How to load monitor profiles under Bootcamp running Windows XP?

I have a macbook pro SR (Geforce 8600M GT 256MB) with bootcamp and I can't start the color control panel applet on windowsXP. I have an external monitor and I downloaded an icc profile made by an user with the same monitor and panel. It works perfect under MacOS, but in WindowsXP I can't do anything.
Anybody knows if exists any other software to load a color profile when Windows starts up?
Thanks and sorry for my english. Bye!

  • 20" imac won't restart after rebooting under bootcamp running Windows XP. I get a black DOS screen with an error message.

My imac has been running without problems under OS X Snow Leopard and bootcamp running Windows XP for a long time. I had received a Sony MP3 player and wanted to install the software on my computer. At the time I had a CD in my drive slot because I was getting ready to install some brother's software for a printer I wanted to use. I restarted my imac under bootcamp and started installing the Sony software in Windows XP. I was having problems with the install  and decided to restart XP to see if that would help. It's been several days since this originally happened so I'm not of sure of any more specifics at this point other than I've had to use windows machines for a long time and know that basically when in doubt "restart".
When my imac was restarting I heard everything spinning up, the white light came on, but I heard no chime, a blue screen came up for about 15 to 30 sec. and then it went to a black screen with DOS characters giving the following message:
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: <Windows root>\system32\hal.dll. Please re-install a copy of the above file.
I do have a copy of Windows XP, but my first problem was that I still had a CD in the slot and it would not eject. I tried every keyboard combination I could find including: eject button, F12 and holding down the mouse button at start-up and nothing worked. I also tried every other start-up keyboard combination I could find at Apple Support jut to see if I could get my imac to start up under OS X . I finally went on youtube to find out how to remove the CD. I ended up opening up my imac and taking off the cover of the CD drive to remove the disk. After putting everything back together I put in my Windows CD and tried restarting again. The exact same thing happened and I ended up at the DOS screen. Then I thought maybe my keyboard wasn't working so I replaced it with a new one. Same result. I also thought to plug both of my apple keyboards into my windows 8 laptop (hate it!) to see if they worked there at all. They both did so I'm sure the keyboards are not the problem.
At this point, since I do now have a windows 8 laptop (hate it!) there is no remaining reason for me to keep a bootcamp partition on my hard drive. My question is where do I go from here? I have a current time machine back-up on an external hard drive and I have my install CD for OS X Snow Leopard. How do I get my imac back up and running? Thanks.

Can you OPTION boot? If so, then choose the OS X volume to boot back into OS X. From there you can use Boot Camp Assistant to remove the Windows volume and restore the drive.
    Boot Using OPTION key:
      1. Restart the computer.
      2. Immediately after the chime press and hold down the
          "OPTION" key.
      3. Release the key when the boot manager appears.
      4. Select the desired disk icon from which you want to boot.
      5. Click on the arrow button below the icon.
Five ways to eject a stuck CD or DVD from the optical drive
Ejecting the stuck disc can usually be done in one of the following ways:
      1. Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
left mouse button until the disc ejects.
      2. Press the Eject button on your keyboard.
      3. Click on the Eject button in the menubar.
      4. Press COMMAND-E.
      5. If none of the above work try this: Open the Terminal application in
your Utilities folder. At the prompt enter or paste the following:
            /usr/bin/drutil eject
If this fails then try this:
Boot the computer into Single-user Mode. At the prompt enter the same command as used above. To restart the computer enter "reboot" at the prompt without quotes.

How to De-authorize an older PC running Windows 2000 PC with iTunes 7?  My itunes will not connect with the iTunes store to all the deauth request.

The "Deauthorize All" command is only available if iTunes thinks you are currently using 5 authorizations.
Otherwise, you can only deauthorize the old computer by using "Deauthorize this computer" from the computer itself.
If the old computer is no longer operable, you can't deauthorize it, but that is not a problem.

  • Safari doesn't load monitor profiles

I'm using my mac book pro's internal display with an external display connected through mini display port. I calibrated both of them, but safari 4.0 doesn't load the profiles while firefox does. I looked through safari preferences but I found nothing about color management or monitor profiles.
    Any comments would be apprecieated.

Just tested on mine and it's working.

  • OSX doesn't start but XP under bootcamp runs fine

I am having OSX start up problems. I have tried save mode, starting from my Snow leopard DVD, resetting the SMC.
The strange thing is that the Mac HD seems to have disappeared. When I tried to reinstall Snow Leopard the Mac HD wasn't even put forward as an option.
Now it gets stranger as XP works fine under bootcamp, I can see the HD and all files seems to be there. So in effect I now have a Windows Mac...who would have throught
Anybody any suggestions before I spend a bundle on repair ?
    Thanks!

I had the same problem, I don't know about you but I got used to just restarting and holding down the option key to switch between each OS. However, when my mac install 'disappeared' I went into the bootcamp control panel via the windows partition and selected to reboot in mac mode and it worked, even though the alt key restart did not.
So you can try that if you have not already.
There is definitely a larger problem here though, I think a firmware update seems to be needed...

  • Using external mic with iMac 27 i7 under bootcamp with Windows 7

    Hi,
I've recently got myself an iMac 27" with the i7 upgrade. I'm running Windows 7 Professional 32bit for gaming (Snow Leopard for everything else). I have a headset with two 3.5mm plugs, one for the headphones, one for the mic. I can't get the mic to work (headphones work fine though). I plug it into the line in port (as it's the only other port when the headphones are plugged in) but this doesn't work.
Does anyone know how to get this to work?
I read somewhere that the headphone port on the iMac is a "triband" port, so would work with the headphones provided with the iphone that have 3 bands on it (stereo sound and mic) or something similar...

Two things to try, first make sure your Win7 disk is spotlessly clean, my superdrive regularly spits out even slight smudges. then if that doesn't clear it up here is a maintenance tip with the reset:
As old as your iMac is, have you cleaned out the dust? Dust buildup can lead to over heating issues. Remove any and all things plugged into it including the power cord, Remove the RAM access grille. Vacuum all openings starting with the RAM access area (air intake). Vacuum all ports and plugs, DVD slot and the opening across the top of the rear of the body. Blow compressed air through all your openings and vacuum again to remove any dust you loosend. Reinstall the RAM grille. Plug in the keyboard and mouse if not blue tooth. Insert power cord...
You are now in a perfect position to do a
    SMC RESET
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
    Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and ALL peripherals.
    Wait 15 seconds.
    Attach the computers power cable.
Wait another 5 seconds and press the power button to turn on the computer.
It is the 5 second timing that initiates the reset.

  • Photoshop Elements 9 monitor profile is defective in Windows 8.1

I'm using Windows 8.1 and  Photoshop Elements 9.  When I start the program I get the message "The monitor profile [name] appears to be defective.  Please rerun your monitor calibration software."  How do I do this?  Apparently Adobe Gamma is obsolete for this problem.  Also, the forum only talks about Photoshop 6.0-7x and Windows versions prior to 8.1.

Please check if the downloads are the full size, and not somehow truncated.
    PhotoshopElements_9_LS15.exe : 1.16 MB = 1,199 KB = 1,227,128 bytes

  • CPU temperature under Bootcamp with Windows 7

    Hello,
In Windows 7 on Bootcamp (version 4.0), while watching youtube/flash or installing software (e.g. Adobe Acrobat updates), the CPU temperature on my new MBA (MacBookAir4,2 (13") - 1.7/4/256GB) goes pretty high, but ironically the fan speed does not increase to take care of that.
Attached is a screenshot I took using speccy, where we see that the CPU temperature is 94 C, but the fan speed is only 2001 RPM.
However, when I run OS X (Lion), the fan behaves normally and speeds up as necessary to accommodate the increase in CPU temperature.
Has anyone else experienced something like this while using Windows 7 under Bootcamp? And does this behavior seem normal?
    Thanks!
    Screenshot:

    try Lubbo's Fan control.
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/lubbofancontrol/
when you first run it immediately decrease the max fan speed to less than 3000. it's default value is crazy 6000 rpm.

  • Trying to load PSE 12 onto laotop running Windows 7 but it gets as far as installing shared technolgies screen & then stops stating that there is a fault with the shared technologies. It then reweinds

I have been trying to load my photoshop elements edition 12 onto my laptop running windows 7 but it gets as far as the shared technologies screen & stops. It the does a roll back. I have followed the fix guidelines & cleared the 2 relevent files in the common files section of the computer several times but it still never gets past that screen. Can anybody suggest what the compatibility issue might be with widows 7 & elements 12 program?  Any help would be much appreciated, its my last day on the count down to set up. I have been trying every day.

My daughter has had her Razr for about 9 months now.  About two weeks ago she picked up her phone in the morning on her way to school when she noticed two cracks, both starting at the camera lens. One goes completely to the bottom and the other goes sharply to the side. She has never dropped it and me and my husband went over it with a fine tooth comb. We looked under a magnifying glass and could no find any reason for the glass to crack. Not one ding, scratch or bang. Our daughter really takes good care of her stuff, but we still wanted to make sure before we sent it in for repairs. Well we did and we got a reply from Motorola with a picture of the cracks saying this was customer abuse and that it is not covered under warranty. Even though they did not find any physical damage to back it up. Well I e-mailed them back and told them I did a little research and found pages of people having the same problems. Well I did not hear from them until I received a notice from Fed Ex that they were sending the phone back. NOT FIXED!!! I went to look up why and guess what there is no case open any more for the phone. It has been wiped clean. I put in the RMA # it comes back not found, I put in the ID #, the SN# and all comes back not found. Yet a day earlier all the info was there. I know there is a lot more people like me and all of you, but they just don't want to be bothered so they pay to have it fix, just to have it do it again. Unless they have found the problem and only fixing it on a customer pay only set up. I am furious and will not be recommending this phone to anyone. And to think I was considering this phone for my next up grade! NOT!!!!

  • How to install OS X on MBP running Windows 7?

i purchased an early 2011 MBP 13.3. it is running windows 7. i have the OS X installation discs. is there anything i can do to reinstall OS X without getting rid of windows 7? i do not particularly need windows 7, but since it is there, i might as well keep it.

    Hmmmm...
    That's a new one.
When you open Disk Utility, how many partitions does it show?
Does the Windows partition show the whole disk capacity?
If you have two partitions still and the empty one is larger then the WIndows one then you should be able to just reinstall the Mac OS. Just make sure you pick the right partition when the installer ask's you which one.
There are free backup software for the windows side if you want to make sure nothing happens, just Yahoo/Google it. WinClone is out of date and may not work any more so use at your own risk.

  • How to transfer firefox profile from a PC (Windows 7) to iMac (OS X Lion).

    Hello,
I recent purchased an iMac and want to transfer all my bookmarks, settings, cookies, saved passwords and etc from my old PC. The PC is running windows 7 and my iMax is using OS X Lion. I've copied all the Mozilla Folder from my PC onto a USB drive. I've tried to copy all this info on to my iMac, but it doesn't see it. My bookmarks and stuff doesn't appear when I open Firefox on the iMac. Any ideas would be Greatly Appreciate!
    Thanks,
    Dennis

    Hello Dennis,
You may export your firefox bookmarks or back them up from Windows 7 and then you should be able to import those into your Firefox installed on the Mac.
You could also use Firefox sync, that will sync even more than just bookmarks and is probably the easiest method.
Bookmarks — including all tags, keywords, folders, and your custom menu order
    Passwords
Preferences/Options of Firefox (but not of add-ons)
History of sites visited in the last 60 days
    Tabs and tab groups
    See
    * [[backing up and Restoring bookmarks]]
    * [[what is firefox sync?]]
    * and if you are trying to use profile information

  • Can bootcamp run Windows 8 Pro in OSX 10.8.2?

Can Mac OSX Mountain Lion (10.8.2) run "Windows 8 Pro" in Bootcamp? Since Windows 8 Pro has the ability to run program from passed versions of Windows. This way Windows 8 Pro can run Bootcamp, even though it was made for Windows XP/Vista/7 specificly.
I need to know whether it can damage my MAC, or I am able to install Windows 8 Pro.
    Thanks guys.

Windows 8 is not supported by Bootcamp. There are no Bootcamp Windows 8 drivers http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1899

  • Are their still overheating issues with bootcamp running windows 7?

I am wanting to do a little gaming on my mac, but saw plenty of forums pre 2010 about Macs overheating when running windows 7 and even XP. I have a Mid 2012 macbook pro with Intel HD 4000 and a 2.5 Ghz I5 processor, I was wondering if there has been any updates to macs or bootcamp that quells the overheating, and would my mac still be susceptible to this problem?

No changes because the problem is there is no fan control software for Windows that works with the Mac hardware.
