How to listen to audio in?

Is it possible to play music being sent through the audio in port out loud or through headphones? I have tried to work this out using GarageBand but to no avail.
Could anyone recommend some software, or give me instructions on how to do this using original Apple software?

Often, but not always, when I start my A6, the MMI starts on the first song on my iPod, thereforeI don't know where I stopped in my 4-6 hour book. How can I get the interface to stay stopped where I left off? I have gone into iTunes and placed my current book as the first "song" on my iPod for ease of finding it, but often the MMI starts it over at the beginning. Thank you if anyone has any experience with this. My dealer in San Rafael, CA says they've never heard of this issue.

I think my iPod, which is an iPod touch 3rd generation , which is a lot different from a nano, which really makes it almost impossible for me to help you, which is why I suggested that you post your question in the iPod nano community. Your first post says that your product is an iPod nano. I think the people who answer those questions would be most likely to help you. If yours isn't a nano then you can pick the right community from here. This community is really to answer questions about this forum, or issues that don't fit anywhere else.

Use Flash Media Server to stream the files.......set up a timer and have all three of them play at once....and have a button switch the streams depending upon which stream you want to play.....and wallah......
you can also capture the stream.time from the video playing and resume from that point on the other videos as well....havent done this theoretically so I dont know how smooth the transistion between streams will be....but it can be done....
plus u may have to use double buffering techniques to make sure it starts up right away......

The same slot is used for the output and the input, so I'm a bit stuck.

Are you using an external sound card?
If so, go to system preferences under the apple in the top RH corner of the menu bar. Open sound and select thus device as your audio output.
OS X automatically defaults to the laptop's internal speakers ans mic input.

My batteries seem to lose power quickly. How long should I expect it to last when listening to audio books or radio?

May 30 hour with audio book since that is the same as music.

If you want to listen to the sounds of your drum set, you should use an audio cable and connect it to the computer's line-in, then create a real instrument track.
If you use a Midi/USB interface, you'll have to create a software instrument track and select one of GB's drumsets as the instrument. Hopefully your drumset's midi notes are mapped to the right sounds in GB.

Thats what I was doing wrong. Both music and books were ticked but I wasn't clicking on the books tab and ticking what I wanted to upload there.
All I need to do now is work out why iTunes stops working when I start typing to submit details gracenote.

How do you monitor audio?

I have a few questions about monitoring audio in my fcp/stp projects.
Currently, I have a g5 quad that has an optical toslink output, that I use to connect to the optical in on a good denon home theater receiver (avr 3801). This is how i output my mac's audio. I have two B&W bookshelf speakers as my monitor speakers.
Is this acceptable to use to monitor my sound for my editing projects? I am not doing much music work, mostly just voice track cleanup on my video projects.
How do you connect audio equipment in your setup to monitor audio?
I am thinking of buying an Alesis 12 track multimix firewire mixer, is this a better interface to use and do I route the signal from the multimix to the receiver to get to the speakers, or should I just get powered monitor speakers and connect them to the mixer?
Also, when editing audio, which is mostly dialogue, is there a volume setting I should keep my receiver at and just work the levels in stp to get the volume right? My receiver has a volume level from -60Db to 0 to 18Db. I am worried about setting my project audio to high or too low.
