How to launch a new JVM from a java class?
I want to update a runing java applicaton. Before updating it, I have to shut down this application and open a new JVM (launch another java class with main method inside another JVM). Then update this application. After updating, restart this application. How to do it?? Thanks. Gary
Hi!
I'm using an applet to upload a library in the ext directory and then opening another applet that uses that library...
If I manually upload the library the second applet works
but if I try to load it at runtime with the first applet the file is saved correctly but the second applet doesn,t work :((
the second applet works only if I close the browser and open it again...:((
I need to reaload the JVM at runtime or maybe opening a new one...
can anyone help me?
please reply me if you found anything similar,
ciao!

How to Launch an Integration Builder under two different java versions
How to Launch an Integration Builder under two different java versions 1
1. Situation 2
2. How To Do 2
2.1 jre preparation 2
2.2 Put them into the system 2
2.3 Execute a Java Web Start under jre 1.4.x version 3
2.4 Change Java Runtime Versions 3
2.5 Launch an Integration Builder 6
1. Situation
OS: windows 2000 pro English
Java version: jdk 1.5.x was already installed. (Its not permitted to change.)
I dont have any authorization to install any software on the PC.
But I need to use an Integration Builder.
I already knew URLs of an Integration Builder (http://<hostname>:50000/rep/start/repository.jnlp).
2. How To Do
At this moment, an Integration Builder (XI 3.0) can be launch under jre 1.4.x environment (on windows).
2.1 jre preparation
I download j2re-1_4_2_10-windows-i586-p.exe from http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html
I installed it on my home PC and copied all files from C:\Program Files\Java\ j2re1.4.2_10\ into my USB.
2.2 Put them into the system
I pasted j2re1.4.2_10 folder from my USB into the windows 2000 pro system.
Finally, I could list up all of javaws.exe under this system.
c:\j2re1.4.2_10\javaws\javaws.exe
c:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_05\bin\javaws.exe
c:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_05\jre\bin\javaws.exe
c:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_05\bin\javaws.exe
2.3 Execute a Java Web Start under jre 1.4.x version
I executed c:\j2re1.4.2_10\javaws\javaws.exe .
2.4 Change Java Runtime Versions
Go to File-> Preferences -> Java
As you can see, it indicates 1.5 version.
Click [FIND] button.
Click [NEXT] button.
Click the j2re1.4.2_10 folder.
Click [NEXT] button.
A JRE Finder is able to find javaw.exe automatically. Or you can indicate C:\j2re1.4.2_10\bin\javaw.exe directly.
Click [NEXT] button.
Finally, there are two Java Runtime Versions. Now you need to uncheck the Enabled column of 1.5 version and check 1.4 version.
Click [OK] button.
Well, in the General tab, I selected None for Proxies.
2.5 Launch an Integration Builder
In the Location field, I typed the URL of an Integration Builder jnlp.
http://<hostname>:50000/rep/start/repository.jnlp
SAP Integration Builder comes up inside Applications area.
Select it and click [Start] button.
If you click Environment-> Integration Builder (Configuration), you can launch Integration Builder: Configuration.

=========================================================I am not getting anywhere with deploying my application or
applet.
I have set up my bc4j project. It contains all my VO info,
links, application module. (proj a)
I then have another project with DbInfo in it(has all my rowset
info), Multiple Frames, and my Applet.java file.
Actually I have an Applet.java file and a Application.java file
because I was seeing if both/either worked. Anyway they seem the
same, except for that extra window that comes up when you run the
applet.
I follow the steps in the oracle directions (from earlier post).
And all seems ok. But at ---->
[*] Select the subdirectory under myhtml where your applet's HTML
file
is located, and enter the directory path of the 'staging'
directory you
created in step 3 above, if different from the default.</li>
[*]Select the HTML files that JDeveloper created to run your
applet.</li>
[*]Select all of the Java source files in your project that make
up the
applet.</li>
I have no HTML file associated with my applet, at least that I
know of.
So do I need to create one, or should it of been done
automatically.
Also, I trying to figure out what will be the best way to deploy
my project. Applet or stand alone application is what my first
choices have been so far. I have read that there is some issues
with applets being served from a different server than the
database. So a stand alone application was my front runner, but
I haven't gotten either way to work yet. -
Use Server JVM to run Sun Java System AppServer 8
To all,
Is it possible to use the server JVM to run Sun Java System AppServer 8 ?? I know that currently this version is using the client JVM instead, however, the performance is really not too good.....
So I want to try to run the AppServer using the server JVM to compare the performance issue.
Thanks!

try{
Properties props = System.getProperties();
props.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY,"com.sun.enterprise.naming.SerialInitContextFactory");
props.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL,"iiop://localhost:3700");

I too have the same issue. If anyone has an answer, please let me know.
Is this GlassFish problem? or Prgram issue?

How to launch Jar file in Mac Os using java code??
can anyone tell me how can i launch another jar file in my apllication using java code.
define "launch".
- You want to run a new java program in a separate process? (see Runtime.exec())
- You want to run a method in a specific class in the jar? (add jar to application classpath and then simply instantiate the class and call the method) -
How to configure oracle 6i report server run time component with application server
we got oracle 6i report server for developing the web based reports for our undergoing product. we r succesed in developing the web based reports using oracle 6i report server.But we r facing problems while deploying the product with oracle reports at clients place,why because the client does not have the oracle 6i report server. To solve this problem we have to configure the oracle 6i report server run time component with application server at client side , but we are unable to configure this component(that is CGI handler).
You can run multiple instances of Reports Server in 6i.
In tnsnames.ora, for each server, have a different name and each listening to different port.
For example,
server1.world = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(Host = myhost.mydomain.com)(Port = 1949))
server2.world = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(Host = myhost.mydomain.com)(Port = 1950))
Also, if you want to know about Reports Server Clustering, you may refer to "Publishing Reports" document on OTN:

How to automatically login to apex and run a specific page / application
Hi all.
I'd like to know if there is a way of automatically login to apex and run a specific page / application. I mean, invoke browser and pass the necessary information to login (not public user) and run a specific application( ina secure way if possible).
Thanks in advance ...!Hi,
Well, as a very crude test you can set your authentication scheme to be Application Express Authenticationand define some users in Apex. Then create a before header login process on the login page (101) to automatically logon containing:
apex_authentication.login(
p_username => :P101_USERNAME,
p_password => :P101_PASSWORD );
:P101_PASSWORD := NULL;conditional on P101_PASSWORD is not null.
Then you can login by specifying your username and password in the URL e.g.
f?p=YOURAPP:LOGIN:::::P101_USERNAME,P101_PASSWORD:username,password

How to diagnose rapid memory growth in Solaris 10 java server application
Hi,
We have a production java based server that experienced large memory growth recently and we are looking for help in diagnosing what might be the cause. The memory footprint of this java server application is limited to 120M using the jvm -Xmx switch. The server process size held consistently at around 180M until an event happened that caused the process size to rapidly increase to aprox 3G. We used the java jstat command to check the application heap usage within the jvm was within the specified limits.
This application can be performs java Runtime exec's to run simple shell scripts from a variety of java threads in the server app.
We have attempted to search for a cause by analysing the output of the pmap, pfiles, and pstack commands but have been unsuccessfull at this. We have also attempted to run the libumem.so library with the application in the hopes of using mdb to find out where the heap usage is. Unfortunately when we followed the instruction on using limumem the application stopped working due an ELF error.
The following are what we used for libumem:
LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libumem.so
UMEM_DEBUG=default
UMEM_LOGGING=transaction
export LD_PRELOAD UMEM_DEBUG UMEM_LOGGING
<run the application>
The error we got is:
ld.so.1: nohup: fatal: /usr/lib/libumem.so: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS32
We are looking for advice on how to proceed in finding the cause for this growth. In addition to the diag info below we have captured the core file for the application from gcore. The following is the output from pfiles, pmap, pstack, and the showrev command.
Any help/suggestions appreciated.

SOCK_DGRAMI was finally able to reproduce this problem where I observed that within a 5 minute time span the jvm process grew from around 180M (VS) / 100M (RSS) to 2G (VS) / 1G (RSS). Here are some samplings at the end of my dtrace run showing the largest allocations that were made. We suspect this might be a JVM bug (since jstat reports our heap is well below the 120M limit we specified). Do you have any suggestions on how we might resolve this issue ?
Thanks,
Steve

Gentoo doesn't run a Java (Flash) application but Ubuntu yes
Hello everybody.
I can't find a solution to a Java-Flash-Gentoo related problem.
I would like to run a Java program, using an [external library|http://djproject.sourceforge.net/ns/] , to realize a Java FlashPlayer. This is the code of the player:
package testplayer;
import chrriis.dj.nativeswing.swtimpl.NativeInterface;
import chrriis.dj.nativeswing.swtimpl.components.JFlashPlayer;
import java.awt.BorderLayout;
import java.awt.EventQueue;
import javax.swing.JFrame;
import javax.swing.JPanel;
public class Main implements Runnable {
public static void main(String[] args) {
NativeInterface.open();
EventQueue.invokeLater(new Main());
NativeInterface.runEventPump();
public void run() {
JFlashPlayer player = new JFlashPlayer();
JPanel panel = new JPanel(new BorderLayout());
panel.add(player);
JFrame window = new JFrame("Test");
window.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.DISPOSE_ON_CLOSE);
window.add(panel);
window.setSize(400, 400);
window.setVisible(true);
player.load("http://www.youtube.com/v/XyX-KJwUohw");
}A window should be opened and the youtube video should play as well. Here's what I get on Gentoo Linux.
[http://i.imgur.com/XyYdk.png]
It doesn't find the flash plugin actually, even though it is installed and properly working.
My Gentoo is x86_64 architecture and if I try to run the same application on Ubuntu (x86_64), it works like a charm.
At the moment my www-plugins/adobe-flash USE flags are the following: 64bit -32bit.
Why this piece of code runs on Ubuntu and on Gentoo not????
Could it be something related to some environment variable?
Thanks a lot!I asked to the mantainers yet actually, but they didn't solve me the problem at the moment.
Perhaps some of you could have an idea of what I am missing on Gentoo.
What I can tell you, is that I tried to run that application on a fresh Debian installation and I've got the same problem.
So this happens because of something that is missing. But what?? :( -
How can I force new JVM for new browser instance?
I have an applet with some static variables.
When I run the applet in multiple browser instances that have been opened by clicking on the IE icon there are no problems because each browser instance has its own JVM.
However if I after downloading the applet I open a new browser by clicking CTRL + N or going to File->New Window, the new browser uses the same JVM as the original browser which causes problems with my static variables.
So I'm wondering is there a way to force the new browser instances to always have their own JVM instance?
Cheers,
DNo. Internet Explorer is trash. CTRL-N (or File > New > Window) causes so many more problems, e.g. sharing cookies and therefore also sharing session IDs (!).

How to launch a new terminal window from the current Finder folder?
Hello. I would like to have something like "DOS prompt here" menu item on the Finder popup menu, so that when I click it a new Terminal window is open and set to the respective directory.
Any ideas?I don't know of a way to do that... You might be able to use FruitMenu
http://www.unsanity.com/haxies/fruitmenu
and create a script to launch for the contextual menu that does what you want.
I just open Terminal (by clicking the icon on the Dock), type "cd " and drag the icon of the folder I want to go to to the terminal window (and Return). It's a few steps but not that bad. -
Novice here- how to keep my new macbook pro running smoothly
Hi, I am new to this forum and have recently purchased for first macbook pro 2011. As i am novice can anyone please advise any tips for keeping it running smoothly? For example I was advised to empty the caches folder in my library every so often, is this right?
ThankyouThere are a few things to do --
1) Disk Utility. Click on your disk and repair permissions. This is only if you notice some slight slowdown.
2) Clean out your hard drive. This is quite obvious, except few people stay on it. The smaller your HD, the more you should delete unnecessary items (like downloaded .dmg files that you used to install programs).
3) Treat it nicely. A hard drive won't spin if it's broken, and the better care you take of your computer, the easier it will be to notice when something's wrong. You can't hear the house creaking (nor would it matter) if the rest of the house is on fire. -
