Is there any way to send text messages to people and contacts that do not have iphones such as friends with blackberrys or a samsung galaxy smartphone from this ipad. Everytime I try to send a message to a person that does not have an Apple product ( Iphone or Ipad ) it comes up saying contact is not registered for iMessage and wont send it. I can only send them a message from my iPhone 4 instead. Do I have to install a new App from the App store to send these non iMessage cell users a message?

If you synced it many times, you have to have a backup. It's just a question of how old that backup is now. When did you last sync?
First of all launch iTunes on your computer and go to Edit>Preferences>Devices. Do you see any backups for you iPad in that window? If so, how new is the newest backup? That will be the backup that you will want to use. But remember that if you use that backup and it is one month old, you can only restore from that date back in time. Anything that you did on the iPad in the past month will not be in that backup.
Turn on the new iPad Minin and start activating OTA via WiFi. You will get to a certain point in the process where you will be given the choice to Set up as new, Restore from iCloud - or Restore from iTunes. You will want to select Restore from iTunes.
That is the short and sweet version. There are step by step instructions in this article. This applies to the mini as well as the iPad 4 or the iPad 3 for that matter.

This does help me because I am pondering on wether to buy an airport extreme to solve my ipad 2 connection woes. I have an extremely old router dLink 524....but I have NEVER had any problems with it at all ever. My xbox connected great to it and netflix ran flawless through my xbox.....now I have an ipad2 and an apple tv and they are BOTH having horrible connection problems. I have read most of the forums on how to fix it by changing the settings on my router but since mine is so old I couldn't do some of the suggested solutions. So here I am debating on whether to spend all this $ on an airport extreme? I am just hoping that if I go and purchase this, my connectivity issues problems will go away like yours did. Just wondering if you have ATV as well and if the AE solved its problems? I have read about AE solving ipad2 wifi problems, I'm just hoping it will solve my ATV as well.

Do you mean this via icloud. Today i had my ipad3 exchanged under warranty (dust under the screen)(Thankyou apple for easy replacement). I had to set up ipad as new. Then check what ios version i had on this new ipad (it was 5) the icloud version from my previous ipad was 6 which was preventing my new ipad accepting the upload from the icloud. First i updated the software on new ipad to ios6 , after that had completed , i had to reset and erase settings again. Then new ipad could see my old icloud account and downloaded it. All is back on. Happy days.

Cache type is configured by the server side (cluster side) cache configuration file within a <caching-scheme-mapping> <cache-mapping> element.
The <scheme-name> element specifies either a <distributed-scheme> (for Partitioned) or <replicated-scheme> <caching-scheme> named element.
A client side configuration file references the <cache-name>.

There are parts of your recent post that I do not understand, you can try a few things though.
press and hold the home and sleep/wake buttons until the apple logo appears on the screen, and then let go.
settings/general/reset/reset all settings
if the above do not solve your issue then a complet restore may be necessary.

Tom, thanks for your quick reply. I'm a commerical photographer using Canon 5D mk2's mostly and have in the past just downloaded images to a mac book for backup. I really liked the compact size of the Ipad and just got the retina model with the camera connection kit and seem to be hearing that CF readers can't be used with it b/c they draw too much power. Seems like I remember reading I could use a cord that might have come with my cameras to download directly to the Ipad. I haven't tried it yet as I can't find the connection but then you just said it can't be done?
   I'm COMPLETLY lost as to your "first pluging in a flash drive to my computer, advice. Do you mean Ipad when you say computer? "then put your movie/photo files into the folder." HOW????????
     Then plug it into the Ipad??????     TOTALLY lost.

This link should provide the help you need. You are going to have to restore your iPad as a New Device since you never backed it up. You'll then have to download your apps again (you won't be charged as long as you use the same Apple ID you downloaded them from to begin with. You'll have to rebuild your contacts, everything. From now on, make sure you are regularly backing up your device.

To the best of my knowledge, you can not do what you want with either the iPad 2 or the new iPad 3. If it could be done, you would need an App to manage it.
There is an HDMI AV adapter for the iPad, but it is output only, not input.
You might look into using the AppleTV. I'm not aware of it having the capability you need, but you might be able to stream the camera's video and receive it on the iPad. Again, you might need an App to do that.
