How to load a partial hierarchy

EPM 10 NW
While loading 0GL_ACCOUNT not all master data in BW is relevant for my planning in BPC hence i need to load only one branch of the hierarchy.
As far I can tell we can only filter by an attribute when you are loading from BW INFOOBJECT using Data Manager package. But in our case there is no attribute which can identify all the members i need to load.
Is there a way to load master data from only a specific branch and not full hierarchy?
NODE
NODE1 -> NODE11, NODE12
NODE2 -> NODE21, NODE22
In the above tree i only want to extract NODE2 -> NODE21,NODE22    into hierarchy  ignoring NODE1 in BW.

Hi Andrew!
I´m not sure if you can explicit just load one branch, but you have some options both in transformation file and in Conversion file.
If that dont work then I guess one option is to load the whole hierarchy and then build your pown customized hiearchy and use that in the planning sheets.
For ex if you load the whole hierarchy and then define a Parenth2 hierarchy in BPC and use only Node and Node 2 members in that hierarchy.

    Hi Experts,
I have created hierarchy but unable to activate. When ever i click on activate hierarchy it gives me an error as there is no data to load, but when i schedule the data in infopackage i am able to request the data.Even in PSA i can see the data .
Please guide me how to load the data in hierarchy.

    Hi Sameer,
BI 7.0 does'nt support hierarchy datasource. For hierarchy you have to use BW 3.X datasource only..
You can use the following link and that would help you out.

  • How to load Profit Center hierarchy from R3 to BW

    Hi people,
Sorry, but I already saw some documentations here and I couldn´t solve my problem.
I need to load Profit Center Hierarchy from R3 to BW.
I already have the InfoSource 0PROFIT_CTR activated and I would like to know what are the steps to load the "Standard Hierarchy"  that we have in the transaction KCH6N in R3.
I tried to create the Infopackage based on 0PROFIT_CTR_HIER and when I tryed to schedule, the system asked me the file name to put in the "external data", but I don´t have file to load, I need to load de hierarchy directly from R3.
    Help me please,
    Thanks,
    Rosana.

U have to activate datasource 0PROFIT_CTR_0106_HIER in R/3 system and replicate that to BW.
And u should install standard transfer rules (0PROFIT_CTR_0106_HIER  from BI CONTENT) in BW system.
Create infopackage to load hierarchy.. In Infopackage properties, 'Hierarchy Selection' tab, click 'Available Hierarchies from OLTP' and select ur profit center hierarchy.
There is no difference loading hierarchy data in BW 3.5 and BI 7.0

    Any suggestions plz?

    Hi,
Just follow the docs in "How Tou2026 Automate BPC 7.0, version for the NetWeaver Platform Master Data Loads from BW to BPC"
where you will get detail step-by-step procedure to load data.
    Check the url:
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/00380440-010b-2c10-70a1-e0b431255827
Before that you have to transport into BPC system the load to work fine.

  • How to load 3.x hierarchy data source from a certain level ?

    Hi all,
I have an old 3.x hierarchy data souce which has a structure like below :
       Level 0 :  root node
                  Level 1:  Product Category
                      Level 2: Product Line
                          Level 3: Product
                              Level 4 : Product Version
each level has independent infoobject for it.
The hierarchy was initially constructed for the infoobject on the level 4 'Product Version'.
Now here comes anther requriement, we also want to have a hierarchy for 'Product' and try to reuse the datasource.
So the question is , is it possible to extract from the same data source, while just update the hierarchy for 'Product ' starting from the level 3 (up to level 0)?
PS: i can't migrate the data souce to 7.X, because the source system doesn't support.
I hope I made my question clearly.
Really apprericated that you can give me a hint.
    Thanks,
    Amon

Finally I solved this problem myself.
there are many mays if you want to realize the requirement, only if you change your way of thinking, don't be stuck your mind with the thought we have to use the original data source coming from the source system.
I'd like to introduce 2 ways I am thinking of:
    1. use the SAP standard program 'Z_SAP_HIERARCHY_DOWNLOAD' to save the hierarchy as a .csv file, then you can refer to http://scn.sap.com/community/data-warehousing/bw/blog/2012/01/08/bw-730-hierarchy-loading-becomes-easier-with-the-help-of-new-framework
however this didn't work for me, because the program might be outdated in my working environment BW7.4, though I did some bugfix for this program , the output file seems with some errors.
    2. since the hierarchy for the 4th level infoobject has been successfully updated in my case, we can use it as the data provider directly . Here is the general dataflow : 4th level infoobject hierarchy -> DSO -> target infoobject hierarchy (3rd level infoobject) .
for this DSO strucure, you should also refer to the link above, the structure is just like the EXCEL file provided. but you should be aware of adding external characteristics in the data fields of your DSO if there is external characteristics in your hierarchy.
in the transformation of 'source infoobject hierarchy' , you should select 'hierarchy (one segment)' as the subtype of hierarchy.
in the transoformation of 'DSO -> target infoobject' , you should map the source and target carefully , especially for the segment 'Structure' , you should make sure the field 0H_HIERNODE and the external chars. have proper value filled.

  • How to load a Hierarchy after a change in the R/3 system?

    Hi All,
We have a hierarchy in BW hat we extract from R/3. But now they have added two new nodes to the hierarchical structure which is not being reflected in the BW version of the hierarchy. Can you tell me how to load into BW the latest version of the R/3 hierarchy with those two new nodes??
    Thanks Much for any Input,
    Reddy

    Hi Reddy,
If you have modified just the function module to populate the hierarchy in R/3 then the hierarchies should load fine on BW. However if you have changed the datasource and there is a datasource(active) in the transport request in R/3 then you would need to replicate the datasource in BW and then load the hierarchy. Hope it helps.
    Bye

  • How to see data in hierarchy

    Experts,
I was searching on the forums, but could not find an appropriate thread on this. I want to see data
    1. In PSA tables or equivalent for the hierachy data after succesful infopackage load. I can see the number of records in the monitor for infopack, but how to see the actual data for that run some where like 'ALE Inbox'.
    2. When I click on 'display' of the hierarchy, I can see the infoobjects under the hierarchy, but how to see the actual data inside those infoobjects?
Please list the tcodes if possible.

    Hi Latha,
Whenever you create a hierarchy and activate it, an internal ID called Hierarchy ID will be generated and this information is stored in the table RSHIEDIR. In SE12 go to this table and in place of HIENM give the name of your Hierarchy and IOBJNM as the name of the infoobject for which you created this hierarchy(0costelmnt in this case). With this you will get a HIEID.
Pass this HIEID to the Hierarchy (H) table of the costelement infoobject(/BI0/HCOSTELMNT) and here you will find all the 9 records that you loaded for your hierarchy. Hope this helps solve your issue.

  • How to load hierrarchies using dtp  using flat file  in bw  ineed clear ste

how to load hierrarchies using dtp  using flat file  in bw  ineed clear steps

    Hi,
If you want to load InfoObjects in the form of hierarchies, you have to activate the indicator with hierarchies for each of the relevant InfoObjects in the InfoObject maintenance. If necessary, you need to specify whether the whole hierarchy or the hierarchy structure is to be time-dependent, whether the hierarchy can contain intervals, whether additional node attributes are allowed (only when loading using a PSA), and which characteristics are allowed.
1.Defining the source system from which you want to load data:
Choose Source System Tree ® Root (Source System) ® Context menu (Right Mouse Button) ® Create.
For a flat file, choose: File System, Manual Metadata; Data via File Interface.
2.Defining the InfoSource for which you want to load data:
Optional: Choose InfoSource Tree ®Root (InfoSources) ® Context Menu (Right Mouse Button) ® Create Application Component.
Choose InfoSource Tree ® Your Application Component ® Context Menu (Right Mouse Button) ® Create InfoSource ® Direct Update
Choose an InfoObject from the proposal list, and specify a name and a description.
3.Assigning the source system to the InfoSource
Choose InfoSource tree ® Your Application Component ® One of your InfoSources ® Context Menu (Right Mouse Button) ® Assign Source System. You are taken automatically to the transfer structure maintenance.
The system automatically generates DataSources for the three different data types to which you can load data.
          Attributes
          Texts
Hierarchies (if the InfoObject has access to hierarchies)
The system automatically generates the transfer structure, the transfer rules, and the communication structure (for attributes and texts).
4.Maintaining the transfer structure / transfer rules
Choose the DataSource to be able to upload hierarchies.
Idoc transfer method: The system automatically generates a proposal for the DataSource and the transfer structure. This consists of an entry for the InfoObject, for which hierarchies are loaded. With this transfer method, during loading, the structure is converted to the structure of the PSA, which affects performance.
PSA transfer method: The transfer methods and the communication structure are also generated here.
    5.Maintaining the hierarchy:
Choose Hierarchy Maintenance, and specify a technical name and a description of the hierarchy.
PSA Transfer Method: You have the option here to set the Remove Leaf Value and Node InfoObjects indicator. As a result, characteristic values are not transferred into the hierarchy fields NODENAME, LEAFFROM and LEAFTO as is normally the case, but in their own transfer structure fields.  This option allows you to load characteristic values having a length greater than 32 characters.
Characteristic values with a length > 32 can be loaded into the PSA, but they cannot be updated in characteristics that have a length >32.
The node names for pure text nodes remain restricted to 32 characters in the hierarchy (0HIER_NODE characteristic).
The system automatically generates a table with the following hierarchy format (for sorted hierarchies without removed leaf values and node InfoObjects):
    Description
    Field Name
    Length
    Type
    Node ID
    NODEID
    8
    NUMC
    InfoObject name
    INFOOBJECT
    30
    CHAR
    Node name
    NODENAME
    32
    CHAR
    Catalog ID
    LINK
    1
    CHAR
    Parent node
    PARENTID
    8
    NUMC
    First subnode
    CHILDID
    8
    NUMC
    Next adjacent node
    NEXTID
    8
    NUMC
    Language key
    LANGU
    1
    CHAR
    Description - short
    TXTSH
    20
    CHAR
    Description - medium
    TXTMD
    40
    CHAR
    Description- long
    TXTLG
    60
    CHAR
The system transfers the settings for the intervals and for time-dependency from the InfoObject maintenance. Depending on which settings you have defined in the InfoObject maintenance, further table fields can be generated from the system.
The valid from and valid to field is filled if you select Total Hierarchy Time-dependent in the InfoObject maintenance. The time-dependent indicator is activated if you select the Hierarchy Nodes Time-dependent option in the InfoObject maintenance.
    6.Save your entries.
Depending on which settings you defined in the InfoObject maintenance, additional fields can be generated from the system. Also note the detailed description for Structure of a Flat Hierarchy File for Loading via an IDoc and for Structure of a Flat Hierarchy File for Loading via a PSA.

  • How to build a part-hierarchy ?

    Hi specialists,
I fear the topic is not very descriptive.
    Here's my scenario and problem:
A hierarchy (customers) is loaded from the R/3-system to the business warehouse.
Unfortunately the Customers don't start on Level 1 of that hierachy - but on Level 2.
      Level 1 is a stand-alone hierarchy-node called "standard-hierarchy".
I'd like to build provide the bw-users a 2nd hierachy which is identical to the one descibed above, but without that senseless node on level 1. This node should/could be deleted an every descendant of this node would raise 1 level in that. Very easy in theory, and very easy to do that manually with the rsa1-hierarchy-desinger. But: How can I reach that target by some abap-code? I'd like to load my hierarchy desicribed above twice (with renaming of one of them), followed by a abap-program which could to the reconstruction.
Could you please gimme a hint how I can manipulate the hierarchy by an abap-program?
I realized that just changing the records in the /BI0/H*-Table of my hierarchy isn't enought (or just to "rough").
Thanks in advance for your hints!

The main-reason is that bringing the customers to level1 massively influences the report-presentation in the bw. And because it concerns only the bw, I wanted to provide the lightly modified hierarchy only on that level.
I do not want to come into the situation that somebody (even not from the R/3 team) needs to manage an additonal hierachy. The existing hierachy should be the leading and only one in the R/3 - and should be used in the bw in the described modified format.

  • How to load aliases to Dimension

    Hi,
I have a Dimension Hierarchy like this,
    Account_Dim     (Dimension)
             -------> product1 (Member)
             -------> Product2 (Member)
I am able to load aliases for members(product1 & product2) through HspOutlineLoad.sh with csv file. But don not  know how to do the same for Dimension Name (Account_Dim).
HspOutlineLoad with " /D " switch seems to be loading only member properties. Please help how to load aliases to Dimension name through HspOutlineLoad. Sample format of csv/or whatever would be of great help.
    Thanks
    Mamatha

You'll have to create 3 alias tables to hold 3 aliases. You cannot have 3 aliases for a dimension with 1 alias table.
After adding you can then load (your header will look like something similar)
    Account,Parent,Alias: Default,Alias: French,Alias: German,Alias: Italian,Data Storage,Source Plan Type,Plan Type (Plan1),Aggregation (Plan1),Plan Type (Plan2),Aggregation (Plan2),Plan Type (Plan3),Aggregation (Plan3),Plan Type (Wrkforce),Aggregation (Wrkforce),Plan Type (Capex),Aggregation (Capex)

  • Loading Material group hierarchy

    Hi all,
Can anybody help me in loading " 0MATL_GROUP_LKLS_HIER" datasource to BI. I am not seeing any stnd transfer rules for the same. How to load this hierarchy ?
    Regards
    KK

    Hi ,
Pls use BW07 & BW10 Tcodes for generating the Hierarchy Data Source in R/3.
If its a set of hierarchy you can use tcode BW07 to generate datasoucre, and for standard hierachies you must be having datasources already created.
Now just replicate datasoucre in BW side, and in infopckage selection you can get newly created hierarchy. Select and schedule it, it will be loaded into BW.
For External Hierarchy in BW , download to Flatfild and then upload.
