothing built into Firefox to switch over to a text listing, and I am unaware of an add-on available to display a text list of recent browsing history, either.

  • HT5364 How to clear tabs history

How do you clear the tabs browsing history in Safari? Thanks.

You should be able to hide items by going into the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page :
Then select Apps on that Purchased screen :
And then select the 'iPhone' or 'iPad' button just below that, and the 'All' button to the right of the Music Films tabs.  If I then hover my mouse pointer over one of the apps I get an 'x' on it :
Is that where you are going to try and hide them ? Only apps that are still in the store will be shown

  • Where does Firefox 3.6.10 store tab and history?

I am running Firefox 3.6.10 under Windows XP, the latter fully updated. However, I keep my Firefox profile on a D: drive, so that it is unaffected by an operating system reinstall or other modification affecting the C: drive.
I have recently suffered several Firefox crashes, most seemingly caused by Firefox or add-on updates (I have now disabled automatic updates for everything). But the most recent crash was caused by my laptop's battery expiring. In all these cases restarting Firefox produced a "welcome" startup screen (my personal settings in Options specify a blank screen), and the loss of both saved tabs and history.
After trying various ideas to recover the lost data, to no avail, I resorted to restoring the whole of my C: drive (using 3rd party software, not Windows's lousy backup facility). On then starting Firefox, lo and behold! the tabs and history were restored to the situation at the latest backup date.
My understanding is that tabs and history data used to be stored in the Profiles\sessionstore.js and Profiles\places.sqlite locations respectively. Interestingly, while it is asserted that Profiles\places.sqlite contains both history and bookmarks data, although I lose the history, I do not lose the bookmarks!
When I end a Firefox session, saving the modified tabs configuration, and any modifiied bookmarks, I find that the sizes and dates of the Profiles\sessionstore.js and Profiles\places.sqlite are unchanged. Yet when I restart Firefox the updated tabs and history are recovered!
From all of the above, I conclude that, at least for me, Firefox has stopped saving tabs and history data in the Profile folder, and instead has started saving it somewhere else on the C: drive. This is, of course, most unsatisfactory, as my whole purpose in putting the Profile folder on the D: drive was to prevent it from being corrupted by the vagaries of Windows. So, can anybody enlighten me as to what may be happening in my case, and how I might be able to recover the lost information without the drastic remedy of restoration of the whole C: drive from a backup facility (which is too disk space-consuming to deploy more than monthly)?
(By the way, I am aware of the facility to save the tabs under Bookmarks, but that is not a satisfactory solution; and anyway, the history issue remains unresolved.)
Hoping some wise person can help,
    Brian Binder

You can use this to find the location of the Firefox Profile Folder
*Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox
The size of place.sqlite doesn't change if items are added or removed unless there is no empty space to add new items.<br />
The size of sessionstore.js should change, but you may not notice it if you only see a size in KB and not in bytes.
If places.sqlite is missing then Firefox will try to restore the bookmarks from a .JSON backup in the bookmarkbackups folder.

  • How to keep the whole page open during browsing

I am trying to work out how to keep the whole page open in Safari i.e. the top most line with the Apple logo, file, edit, view etc. whilst browsing.  What is the setting to achieve this ?  Since installing Yosemite my MBP 2011 with SSD is behaving oddly at times. Where is the "back" when in Support Communities or is going into the history tab the only way ?
    thanks

When in the ASC pages, my method involves opening separate windows.
So I can go back to the reference page from where I first visited a thread.
Also, pages open faster at times into a new window instead of a tab. As
my setup has a bit more display than necessary, a few extra windows are
easier than a bunch of tabs in one frame that have no point of reference.
Plus, if I wish to copy/paste or drag into another window, or access extra
content for the sake of reference, I have that; & may use another browser.
For some content, different browsers may be a preference. I'm used to more
than two, and one of three becomes more dedicated to things like web mail.
There may be some options in launchpad items, such as they are.
Mission Control can access other hidden windows. There's a short
cut for Full Screen that when used again, reverts to previous size.
Not sure if this gets near your question, but thought I'd put it out here anyway.

  • "Don't load tabs until selected" ... Where is the setting so that it affects the tabs when I click "Open all in tabs" from History?

I am trying to reload all the tabs from history, it's a couple thousand. I am not concerned about system RAM I have 16GB. I know it will be slow, I'm not looking for any warnings or questions about why I have to reload that many tabs or how to work with the restore.bak sessionstore files.
The question I need an answer to is, "What setting do I need to change so that when I reload multiple tabs, it doesn't say "connecting" on all of them even though I have already selected "Don't load tabs until selected"

I think we both understand what you want. And we're both saying we are not aware of any built-in way to do this.

  • How do u delete the history for search page on search iPhone?

When you slide all the way to the left on your iPhone, search iPhone window is there. On this page, there's a search bar and
you type in whatever you need to search and hit search web or search Wikipedia but also below that is options for if what you type
in the search bar something you've recently sent in a txt message, it will give you the option to click a previous message to view with
the word relating to what you are searching. Even after deleting txt messages, the deleted ones will still appear! For example if you wanted
to search for "dogs" you have the option to search web, search Wikipedia, or if you have ever said the word dog in a txt message to someone
that message will appear below as an option to click on as well. If you've deleted the message that appears from your phone, and you click it
in this window, you will be directed to your txt message page. How do I clear this history??

hello, you can delete your current private data and history in the ''settings menu > privacy''. if you open sensitive websites you can do so in a private tab - then they won't appear in your history or the top sites list.
