How to keep windows unhidden on same Space?

I use four Spaces on my Macbook. Sometimes when I'm closing a program, it's confirmation or some other modal window will create in a different Space and hide behind all windows there. For example, I close Adobe Premiere in Space 1 but it prompts to save the project. All I see is that Premiere doesn't want to close. I click Premiere and get the bump system sound. Nothing. I have to force quit.
Now I've learned that those little confirmation windows are appearing in other Spaces. For the above example, the confirm save window is in Space 4 under all the windows there. This doesn't just happen with Premiere. Lots of other programs will do this. It doesn't happen all the time but often enough.
Is there a way to "Keep windows grouped" or something that will prevent them from slipping off into another desktop instance?

this shouldn't happen but the responsibility for that lies with particular applications in question. there is no general system setting you can adjust. complain to program developers. some apps have poor spaces integration.
the only option you can choose on the system level is to assign an app to all spaces. but I don't know if you want to do that.

How do I keep songs from the same album together in one album instead of it being spilt up into three different albums? Is there any way to keep this from happening? If, despite having the same album information in mp3 tags and clearing cache memory, you still get multiple entries or songs belonging to the same album are split into 2-3 albums, then I suggest an easy way.
Use Winamp and create an *.m3u playlist in the same directory you have the mp3 files stored in your phone. This playlist will then appear in Playlists - My Playlists and you will be able to enjoy your music in correct order of tracks and all the tracks will be there.
That is my method (using m3u Winamp playlists) simply because Walkman app does not respect the Track Number tag in mp3 files belonging to the same album and rather sorts the tracks within the same album based on Date Created.

How can I keep apps in the same spaces?

I must be missing something, but -- in OS 10.6, I could use spaces to make sure my frequently used apps opened in the same spot, and not on top of each other. How can I accomplish the same thing in Lion?

I use afloat to keep most of the window always on top but it doesn't work for some apps like excel, textwrangler etc...

AFAIK, you can't. When you change focus the app assumes you want to use it.

One way is to browse your iTunes Music Library in the Finder and open the video file with QuickTime instead of playing it in iTunes. Then you have always-on-top and also fixes the "full screen on 2nd monitor" problem. Maybe not ideal, but a workaround.

Is it possible to keep Mail at dock like Safari at startup? So the window doesn't jump, but I still can see if there are new mails in the dock?

If you keep the Mail app icon in the Dock it will display a red dot indicating the number of unread emails.
If Mail icon is not already in the Dock, simply drag the Mail app icon from the Applicaitons folder to the Dock, then Control-click on the Mail icon in the Dock, choose Options, and choose "Keep in Dock."

How to keep apps arranged the same

I arranged the apps into folders and organized them on my phone. When I connected to itunes this morning it synced my phone and re-arranged all my apps wrong. Earlier I took the time to put them how I liked them again lol, when I go to sync with itunes tonight is there a way to do it so the apps arrangement on my phone will be the same on the computer? Or am I going to have to do the arranging on the computer instead? Thanks!

I am intrigued with this behavior. I always arrange everything on the iPhone and iTunes adjusts accordingly. Suggest you shutdown iTunes and reboot the computer. Also, perform a hard reset on the iPhone. Afterward see if the Apps stay arranged properly when syncing with iTunes.

Fluid grid layout-how to keep an image on same line as menu

I am starting a new page and at the header I am trying to have a logo stay on the same line horizontily as the spry menu.
the spry menu seems to always go under the logo instead.
I am assuming the log and the menu should be in the same fluid grid layout div? or do I insert another div, but just not have another row checked.
I am working in CS6 and I am obvousley not a web designer. any imput would be appreciated... thanks...

How to keep display size the same on second or more crop

If you crop for a second time, or more, the display returns to the entire original image with the part cropped greyed out. I would like to be able to crop a second or more time using the display size of the first crop only. Is this possible? This would be particularly helpful with heavy crops.

I am uploading photos from an iPhoto album to Google+. I want to keep the photos in the same order that they are appear in the album, but the order is rearranged. ANy idea on how to keep photos in the same order?

If the photos are sorted by file name by Google+ you'll need to rename them in iPhoto via the Photos ➙ Batch Rename ➙ Title to Text menu with the checkbox checked to add a sequential number to the end of the file name:

How can I make different windows of the same application I have open remain on their respective desktops/spaces after reboot?

Hi all,
I use the same applications for work, entertainment and other personal activities, so it's impossible to simply assign different apps to different desktops/spaces. Thus, I have open windows of the same programs (Pages, TextEdit, Preview) arranged on several desktops. If I reboot my laptop, the windows are just crammed on Desktop 1. Can something be done about it?

many thanks for your efforts and your time (preparing and posting the screenshot, answering to this question,...).
Unfortunately, moving the focus to the next window only works with windows on the same desktop.
btw, using a german keyboard layout and german language settings the shortcut is "cmd+<".
I can switch with this shortcut between different windows of my Safari which reside on the same desktop, but I cannot swith between different safari windows distributed over several desktops.

How to stay on the same space when closing a window?

I love multiple workspaces but ever since I came to OSX a feature is driving me nuts.
Every time I close a window, the previous window comes in focus, and if that window was on a different workspace, the OS switches to that desktop. This can be disabled from System Prefferences > Mission Control > When switching to an application, switch to a Space with open windows for the application.
BUT. I DO want that, when I cmd tab to a window, I DO WANT to go to a different space when I switch to an application. But when I close a window, I don't want my desktop to be flying around like crazy, it's confusing. I would prefer instead of switching to the last application in the stack to switch to the front-most application on the current space (that's natural since it's in there, in front of you). I can do all the switching I want after that. It's not ok if the desktop is flying around on its own, but it's ok if it flies around when I ask it, that's it .
If there's no window on a space after I close something I would still prefer to stay on the same space and switch manually afterwards.
Is there any way to do this?

Here's an approach:
Delete your existing Create button and then redefine it as a copy of Create & Exit.
Then create two Page Branches, one that branches back to your Menu when the Create & Exit is pressed and another Page Branch that remains on your current page when the Create button is pressed.

How to keep all text and formats the same on multiple computers?

I'm creating a file in InDesign CS6 on my Windows computer. I keep everything on my flash drive. When I go to school, I bring my flash drive with me and open it up on the Mac computer, but then there are are compatibility issues. There seems to be missing fonts and formats but the school uses the same version of InDesign I do. Now I was told a lot of things of how to keep the fonts and formats the same (embed the links, package the files, outline the text, save as IDML). However, it is not clear to me what each of those options do, so I don't know when or why to use them. So I just want to make sure that when I bring in my file in next Monday, I won't have any missing fonts or formats. What would you suggest is the proper things to do to keep everything the same on multiple computers? And could you please explain why?

If you want cross-paltform comaptibility limit the fonts to OpenType or Windows TrueType formats, both of which work on both Mac and PC. To avoid missing font warnings the fonts must either be installed on each computer, or they must be in a folder named Document Fonts in the same location as the .indd file they are to work with. Packaging the file will build taht folder for you.
the rest of the stuff in your list won't help you. .idml would allow you to open on an older version, but does nothing for your situation. Embedding the links will keep you from having missing links, but so will packaging, and embedded links will make the file much larger and harder to work with.
For goodness sake, don't even think about outlining the text. It stops being text when you do that and you can no longer edit it.
And finally. do yourself a big favor and don't attempt to actually work on your file directly from the flash drive. Copy the whole package folder to the hard drive, work on it, then copy back. You don't want to know how many files are fatally damaged by write errors on flash drives.
