How to key a green screen separately from motion background

Using FCP7. I have an animated background running throughout the sequence (it's on Video Track 1).
When I place a greeenscreen interview on top of that (on Video Track 3) and a solid color background for the key behind that (on Video Track 2), the solid color background covers up the animation.
How do I key the interview and maintain the animated background?
Please tell me I don't have to build it as separate sequences.

It is not clear from your post what you are trying to do.
Screen shots would help.
If you want the area that is green on track 3 to reveal the animation, why are you putting a solid background on V2?
If the animation has transparency, and is also supposed to be over the the solid color background, then the order for the tracks should be:
V3 - Video with green screen with keyed applied
V2- Animation
V1- Color Background

Put your sky clip on a layer below the clip you want to key. One or the other will be a connected clip. Apply the Keying filter to foreground clip (the one with the green screen). The green will be seen as transparent and the sky will show through as the BG. Adjust as necessary in the Inspector.

When keying a green screen shot, the image being keyed goes a little out of focus when the effect is applied. How do you keep it sharp?

Ipod touch screen separating from metal frame

Hi, my ipod touch 1st generation screen is separating from the frame. The screen in the lower left corner is higher than the metal frame and can be pressed back into place but returns to an elevated position. What should I do?

I will stop by the apple store and see what they have to say. My ipod is 3 years old and works perfectly, battery is still good, but with the screen separating from the frame, I am afraid I might get a new problem if it gets worse
Also, I should have taken it in when I first noticed some light coming in through the left side where the screen is now separating. It's been a great product, but it appears that the screen and frame may have been misaligned during assembly.

Really? I said that? There is one particular problem with HD material in FCE in that that AIC color space is 4:2:0. There is no color smoothing filter for this. I believe Graeme Nattress has one for this. There is a color smoothing filter for DV NTSC standard definition, which is 4:1:1. DV PAL has the same problem BTW, as it's also 4:2:0.
Aside from that the chromakeyer works decently with well shot material. For a really high quality key you should look to third party software.
There is no difference between 3.5 and 4 in this regard.

Exporting keyed out green screen footage

I've keyed out the green screen from my footage of someone standing. I now wish to export it and send to someone else to do all the graphics behind the person.
I've tried exporting as a quicktime but when they recieve the footage they can't put any background SFX in.
Help anyone?

to export your keying you will have to make sure that your export includes the corrcet alpha channel.
look in your wireframe/ image drop down menu above the clip viewer and select alpha
you will see that by keying out you are removing the alpha (white elements) from the area you dont want to keep ( ie. the blue screen) you will need to provide your fx guys with this info.
try exporting your seq as a quicktime whih supports alpha info (like animation) and choose millions + in the colors to include the alpha.
or you can provide the alpha info seperately on a qt of the same clip duration - copy the clip ad use the extract filer to copy the alpha ino to the RGB channels and provided your FX guys with both the normal clip and the B+W clip - if they know what hey are doing they can put these clips back together in their FX package to just keep the non-bluescreen areas of the clip.

Strange Results keying out Green Screen Using Keylight

Hi,
I'm keying out a green screen using keylight. When I look at the view "Status" in keylight I notice a strange result that I can't seem to resolve. Inside the solid area of the matte (the actor) his pants and shoes area are filled with tiny light green dots. They seem to be causing distortion on my final render.
No matter what adjustments I make to the matte I can't seem to get rid of these. I've attached a few small GIFs to show the issue.
Is there anyway to remove these dots so they are "solid" within the matte or a way to color correct them inside the solid area of the matte in the final result?
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

That's what the Despot options in the Screen Matte section are for. Alternative options include Minimax, Simple Chocker or third-party plug-ins like Re:Fill from RevisionFX. Also make good use of the various rollback options to control your Alpha levels.

How do you use green screen and picture in picture in iMoive at the same scene?

I understand how to do green screen and picture and picture... but how do you do it in the same sequence.. so when you are speaking with a background picture and you want to add a picture or a story within that picture... there has to be a way to do that..

That is a great idea! So I just do everything to the clip involving the green screen. Export it to, say my desktop. Then import it back into iMovie. Then I will be able to add a picture in picture? Fantastic! Thanks so much!

Here are three quick tutorial sources to give you a start on green screening. After you do the green screen then you just have to play with the motion effects on the clip to get it to the size and position you want.
