How to leave emails on the server in os7?

Where is the option to leave a copy of all emails on the server on Iphone os7 when using IMAP accounts?  It used to be under settings, advanced, but in os7 I can't find it anywhere? all my emails downloaded to my iphone are deleted from the server and I need it to stop.

Follow these directions, but pay attention to comment 1 regarding drafts. Best instructions I've seen on how to set gmail up as IMAP.

    Hi RK GARG,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
The article below will explain how to access the Advanced settings in your email account.
Click on the link to see screen shots.
To answer your question ... change the Deleted Messages -  Remove field to Never
Using a POP account with multiple devices
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3228
In Settings, select Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Select the account for which you wish to change the settings.
Select Advanced, located at the bottom of the list.
    Cheers,

  • Leaving emails on the server

Is there any way to leave my emails on the server so that if I read them on the iPhone 3 GS I can still download them later on my computer using Windows Live mail? There are two accounts I want to be able to do this for - one is IMAP, the other POP.
    Thanks

IMAP accounts ALWAYS leave emails on the server - what you see on the phone/device is a mirror of what's on the server.
POP accounts are not designed for multple cliets.  Some POP servers can be configured to keep a copy of the email on the server after being dowloaded to a client, but then you risk redowloading deleted email as deleting occurs only on the client device. Not all POP servers can be configured to do this.

  • Leave email on the server

trying to understand why e-mails from    att.net  appear on my iPhone, then go away ........... what can I do to fix this?

There are mail settings for this
Settings > Mail Contacts Calendars >
Then pick your account and go to Advanced. You can select Remove from Server as Never, After seven days or When removed from inbox.

  • I can't get emails off the server

Ok, I know this has been discussed here before. But, just wondering if there is any NEW info on how to delete emails from the server. Yes, I have gone to advanced email settings and have selected the delete from server when removed from inbox option. But, still those emails are there so that when I check email on my laptop the same emails which I already read on my iPad pop up again. And, I have to delete them again from my laptop in order to remove them from the server. This is very annoying, especially since there is the option to remove emails from the server on the ipad settings, but apparently this option does NOT work.

After you read them on the ipad, are you deleting them?

  • How do i leave a copy off sent emails on the server with mac mail

How do i leave a copy off sent emails on the server with mac mail.
    Pop account

Check your mail preferences. The example below is from the mail app that comes with mac. In my case I'm using yahoo mail which is a POP3 account. POP stands for post office protocol which is the set of rules used by a POP mail account to transfer mail. You can learn more about it here if interested. If the box below is checked, all the mail will be downloaded to your computer when you check your mail using the built in mail app and removed from the mail server. Here is another page to help you set up your hotmail account for use the the mac mail application. Hope this clears things up.

  • How to keep your email on the server after deleting from the phone?

how to keep your email on the server after deleting from the phone?

If this is a POP mail account:
Settings > Mail.... > Your account > Advanced > Delete from server > Never.
However, this will risk re-downloading as new mail
IMAC  accounts mirror what's on the phone in the server, so deleting from the inbox on the phone will either send it to the trans folder on the server or leave it in the inbox but marked as deleted (depending on the server)
Settings > Mail.... > your account > Advanced > Deleted Mailbox > On My iPhone Trash

How can I make my imap email not take the emails off the server when I delete them on my iPad?
Can anyone help me whith this?
I tried to use the pop account in gmail settings but that was downloading all my emails sice 2008 ( more than 300 deleted emails tha can only be found in the deleted email box), when I just have 5 or 6 email in the inbox .
    How can I solve this????
    Thank u all...

I have the same problem. For years I have been able to delete emails from my ipad and have them remain on the server so I can deal with them on the desktop. Now they get deleted from the server when deleted from the ipad, which makes the ipad unless for reading mail.
You answered to delete the email account on the ipad and set up a new one as a pop. I have made many attempts to do that in the  incomping mail server "Host Name" field but it always errors out even when the host name is equal to what my desk top has. So I can see no way to change away from IMAP. I started with an ipad 1 and now have an ipad 2.

Just found out that my intrnet service provider has an imap email set up and means that I cannot leave a copy of my emails on the server, correct?

IMAP email is server based. All messages remain on the server and are viewed remotely when using an email client like Thunderbird. If you delete the message from a remote device it is removed from the server.

  • Mail Mac has deleted all my emails from the server..how to get them back?

Mistakenly, I've changed the options in Mail app in Mac, which says "Remove copy from server after retrieving a massage" Immediately, and it deleted all my emails from the server. Is there anyway to return all my 3000 emails back to the server? cuz I want to access them from anywhere :S it's a hotmail account.

You can create a new IMAP account in Apple Mail, and move all the messages to the IMAP folders. They are synced with the server.
I don't know if hotmail supports imap though, I would prefer Gmail.

  • My iPad suddenly stopped downloading new emails and also started downloading 16000 emails from the server!  Why and how to I fix this?

I cannot get new emails and my iPad is trying to download 16000+ emails from the server!

I would delete the e-mail account from your iPad's Mail Account List, Lock & Unlock your iPad by pressing power button to refresh system, than re-add the Mail Account with the correct POP3 + SMTP settings..

  • Mail downoading old emails from the server

I have a SBC/Yahoo/ATT/?? account that has been working fine. It was updated to their new secruity and pop server settings a couple of months ago. Since then, I have been prompted several times to re-enter the password when doing send/receive. That was ok, just annoying at times.
This weekend I opened up mail and it downloaded every email from the server (as if they were new)! I had certain emails set to redirect to my office, and so my office email got filled with redirected messages. It did not delete my messages from the server, but now I have duplicate/triplicate emails on my desktop. What happened and how do I prevent this from occuring again?!
    Please help.

This is a POP account, right? What are your Preferences > Accounts > Advanced > Remove copy from server settings?

Mail suddenly not being received from server. The ISP tells me there's nothing wrong at his end. I can see emails on the server if I look up WebMail; they don't come into Mail. I haven't changed anything lately. The incoming server details haven't changed; the Connection Doctor shows the accounts are connected; I've turned everything off including the modern. Have exhausted my limited knowledge. Anyone with something similar?

I have decided to dedicate this thread to the wonderful errors of Lion OSX. Each time I find a huge problem with Lion I will make note of it here.
Today I discovered a new treasure of doggie poop in Lion. No Save As......
I repeat. No Save As. In text editor I couldn't save the file with a new extension. I finally accomplished this oh so majorly difficult task (because we all know how difficult it should be to save a file with a new extension) by pressing duplicate and then saving a copy of the file with a new extension. Yet then I had to delete the first copy and send it to trash. And of course then I have to secure empty trash because if I have to do this the rest of my mac's life I will be taking up a quarter of percentage of space with duplicate files. So this is the real reason they got rid of Save As: so that it would garble up some extra GB on the ole hard disk.
So about 20 minutes of my time were wasted while doing my homework and studying for an exam because I had to look up "how to save a file with a new extension in  mac Lion" and then wasted time sitting here and ranting on this forum until someone over at Apple wakes up from their OSX-coma.
are you freaking kidding me Apple? I mean REALLY?!!!! who the heck designed this?!!! I want to know. I want his or her name and I want to sit down with them and have a long chat. and then I'd probably splash cold water on their face to wake them up.
I am starting to believe that Apple is Satan.
