How to load windows 8 on Imac 2008

Hi i am having trouble loading windows 8 on mac as apparently the system Imac 2008 ie too old. I had successfylly loaded it and upgraded from xp but mac support recommended i delete the partition as i also had the old operating system. Problem now that i have deleted the partition i can now longer load windows 8. Worked perfeclty before but like an idiot i listened to mac support. any ideas on how i can reload.

Windows 8 is not supported on 2008 iMac. No drivers.

I don't think you can do it without a shutdown. This also depends on the types of services, roles etc hosted on the server.

    What are your pressing ......
    Command-R is recovery
Option(alt) is the boot manager, and if you did press option you appear to have toasted your OSX partition.
Reboot, hold the OPTION key and tell us what is listed

The boss has VMFusion and needs to load it on his iMac, I've never done this so need a 101.

No. VMware Fusion uses virtual hard drive image files. Windows (or whatever) guest OS you are installing mounts and uses these image files as if they are real hard drives. The image files are store on your Mac's hard drive volume, like any other file (except they tend to be bigger than most files). Setting up these image files is part of the wizard for adding a new virtual machine.
So there are no separate partitions being used, unless you want to install the guest OS on a separate partition. You can use VMware Fusion that way, but it is far more flexible to use the hard drive image files. For one thing, using the image files, you can install as many virtual machines as you want, limited only by the Mac's storage capacity. So you can have one for Windows XP, one for Windows 7, one for Ubuntu Linux, etc.

  • How to install windows on an iMac

I would like to add windows to my Imac but cannor find any helpful info on the apple site. I would welcome any help as I am new to Apple. I have the new IMac.

You can use Boot Camp if you want your Mac to run Windows natively, which will require you to reboot the Mac each time you wish to switch:
    http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/
Or you can use one of the virtualization solutions - Parallels Desktop, VMWare Fusion, or VirtualBox - and run Windows in a virtual machine within Mac OS X. The latter is more convenient, the former will give you better performance.
Either route will require you to have a Windows installation disk and a valid Windows license.
    Regards.

  • Somebody can help me how to install windows in my imac

Somebody can help me how to install windows in my imac

    Windows on Intel Macs
There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
         1. Install the Apple Boot Camp software.  Purchase Windows
XP w/Service Pak2, Vista, or Windows 7.  For Boot Camp
4.0 and above you can only use Windows 7 or later. Follow
instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on
installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and
installing Windows.  Boot Camp enables you to boot the
computer into OS X or Windows.
         2. Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business,
Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  Parallels is software
virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently
             with OS X.
         3. VM Fusion and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate,
or Windows 7.  VM Fusion is software virtualization that
enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
         4. CrossOver which enables running many Windows
applications without having to install Windows.  The
Windows applications can run concurrently with OS X.
         5. VirtualBox is an Open Source freeware virtual machine such
as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris.
It is not as fully developed for the Mac as Parallels and VM
             Fusion.
Note that VirtualBox, Parallels, and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc.  There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization.  The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. See MacTech Labs- Virtualization Benchmarks, January 2013 | MacTech for comparisons of Boot Camp, Parallels, and VM Fusion. Boot Camp is only available with Leopard or Snow Leopard. Except for Crossover and a couple of similar alternatives like DarWine you must have a valid installer disc for Windows.
You must also have an internal optical drive for installing Windows. Windows cannot be installed from an external optical drive.

  • How to install windows 7 on Imac late 2009 using Vmware/Vbox

Hey guys. Here's the thing. I've installed Windows 8 on my imac late 2009 but then i realized that there's no bootcamp drivers for it (check image).
everything works fine except for the video drivers that crash everytime when i install any driver (bootcamp or manually).
So I've searched on many forums n i found a guy that could do that by using Vmware/Virtualbox by accessing the full disk n installing it from there.
    Here's what we wrote -> (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1526883)
"Thanks for the suggestions, but installing from usb wasn't working, and refit didn't recognise the external dvd drive too (it was in the list, but when i tried to load it i got an error).
But i found a solution, not usual procedure but still good and easy to do.
I installed virtualbox, created a virtual machine with the full disk access (you'll have to unmount all the partitions first and run virtualbox as root), started installing windows, when the copy of the files ended and the vm was rebooting i simply closed it and rebooted my imac and finished the installation directly on the imac, everything went well...
    Thanks again for the help"
    Important notes :
    - My superdrive is broken
    - I can't boot efi windows 7 (cause it needs efi 2.0)
    So i might ask u 2 things..
1- Is there a way that i can install all those drivers on windows 8.
2- Can u describe how he did that with Vmware/Virtualbox?

I can't. Just like i said. My superdrive is broken so the only way is to boot from usb but my imac's efi firmware is 1.0 and to boot a windows 7 efi you must have at least efi firmware 2.0. I managed to install windows 8 cause it needed efi firmware 1.0 that's why.

how could i load videos from my windows media player to my itouch .pls help me

One way is by placing the videos in the Movie category of your iTunes libray and check the box in iTunes that says sync videos.  As roaminggnome said, the videos have to be in a format compatible with the iPod.  See:

  • How to remove windows from my imac?

He there,  How do i remove windows completely from my imac? I really want to wipe it out and let my imac run independently. Thanks

Thanks guys. The " Application folder and utilities " mentioned sounds familiar. Not everybody can memorize all the commands, you know. And again, tension and frustration can make one to forget what you already knew. The windows is frustrating. Anyways, thanks to both of you.

  • How to install windows 8 on iMac computer

    hi there
How do I "install" win 8 on my iMac? The options given are only "setup.exe" on the original disk.

You go to the Apple Support @ http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1461 and follow the instructions posted by Apple.  If you have problems you contact Apple Support for assistance.
Apple Boot Camp is not a Microsoft product.  It is an Apple product and Apple has sole responsibility for support of their products.

i read the apple statement about my macbook pro not being compatible with it.
is it because of the hardware or just the leopard software?
Can i upgrade my leopard to snow leopard and then be able to install windows 7 on it?
Just want to know if spending $ 30 on leopard upgrade is worth it since i will do it just to run windows 7.

  • How to load Windows in MacBook Pro

Once the MacBook Pro was initiated as iOS or maverick os can a windows os be loaded?

If you want to be able to run Windows programs at the same time as Mac programs, install virtualization software like Parallels Desktop, VMWare Fusion, or VirtualBox, and then install Windows in that.
If you want to run the entire Mac as a Windows PC (you choose whether to start up the computer into either OS X or Windows), use Apple Boot Camp.
    Both work well.

  • How to load Windows XP on a Macbook running 10.8.2

I have a white MB running 10.8.2 and want to run Windows XP in a second partition on the internal drive.  Bootcamp assistant would not run without Windows 7.  I manually repartitioned the disk to create a Windows partition (formatted at FAT32) and installed Windows XP.  Only the video and bluetooth seem to have effective drivers. When I downloaded Bootcamp update 2.1/2.2 and try to run them after installing WINXP, they appear to run, but nothing happens.  Most of the devices (sound, ethernet, wireless, etc...) are inoperative.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You can run XP from a virtual machine as pointed out by GeekBoy.

  • I've made my bootable disk for mountain lion but when I try to load it on my imac 2008 I get a message that I need 2g of memory. Am I trying to load it incorrectly?

The screen is frozen and i don't know what to do.

As shldr said, OS X Mountain Lion needs 2 GB of memory or more. If you see a message telling you that you need 2 GB or more of memory, that's because you have less memory than 2 GB on the computer.
You have to buy more memory for your computer, and I recommend you to buy it in OWC or Crucial > http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/apple/memory/iMac
