How to list the rac databases on unix terminal

Hi guys, I am trying to find out how to list all the rac databases on the unix terminal.
the following command gives the list of all the databases running on a server
*'ps -ef |grep smon | awk '{print $8}' | awk -F"_" '{print $3}''*
of those databases i am trying to find the all the databases which are rac enabled.
I tried srvctl status database -d 'database name'
but with that i could find info on only one database at a time. So I am looking for a single command that lists out all the rac databases at a single go.
can someone please help me figure out that command

So in the example below replace "ernie" with the alias you want the client to use.
I can show you how I do it :
First an entry need to be added to the client tnsnames.ora that uses a SERVICE_NAME instead of a SID.

When I do this the Database will still register with the listener. I don't give that to the clients. That one will still be available but nobody knows about it. Meanwhile "ernie" moves with the database role.

SBS 2008 - How to rebuild the reporting database

I'd like to start using the inbuilt reporting facilities in SBS2008. But when I start up the console and click on "Reports", although I am taken to the SBS2008 console's reports screen, a couple of seconds later, the following error message
is displayed:
"There was an error while loading data for this page".
When I click "Close" to close the error message, I'm left looking at the console's reports screen but with nothing shown. The top pane simply says:
"There are no reports to display".
So, I then click on "Add a new report" in the right-hand pane. Nothing happens for a couple of minutes - not even an hour glass. Eventaully, a window opens up, headed "New Report Properties". So, I had a go at creating
a new report, e.g.:
- Report Name = Test123
- Content = Summary
- E-Mail Options = I entered my email address
- Schedule = I set it to daily at 9pm
When I clicked "Ok", after a couple more minutes of thinking, it came back with:
"The report properties cannot be saved. Reopen the Report Properties dialog, and then try again."
I don't know how to tackle this issue. I administer the network here but don't know SQL Server - and we don't have any SQL Server applications of our own - just the inbult ones like WSUS.
If there is a problem with the actual reporting database, I'd be happy to rebuild it, or even reinstall SQL. But I don't know how. My main concern is that WSUS is running beautifully and I don't want to go anywhere near anything that might
break it. I would rather have no reports than lose WSUS.
Could someone point me to some step-by-step instructions aimed at someone who knows Windows Server (to an extent) and SBS2008 - but has no knowledge of SQL Server?

I worked through the article but hit problems.  Any thoughts would be gratefully received.
Here's what happened:
1. I checked that SQL Server 2005 is installed and that Windows SBS Manager is installed and started
2. I looked for "SQLServer (SBSMONITORING)" in the list of services but it is completely missing
I then followed the section headed "If necessary, create a new SBSMonitoring database". This takes one to another article:

I followed the instructions, which included downloading Create-SBSMonitoringDb.ps1 and running it in an administrative Power Shell. When I ran it, I got a load of errors.

How to remove a RAC database

Hi Guys,
We have some issues with ASM diskgroups and due to this the diskgroups holding a 2 node RAC DB are not mounted . We want to remove this database cleanly so that we can drop the troubled diskgroups and create new one.Unfortunately we dont have a backup of this database as it is not production.So how can we clean it from asm/crs - dbca needs the database to be up before it can be removed but becuase of asm issue and non-availability of backups,it can not be brought up!
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi,
as database is mounted by RAC
1. shutdown node2 (database and ASM instance)
2. login to node1 , rman- drop database, which will drop all datafile, controlfile etc.
3. srvclt remove datase -d <db_name> : to remove from CRS reposioty
4. delete all parameter file or password file etc from $ORALCE_HOME/dbs
5. remove detail from /etc/oratab
5. drop ASM diskgroup

How to share the same Database Connection when using several Task Flows ?

Hi All,
I’m using JDev 11.1.1.3.0.
I’m developing ADF Fusion Applications (ABC BC, ADF Faces…)
These applications are deployed on a Weblogic server.
Each application has only one Application Module.
All Application Modules have the same connection type defined: JDBC DataSource : jdbc/GCCDS
It is working fine.
I’ve also developed Task Flow Applications for small thinks that are reused in multiple main applications.
Each Task Flow Application has also one Application Module with the same connections type as main applications.
All these task flows are deployed to JAR file (ADF Library JAR File) and are reused on my main applications. (drag and drop from the Resource Palette to ADF Regions….).
There are some parameters passed to Task Flows, so that they can filter data depending on which main applications they are called from.
Everything is working perfectly.
All my main applications are using more and more task flows. Which is nice for the reusability etc…?
Only ONE PROBLEM: DATABASE CONNECTIONS.
Every Task Flows service made a database connection. So one user may have 10 database connections for the same adf page. And when there are 100 users that are working at the same time, it becomes a problem.
How to share the same database connections for the main applications and all task flows which are used in the main application?

There is something very wrong in basic understanding of Oracle RDBMS architecture, when running 10 Oracle instances on a single server.
10x temp space. 10x redo space. 10x SGA. 10x system processes footprint. This is NOT how one scales Oracle and NOT how one uses Oracle optimally.

There are two ways of using a logical database - either by linking it with the executable program(specify the LDB name in the program attributes) or by using the function module LDB_PROCESS.
1.Data read by the logical database is passed back to the program using the interface work areas.Use GET statements in the report.
GET events are implemented internally as FORM routines.
2.If you call the logical database using the above function module, the selection screen of LDB is not displayed.It uses special subroutines called callback routines, which are called by the function module and filled with the required data.

Well I guess if you wish to retain that architecture, i.e. HTMLDB on one machine and your data on another, you will have to establish database links to access the data. Oracle documentation will describe how to achieve that.

In case your portal has MS SQL server as its databse, then I am giving the step by step directions to achieve 90% of what you wish to do. Rest 10% you can try on your own.

You need do the following for oracle type4 driver:
1) register the driver:
$IAS_HOME/bin/jdbcsetup
Driver Identifier: Oracle_Type4_816 (whatever name you like)
Driver Classname: oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver
Driver Classpath: .../classes12.zip (install this this zip file somewhere
and add this zip into the Classpath later).
2) DataSource Setup:
start iAS Administration Tool (iASAT)
Choose Database, unfold iAS1 (your app server instance),
choose External JDBC Datasource -> add: DataSource Registration
JNDI Name: yourPoolName
Driver Type: Oracle_Type4_816 (select what you just register)
DataSource Url: jdbc:oracle:thin:@hostName:portName:dbName
Username: your_user_name
Password: your_passwd
(Datasource Pool: using defaults for now): you can also customrize the
parameters for the pool.
3. Add classes12.zip into CLASSPATH.
In your application, you can use JNDI lookup to get the DataSource from
which you get the connection from the pool.
