How to load DVD in to Super Multi DVD burner

I know this is a stupid question. But I was trying to put a DVD into the tray on my Desktop and I couldnt' get the thing to close. Anybody have any instructions on how to do this.

There is a button on the front of the drive. Push it and the door should close. Also, you can gently push the door and it should close.

I need to install a newer version of Mac OS on the old iMac I have to use. The problem is that my iMac is not equipped with DVD drive, and the instalation software is on DVD disk.
A friend of mine has offered to lend me an external DVD drive: LG GSA-E10L Super Multi DVD Rewriter, but it seems to be (surprise, surprise!) not compatible with Mac computers.
Is there any way I can still use it?

Here are the possible solutions for you to achieve installing the latest & greatest OS X on this 5 year old iMac:
Media Exchange Programme (swap your DVD for CDs).
Buy Tiger on CDs (link).
Purchase an External Firewire DVD±RW DL Burner (link).
The iMac G4 15" 700MHz CD-RW only shipped with 128Mb RAM. 256Mb is the bear minimum for OS X 10.4 so you should look at installing a 512Mb SODIMM for a 640MB total. See RAMSEEKER (link) for prices and here for installation instructions (link). To check how much RAM you have now go to  > About this Mac.

You don't have installer discs with that model. What do you need to do? USB and Thunderbolt external drives do not require any special software. If you need to partition and format them, then use Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.

Just wanted to conclude by saying that I did go to an Apple store and after supplying proof of purchase and verifying the warranty etc, I had my MacBook checked out by one of the technicians who (after finding that my machine was immaculate bar the sticky keyboard of course) they replaced the entire keyboard within a week.
I was so happy with the helpful and prompt service and am now so happy with my new silent keyboard!
Also wanted to add that the young guy who told me at the iStore that he doubted Apple would support this and guessed Apple likely say it was due to user damage was being a tool, and he was obviously assuming that I had done something wrong to break my keyboard.
This was my first Mac purchase and I was delighted to find that the support is genuine and not just a rumor... I have since gone on to purchase an iPad2 will probably buy the iMac too once my trusty PC needs replacing. I was never a PC hater and got on well with windows, and was actually reluctant to make the change - but so far so good :)

You should check the Eldorados tip. Furthermore you should try to burn different medias.
If this doesnt solve the burning issue so I suggest that there is something wrong with the drive.

DVD Burner; LG Super Multi DVD Rewriter no longer working under 10.6

Model GSA-5163D, FireWire Burner.
Since upgrading to 10.6 my computer no longer sees this burner.
Any ideas as to how to get it to work under 10.6?

Bought a HP Super Multi DVD Rewriter GH40L to replace a HP dvd420i

Thought I was upgrading but not so. It appears that the GH40L may not be compatible with XP. I looked at OEM's firmware upgrades for the unit and it's for Vista and beyond. I don't want to fry the drive. Is their any firmware that could make the drive compatible with XP. Or possibly an XP driver? Some software recognizes the drive as RAM only. It's wacky!
Did I waste my money? The OEM Mod # is LGE-DMGH22LS40(B)

I understand that you are having issues with your Optical Drive on your HP Compaq dc7900 Business PC. I am sorry, but to get your issue more exposure, I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums, since this is a commercial product. You can do this at Business PCs - Compaq, Elite, Pro.

Anyway, Could you please confirm for me this the Maximum resolution of my VGA is 1366 by 768 pixels, and cannot be extended.
That is correct. It cannot be extended. That is the limit for the built-in display. Using an external display that is capable of higher resolution might help in that matter but then you loose the portability of the laptop.
I came across a free BluRay player just this week, it is found here. Leawo Blu-ray player: http://www.leawo.org/blu-ray-player/
It is the only free BluRay player I have found.
That is about all I can do to help. The other possibility would be to get an external Bluray drive that can fulfill all your expectations, give you lightscribe, and possibly a BluRay player included with the purchase. It would be much less worrisome on your part and there would not be any modifications to the laptop.

Sat Pro L10 DVD Super Multi Drive

I have a new Satellite Pro L10 with DVD Super Multi Drive running XP Pro. I have not been able to write to the DVD drive - either it does not recognise the DVD in the drive or it blue screens and crashes when I am using the Windows Back-up facility before I can read the error message. I am now getting very nervous as I have not been able to back it up for the 6 weeks I have had it....
I can play pre-recorded DVDs (i.e. movies) in the drive and it can read Cds and some makes of DVD. The manual is singularly unhelpful on how to use/troubleshoot the Super Multi drive

Unfortunately not. The Toshiba specification for the L10 simply states that Sonic RecordNow and WinDVD Creator are supplied as bundled software.
The only options are :-
1. The software is pre-installed on the hard drive,
2. The software is provided on the Toshiba tools & Utilities CD
3. The software is provided on OEM CDs.
Toshiba use a combination of the above three methods depending upon which model of notebook is purchased. On some models item #2 is not supplied but has to be created by the purchaser.
When I bought my A30 it used a combination of #2 and #3 for the bundled software, with Drag'N'drop CD being supplied on the tools and utilities CD but with Microsoft Works and Onenote supplied on OEM CDs. Everything else was pre-installed oin the HD.
It seems strange that you have neither Sonic or Windvd Creator on you system.
It may be worth checking with the people where you purchased your notebook to ensure that they supplied all the necessary bits and pieces.
Sorry I can't be any more helpful but it is very unlikely that both products have been accidently deleted from the system, so the real issue is to locate the original source for them.

T61 no longer recognizes DVD super-multi drive

My T61 for some reason has stopped recognizing my DVD super-multi drive (GSA-U10N). I do not use the optical drive often, so I am not sure when during the past couple of months this occured. I have tried finding it using Lenovo System Toolbox and Device Manager. I have tried restarting. I have tried physically removing the drive and putting it back in. No matter what I try, my T61 says that there is no optical drive. The little green light next to the drive slot remains on all the time.
My T61 is a 7662 CTO, Core 2 Duo T7500, 4 GB ram, 100 GB HD, NVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M running Windows Vista Ultimate, 64-bit, SP2.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

you should try to run a linux live cd, and see whether the drive is detected. If it is not, then either the cd drive or the motherboard is having a hardware problem.

It will not work. iLife is for Mac OS but the ipad runs iOS. Different operating system. Think of it as one talking german and the other speaking chinese. The only way to load apps onto the ipad is via the appstore.
Its the same reason you cant run PC software on a Mac.
