How to listen to .mp3 songs in Solaris 10 -x86 ??

Hello friends,
I have installed Solaris-10 on my PC ( ie Solaris 10 for x86). I would like to play .mp3 files (songs). I checked that mpg123 is installed. At the same time, I could not find the files /dev/audio and /dev/audioctl. Browsing the net fetched me the information that if /dev/audio and /dev/audioctl files are missing, then it means that the sound card is not installed properly. How do I ensure that he sound card is installed properly? What are the methods to listen to .mp3 songs in solaris?
Since I am new to Solaris, I would request you to guide me in a step-by-step procedure.

Thank you sir for that excellent link which you have sent. I could diagonise as to what is the problem in my system. The problem is that the driver is not installed. Also, in the link, there is another link from where we can know the make and the information as to which installable has to be downloaded to fit our sound card. My sound card's device id is 2 (yes, just 2) and upon seaching in the sub-link (ie http://www.pcidatabase.com/index.php) , I find that for device id 2, the chipset information is "BLANK" ( that is there is no information about the chipset), but the vendor is Compaq.
Could you please let me know as to how to proceed with this issue. Which installable should I download and proceed?

You can't do this directly within the device. Your media needs to be in an iTunes library on your computer. See Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device if necessary.
Select your song.
On the Get Info > Options tab set start and stop times less than 40 seconds apart.
Under Edit > Preferences > General tab > Import Settings choose AAC Encoder > High Quality 128k.
Right-click on the song and select Create AAC version.
Reset the start and stop times on the original track.
Right-click on the new copy and click Show in Windows Explorer.
Change the file extension from .m4a to .m4r. (You may need to adjust folder options to see the extensions)
Move the file into the Automatically Add to iTunes folder.
Delete the broken entry to the file that you renamed and moved.

How to Reorganize CSM200 Shared Storage in Solaris 10 x86 Oracle 10gR2

I could use some guidance from those who are more experienced in RAC administration in a Solaris environment with ASM. I have a three-node RAC with Oracle 10gR2 instances on top of Solaris 10 x86 where the shared storage is a Sun CSM200 disk array which looks like a single disk to the rest of the world. I'm not very familiar with the CSM200 Common Array Manager but I do have access to use it.
During initial setup, I followed the Oracle cookbook and defined a storage slice for each of the following: OCR, OCR mirror, three voting disks, and +DATA, for a total of six slices. I brought up the RAC and we've used it for a couple of weeks.
This is a Dev and QA environment, so it changes pretty fast. The new requirement is to add a +FRA and to add a mount point for a file system on the shared storage, so that all three Oracle instances can refer to the same external table(s).
However, I've already used all the available slices in the VTOC on the shared logical drive. I'm not sure how to proceed.
1) Is it necessary to use the CAM to create two logical disks out of the single existing logical disk?
2) If so, how destructive is that? I don't need to keep the contents of the database, but I do not want to reinstall CRS or ASM or the DB instances.
3) Is it possible to combine the OCR and its mirror on the same slice, thus freeing a slice for reuse?
4) Is it possible to combine all three voting disks on the same slice, thus freeing two slices for reuse?

Another question: Under 10.2.0.4, is it possible for the OCR and voting disks to be managed by ASM? I know it would be possible under 11g, but that's not an option as I am trying to match a customer's environment and they aren't going to 11g any time real soon.

What you see is what happens when the Java runtime running on Solaris 10 x86 tries to load a library which is compiled for SPARC.
Because of the native parts in SAP GUI for Java, compilations and installers are required for each OS - HW combination.
The supported platforms can be seen in SAP note 954572. For Solaris only SPARC is currently supported.
Because of the effort needed for compiling, testing, support etc. it is required to focus on OS - HW combinations widely used on desktop machines and Solaris 10 on x86 currently does not seem to be one of those.

Looks like you have installed your Solaris 10 on traditional UFS disk partitions and not using the ZFS whole disk. If so then you need to resize de underlying partition using the format command and then run the growfs to resize the /opt.

I guess this work to all Symbian60 v3. Anyway, I read the manual and even tried on the phone.
Either each contact, you change the Ringing Tone(in options), but I can only see the built in ringing tones. Cant see my mp3 list.
OR
in Music Player, I choose a song, and set it as a Ringing Tone, but asks me if I wanna use it in all my profiles. If I choose No, then it will cancel it.
I want to have different mp3s per contact. Anyone knows how?

I should mention that, for the first problem, I do make sure that my new tracks are stored in the folder where I told iTunes that my music is in. Also, when I say the cataloging of my library stops short of cataloging all my songs, I have tried leaving the computer unattended for days (my computer's sleep mode is disabled). I don't have this problem with wma files. When I play any of these mp3 music files in Windows Media Player, I get the whole thing. Fresh install of solaris 10 x86 hangs after 'Configuring devices'

Hi All,
I just received a new SuperMicro server with an LSI MegaRAID SAS 9261-8i controller. While trying to install Solaris 10 it hangs after "Configuring devices". I checked the LSI page and Solaris 10 is supported according to them. Any ideas how to proceed?
Fairly new to Solaris on x86 hardware.
The system has a Xeon X5690 processor in an Intel Workstation Board S5520SC motherboard. The motherboard documents claim that not disabling usb 2.0 can hang an install. I have disabled the usb 2.0 in the bios but the system still hangs. Booting it with the -kd and -kv options don't give much information.
Any help is appreciated. I might be returning these machines if I can't get this worked out.

See if you can add the verbose option "-v" to the kernel boot options. I think you can get to the GRUB menu off the Solaris 10 install disk. That should tell you what device is causing the hang, or at least the last device that worked.
Also, can you try Solaris 11 and see if it gets past that point? A few years ago I has a similar issue with Solaris 10 on a Dell server. Solaris 11/OpenSolaris worked fine, though. IIRC I could work around the issue if I disabled the 2nd CPU - Solaris 10 had a problem bringing up the 2nd CPU on that Dell's CPU/MB config.
