How to Launch Live Office

Hi Gurus,
We are working on a Dashboard. Currently we feed all data manualy but we want to connect Xceslisu to Live office. I know how to create the connection. My problem is I cannot see Live office as a tool anywhere. Neither in Start MEnu nor in Excel. We are using office 2007.
Can anyone please guide me?
Thanks!

Hi,
1. Open your MS excel
2. Open Add-Ins under Excel Options.
3. Check whether your Live office is active or not , if not then
4. go to the folder(Under prog files-BO-Live office) whr u will find Enable_Addin.exe,
5. Double click on exe file and enable the live office .

  • How to configure Live Office Data with no Logon Prompt

    Hi,
I am using Xcelsius with Live Office.  Everything appears fine except that when I attempt to preview the dashboard using the Xclesius preview button I am being prompted with a logon screen.  For my clients this will not be an acceptable solution and I need to find a way to create this dashboard without having a logon prompt appear.
I have done some research and it appears that using Flash Vars with a CelogonToken variable is the way to go.  This is fine except that this solution requires that I either use the Variable to open a child swf or I have to embed the report in a .Net application and pass the value for the Flash Var using some c# or VB.net coding.
Ideally, I am looking for a way to pre set this password so that users can go straight to Infoview and view the dashboard.
I guess what I am really after is functionality similar to using a Web Service Connector which enalbes developers to fill in the password value as a part of the object and be done with it.
Does any one have any idea as to how this can be accomplished?
    Thanks,
    Ty

I want to set up a 'Guest' accountFine, but I recommend you use a different name, e.g. "visitor", not "guest".
If, under "Parental Controls" you select "Finder & System", then click "Configure", you can select "This user can only use these applications:" which gives you all the control you need. However, you may also need to check "Allow supporting programs" for some choices.

  • How to preset the BusinessObjects Enterprise logon with Live Office

Is there a way to define the enterprise logon information including password within an Xcelsius Dashboard that is using a Live Office Connector?
My scneario is that I have a spread sheet that is using Live Office to connect to a WebI report.  I need the dashboard to go out and grab the lastest instance of the scheduled WebI report on load.
I can do this but only with a logon prompt.  My clients are upper level management and they will not be interested in this dashboard if they have to enter a password just to view the information.
It appears that solutions using Flash Vars with .NET or child SWF are available, but I would really like something simpler.
For Example, if I use a Web Service Connector I can preset user id and password information right in the properties of the object.  Can this be accomplished in a Live Office Connector object?
    Thanks,
    Ty

As far as I know, there is no way to hard code the username and password for LiveOffice.
One thing you can do is use the BOBJ SDK to get the CELogonToken and pass that set that as a FlashVar on the SWF (in the OBJECT or EMBED tag).
The other solution would be to use QaaWS instead as the data source then you can hard code the user name and password.

  • How to get the Office 365 license when purchasing Stream 7?

I am setting up my Stream 7 today but there is no indication of where I find the 25 digit Activation Key for my free 1 year subscription of Office 365.
Anybody here know how to sign up?
    Many thanks.

    Hello @Pappy22 ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you're looking for information on activating your free 1 year subscription to Office 365 Personal.
Product activation is not handled by forum users, but to the best of my knowledge you should not need a registration key to activate the software. There should be an activation available once you launch the Office 365 software on the computer that prompts you to register and activate the software.
If it is asking for a key for the 1 year subscription check the packaging for a registration card that may include a key. If you do not find this please contact HP Phone Support. Please call our technical support at 800-474-6836. • Live Office SP3.4/Office 2010 - Live Office objects disappear on conversion

I am testing Live Office XI 3.1 FP3.4 on a Windows 7 laptop with Office 2010 installed and have a question.
I take an Excel 2003 file (XLS) file that has Live Office connections and open it in Office 2010. Then I save as an XLSX file. While saving I get a message that states:
"The name, [1]_1_CRADDIN_DataGrid, either conflicts with a valid range reference of is invalid for Excel. The name has been replaced with 11__1_CRADDIN_DataGrid. You may still need to manually update any references to this name used in VBA code or as text arguements in functions. You must close and reopen the workbook before these changes take effect."
I complete the save then close and reopen the file. When I go check for my Live Office objects, they seem to have disappeared (meaning I right click on what used to be a Live Office object, but I no longer see Live Office on the popup menu).
Can't I convert my old data models to the new excel format? I am doing this because the XLF is taking a LONG time to open in Xcelsius 2008 SP4 with multiple server busy messages. I thought updating the Excel file might speed things up but since the Live Office objects are disappearing from my spreadsheet this is not working as expected.
If any pointers can be given that would be great. If I have missed any documenation that may help me out, please let me know. I checked the Live Office documentation and the highest thing for XI 3.1 I see is SP3, no FP3.4 (or even SP4).

How do I know if Office is 64 bit? If I go to the control panel, I see that "Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010" is installed.
There are no named ranges in my sheet.

iam generating a report in dashboard with live office connection(3.0 version)  but when iam trying to set parameters the refersh button & modify button are disable. how to overcome from this issue?
    Regards,

    Hi Mahendra,
Confirm if you are getting the same issue outside Xcelsius  i.e in the Microsoft Excel.
Try refreshing the Live office objects in MS excel using the option "Refresh all objects "and then import  .xls it in Xcelsius.

  • Xcelsius and Live Office

    Hi,
please can you help me about this?
How can I pass the last refreshed instance of a WebI report to a live office connection?
I need to schedule a WebI report, let's say everynight, and to use the last instance as a data source for a dashboard (via Live Office)
    Many thanks in advance!

    Hi Franzi,
This is actually the default behaviour I think. Have you read the manual?
    http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/boexir31SP3/en/xi31_sp3_lo_user_en.pdf
It explains it all quite well.
I'd highly recommend looking into BI Services as they're faster and easier to work with than Live Office. There's a comparison here: http://blog.davidg.com.au/2011/04/live-office-vs-qaaws-vs-bi-services.html
    Hope that helps.

    Hi Ingo,
Yes the same report can be accessed from Infoview and we don't have any issues but once we save the live office objects locally on desktop then trying to connect to LIVE OFFICE to refresh the reports then we are getting the message.
Authentication method in Live office is SAP and I didn't check "Enable windows active directorysingle sign on"
Authentication method in Universe is " Use Specified user name and Password"
Can you please help me what could be the reason for the issue and how to resolve that.

    Hi,
Thanks for your response. Please see below answers to your question:
When you say that you are not able to connect from Word Live office to server - in this are you able to see Live Office tab in word document?
Yes, I can see the Live Office tab. When I try to connect to the server to insert a crystal report I get the message "constructor exception (error: WSE 99999) Unknown error "-1""
Did the installation process was done properly?
As far as I am aware, yes.
Which version of Live office you are using? because it will help to proceed further.
LIVE OFFICE XI 3.1 (version 12.1.0.882)
Where exactly you are not getting the Crystal Reports Options? Are you facing any error message? If Yes then what is the error message.
    Please see above
Are you able to login to server successfully?
I can in Excel in Live office but not in Word. As per the first message, I cannot see an option in Crystal to publish a crystal report. Do you know how I can do this? As I understand I need to publish it to the server and then Live Office will be able to see it.
    Regards
    Asha.

  • BO Live Office - Excel files no longer opening

    Hi all,
I've been running into a problem and only encountered it when installing BO Live Office. On my old computer, I used to be able to click on an Excel file that was on my desktop, for example, and then Excel would automatically open up and open the file. Then when I downloaded Live Office, I was no longer able to do this. Now everytime I click on an Excel file (no matter where it is located), I keep getting an error. Excel opens, but it tells me "There was a problem sending the command to the program."
At first I thought it was just my computer messing up and or something else was going wrong, but now I'm not so sure. I just recently got a new computer and I tried out opening an Excel file (from my desktop, for example) and it worked. Then I went and installed Live Office with the latest FixPack, etc. Once I installed it, it would no longer let me open an Excel File by clicking on the file. I keep getting the same error - "There was a problem sending the command to the program."
On my old computer, I had Office 2003 w/Windows XP and now I have Office 2007 w/Windows 7. It doesn't seem to matter if I have the latest software or upgrades/fixpacks. This error still occurs. I've tried turning off/disabling the Live Office Plug-in, but this has not worked either. Has anyone run into this problem before? I'm not sure how to go about fixing it. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Charlette

    Hi,
I also had the same issue (from couple of months) after we upgraded and it was very very frustating until I saw this post.
    Thanks a lot Tracy.
I added "%1" at the end in the field labeled u2018Application used to perform action:u2019
    "......\Microsoft Office\Office12\EXCEL.EXE" "%1" /e
The excel files are now opening. But there is also a message along with it. It says as below.
    >>>
Windows cannot find '<excel file name goes here>'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To searcg for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search.
    >>>
It's odd that the file is opening fine even though the above message shows up. This happens to every .XLS and .XLSX file. Atleast the file is opening now, which is great!
I am not sure how to fix the warning message.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks again.

  • Fatal error during installation of Live Office XI 3.1

    Hello everyone,
Im getting Fatal Error during the installation of BOBJ Live Office XI 3.1. The full description: "The installation ended prematurely because of an error." This error occurs immediately after popup with Installer Information.
Maybe it happens because of my system: Windows 7 64 bit, MS Office 2010.
Do you have any advice how can I install it?
    Thank you and best regards,
    Sofija

    Hi,
you should check the PAR but I'm pretty sure it doesn't run on Windows 7 nor on MS 2010.

  • How to reinstall Microsoft Office for Mac after new hard drive?

Recently I had a problem with my Macbook Pro, and unfortunately had to purchase a new hard drive and have it installed. This also led to the loss of data and other things, such as Microsoft Office for Mac. I know this is an Apple community, but I get better answers here than at the Microsoft communities so I'm hoping someone can help find out how to reinstall Microsoft Office 2013. I logged onto my Microsft account and it says that there is no record of me purchasing Microsoft Office on that account but I know thats the account that it was purchased on, so i cannot get my product key to reinstall it as directed. Someone please help!!!!

Try calling MS support and explaining the situation, maybe they will issue a new key.

  • Pivot tables in excel with Live Office

Once I save a business objects XI R2 web intelligence report to excel format and schedule to users the excel which the users receive should have pivot tables and users should be able to add any fields of their choice in the report and view it similar to the excel pivot tables. As far as I know I will be able to achive this functionality using Live Office. Is there any other way how I can achieve this and also has anyone worked on this kind of requirement and can confirm this will work without any issues with live office?

It is not possible to schedule the WebI reports in Excel format and use a predefined excel template for this.
What your users CAN do is to add their own pivot tables from the scratch in the excel file that was generated and delivered to them according to the schedule.
What you can do is use LiveOffice (have to install the plug-in on all user workstations though), bind the instances and deliver your users an excel file, which uses liveoffice to bind the scheduled webI report instances (eg. the latest instance). Your users can add the desired pivot table functionality on their own or you can predefine this in the excel file yourself.
Which version of BO do you use?

  • Live Office Connection not showing Go to Object Option

    Hi All,
i m using Xcelsius Enterprise 4.5. I have created a dashboard in which I m having a live office connection. I had added the live office connection from a Webi Report, Binded the Prompt and created a live office connection to the server. The report was working fine.
After a couple of days when I open the report again I find the Go to Object has been disabled in the report and the Modify Object shows only Properties option. The Refresh Object also does not work.
Could you tell me what has gone wrong and how to fix it.
    Thanks

I am still on Xcelsius 2008 but faced similar refresh disabled problems. May be this helps:
These days I maintain a Live Office Excel spreadsheet and import it into Xcelsius after any kind of changes.
You can maintain the data connections part within Xcelsius as required, but treat Live Office Excel report as a separate unit and set up all the refresh properties at report part level before you import it into and start developing the Xcelsius.
This way the refresh never gets affected and it works every time.
