i downloaded driver genius because i had downgraded fom vista and the drivers were hard to find. anyways driver genius loaded the wrong video driver and it initiated the blue screen error message"page_fault_in_non_page_area
0x00000050 (oxf7b44703, 0x00000000, ox807e9854). so a friend of my looked at it and said that i needed to erase that os and it partition and reformat the hard drive and create a new partition and re-load my os onto it.well after he had erased thewpartition & os he began to format the hard drive with ms-dos on an external floppy about 1/4 of the way thru my laptop batteries went dead. now when i try to re-load the os it goes bavck to the previous os's drivers and i end up with the same blue screen error message before installation even starts. how do i fix this????????????PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

The first time I backed up my iTunes on an external drive, it took a 1 hour +. Do I basically need to start over on my external hard drive? Or is there an easier/faster way?

Trash the copy of the library you just moved. Then Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
But do you want to have two iPhoto Libraries? Why not just use the one on the External?

You would need to go to the computer containing the book.
Select the saved book in the Collection panel.
Go to Grid View [ G ] and select all the images [Cmd/Ctrl][A]
File>Export as Catalog and store on media you can use to transfer
Bring this catalog onto your computer
File>Import from another catalog and bring the transitory catalog into your master catalog.
It should bring the images, your collections (including your book) and other settings into your own catalog.

The easy way is from the backup you make of your computer so in case something happens you don't lose anything.

Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings: Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive. Open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option (alt) key (shift on Windows), then guide it to the new location of the library.

aparantly I know heard you can only use it for one or the other

You can use it as both. In your Finder, it should appear as a networked drive in the left panel. Mount it and you'll be able to copy files to and from it, as well as delete them. And you'll still be able to use it as a Time Machine backup disk. You'll have to enable file sharing in your AirPort Utility under Disks first if it isn't already enabled. This is going from memory so there may be a few discrepancies. If anybody can correct this, please do.
You can't partition the drive though, so if you're going to use 500 GB for backup and 500 GB for other things, you'll have to manually monitor how much space is being used by the backup.
