How to load pictures from iPhoto to a thumb drive in the order taken

Im trying to give a copy of pictuces I took on vacation with some friends and want to give them a copy. But every time I load them on a thumb drive they are in a different order when loaded back onto there computer? How do I fix this.

Once the photos are out of iPhoto they will be viewed by the Finder sorted by alphanumerically  name or chronologically by date depending on how the view is setup for the Finder. So here's how to get what you want;
1 - assemble the photos in an album named for the vacation and sort manually.
2 - select the album and use the File ➙ Export ➙ File Export menu option.
3 - Set Kind = Original (if you want the original unedited version) or Currnet (if you want the edited version).
4 - select File Name = Album name with number:
5 - this will give you the files named as Album-01.jpg, Album-02.jpg, etc which will be sorted in that order in the Finder.

Connect the iPad to your MBP and open iTunes.  In the photos section of your iPad in iTunes you can choose selected albums, Events or the entire iPhoto library to sync to your iPad.

Word cannot store pictures - do you mean, how to use the photos in your iPhoto Library in Word documents?
Use the Media Browser in Word - when you select to insert a photo, you can open the Media Browser like this and browse your photo libraries - iPhoto, Aperture, ...
Sorry, my office applications have a german language interface, but the icons should be the same.

To ensure a custom ordering, sort the files in an album and rename the files with a sequentially numbered filename.
    File > Export > Version/Originals
    Then use "Filename > Sequential"
or "Filename > Album name with index"

  • I am having trouble moving files from iPhoto to a thumb drive.  Sometimes I can move 20 photos next time I can only move 2 photos or 0---this is during the same session.  I also have trouble downloading photos to the internet.  Can someone please help?

I am having trouble moving files from iphoto to a thumb drive.  During the same session sometime I can move 10 photos at a time, the next time I can only move one photo and sometime no photos will move.  I also have trouble downloading photos to the internet.  I was using a MacBook Pro and had no problems like this.  I then upgraded to the MacBook Pro with Retina Vision and this is the computer I am having problems with.  Can anyone please give me a suggestion in how to fix this problem. THANK YOU.

iPhoto problems should be posted in their forums.
I also have trouble downloading photos to the internet.
Needs clarification.  You upload from your computer to the internet & download from a website/internet to your computer.  So which are you trying to do?  Either way, sounds like a browser issue.  You need to post in the forum of whichever browser you are using.

  • Exporting Raw files from iPhoto to a thumb drive

I shot some photos in camera Raw with my Canon 40D and uploaded them to iPhoto. When I dragged copies of the Raw image file to the desktop they were converted to Jpeg. When I tried dragging them directly from iPhoto to a thumb drive, the same thing happened -- they got automatically converted from Raw to Jpeg.
How can I move Raw files to the desktop or a thumb drive and keep them Raw?
    Thanks
    Greg

Yes, iPhoto has a RAW converter, it's the same one Aperture uses but with less options. The options are available under the Adjust button in Editing Mode
    2. If I shoot in Raw and import into iPhoto then convert to, say, TIFF, does iPhoto have two image files, one RAW, one TIFF?
Yes because iPhoto always preserves your Original file, no matter what. So, if you save it as a jpeg you also have two image files...

  • Good morning, i would like to know how to take pictures from iphoto and put them in a folder on desktop

Good morning: would like to know how to take pictures from my iphoto and put them in a folder on my desktop

To take photos from iPhoto and put them onto a folder on Desktop, first create a folder on Desktop. Right-click on Desktop and create a new folder.
Then, open iPhoto, and you have two ways to export photos:
    1. Select the photos you want to copy to Desktop with Command key (or go to Edit menu > Select All, if you want to copy all photos), and then, drag them to the folder on Desktop.
    2. Select the photos you want to copy to Desktop with Command key, go to File menu > Export, and follow the steps.
You can choose the one you prefer

  • How do I put pictures from iphoto onto external hard drive

I would like to transfer most of my pictures from iphoto to and external hard drive to free up space.  I was sold a WD elements and said its a plug and play then drag onto drive.  When I try to drap photos to the external drive it won't let me.  Anyone have any suggestions?

This is a brand new drive? Make sure it is formatted so you can read and write from a Mac. (Plug and Play could mean P&P on Windows.)
With the drive connected, run Disk Utility. It's in Applcations / Utilities. Select the drive (on the left) reformat it. This will erasse everything on the drive - but I assume it is empty since you could not write to it.

  • How to load pictures from a camera onto iPad mini with retina display

Any tips on how to upload pictures from a camera onto my iPad mini with retina display (besides emailing them)? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

If your camera pictures are stored on an SD Card you could purchase a lightning to SD Card adapter..
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD822ZM/A/lightning-to-sd-card-camera-reader?f ind=Sd+lightning
You could also get the pix to your computer then copy them to an SD Card, if your computer sports an SD Card reader.
Then use the lightning to SD Card reader..
Lots of cameras use SD Card for storage, mine does..

  • How to transfer pictures from laptop to external hard drive

have multiple events in i-photo and need to transfer to external hard drive have watched tutorials and followed directions only to see an error (null) message
    Any ideas?

well if you are trying to transfer/copy only the events from iphoto to an external drive, and not the entire iPhoto library, all you have to do is select the entire events, or the photos you wan to transfer/copy (select the 1st one, press shift and select the last one) and drag onto the icon of the external hard drive. It might be best to create a an empty folder onto the external.  (command+shift+N)  Once the empty folder has been created, open it on a separate window, and drag the photos into/over the open folder and you will see the green circle with a "+" inside it, which indicate that you will be copying, and not transfering. Et voila! As Gitse said above, it's pretty simple.

  • How to Export pictures from iPhoto to external hard disk? Newbie here! Please help!

Need your help guys. Just bought a new Macbook Pro. Loved using the iPhoto but after managing a lot of my photos, realised that I cannot export an edited photo from iphoto to my external hard disk. I am not sure what iphoto version I am running right now but my Mac is brand new and comes with the pre installed softwares. Whenever I try to export an event, folder or even a picture, I will get this message   unable to create/Volumes/FreeAgentDrive/ after going thru the Export process in iphoto. Please help!!!

Your Mac can "read" data from an NTFS drive, but can't "write" files to it.
If you intend to use this drive only on Mac computers, then, use Disk Utility to erase it and format for Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
If you want to be able to write files to the external drive AND still use it with Microsoft Windows computers, then, format it as MS DOS. (Or, on a Microsoft Windows computer, format the drive as Fat32. However, if you use Windows XP, be aware that the largest size you can do this with is 32Gb. Vista and Windows 7 doesn't have this limit.)
Another option, do you have to use an external hard drive? What about a flash drive?

  • How to export photos from iPhoto to external hard drive keeping Events structure (files and titles)

    Hello!
I’ve been looking for a Automator application that does this for quite a while now.
Basically I want to have an Automator application that saves a copy of my iPhoto pictures in a folder, inside Finder. Like a backup. Later on, I can save those “folders and files” on my external hard drive.
What I want it to do is this:
    1) Export photos from a selected Album or Event on iPhoto. Using as title: “Event name” – “number” (I mean the number of the file: 1, 2, 3 …)
    2) Save them in a folder in Finder that I want.
    3) Organize the photos in different folders, the same way they are in iPhoto.
The idea I had, was that it would do this automatically every time I launch iPhoto, as if it was synchronizing the photos into that folder.
And then, every time I connect my hard drive, it copies these “real” folders into my hard drive.
Is that possible? If yes, could you help me creating it, or tell me how I can do so myself, or where to download something like it?
Thank you a lot! Kind regards,
    xanacarfran2008

Is this waht you want to do?
It's built into the File Export function of iPhoto 9 (11).  Select what every photos you want and use that option to put each photo in a folder with the Event title it came from as in this test of six randomly picked photos:
