How to load Windows XP on a Macbook running 10.8.2

I have a white MB running 10.8.2 and want to run Windows XP in a second partition on the internal drive.  Bootcamp assistant would not run without Windows 7.  I manually repartitioned the disk to create a Windows partition (formatted at FAT32) and installed Windows XP.  Only the video and bluetooth seem to have effective drivers. When I downloaded Bootcamp update 2.1/2.2 and try to run them after installing WINXP, they appear to run, but nothing happens.  Most of the devices (sound, ethernet, wireless, etc...) are inoperative.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Ray

You can run XP from a virtual machine as pointed out by GeekBoy.

  • How to install windows 7 on Old Macbook Pro 15'inch 2.3 Core 2 Duo

How to install windows 7 on Old Macbook Pro 15'inch 2.3 Core 2 Duo:
I want to known how to install windows 7 on Old Macbook 15'inch 2.3 Core 2 Duo by using usb
I try many time, but after restart bootcamp partition, apple show blinking folder error
I think this firmware not support to install windows by usb
    NOTE:
I Cannot install Apple New OSX Mountain Lion, Mavericks etc in this MAC
If I cannot install windows 7 on this MAC, so tell me what I will do with this MAC  ?

I agree with the optical drive, mine acted strange, and i thought people were crazy and my drive was shot, but a simple cleaning disc worked miracles.
But- are you trying to reboot with both the USB install and the DVD install both plugged in?  that would definitely cause confusion.
Do this, reboot with NOTHING plugged in.  Once you hear the Mac chime, immediately press and hold option.
You should only see the Mac HD, and Recovery Partition.
THEN plug in your external DVD, and wait a min or two, you should see a disc icon appear next to the recovery partition that says something like windows.  If that doesnt appear after a min or two, unplug it and put the USB stick and do the same thing.  I had to do it this way on my mid 09 MBP.
Let me know if this works to start the install.  If not we may have to start over with Bootcamp Assistant

  • Is it worthwhile to load windows 7 onto my MacBook Air? Will it slow down my computer?

Is it worthwhile to load windows 7 onto my MacBook Air? Will it slow down my computer? What might be the benefits of having windows and mavericks as two different operating systems side by side?

Check out this article first. It deals with BootCamp vs Parallels Desktop but there are two other products: VMWare Fusion and VirtualBox that offer the same basic features as Parallels. So your first decision is which you prefer. As I said, I chose virtualization: Parallels Desktop in particular.
You need a full retail version of Windows - If you live in the States try New Egg for the best price. This is what I bought. You'll need it whether you choose BootCamp or virtualization. Note that Win7 apparently isn't available via download from Microsoft any longer, only Win8 so you'll need access to an external optical drive or use remote dvd sharing with your Windows computer. I've not tried installing Windows using remote DVD sharing but I have installed other software that way so I'd expect it to work if you choose virtualization. If you choose BootCamp you'll need access to an external optical drive or create an ISO image of Windows on a large flash disk.

  • Can I get rid of a windows partition on a MacBook running 10.4.11 without having bootcamp or bootcamp beta?

Can I get rid of a windows partition on a MacBook running 10.4.11 without having bootcamp or bootcamp beta? If so, how?

Yes, I think so, as would Snow Leopard probably. If your computer meets the requirements it would only cost $29 to buy Snow Leopard versus $129 for Leopard.
    Snow Leopard General requirements
Mac computer with an Intel processor
    1GB of memory
    5GB of available disk space
    DVD drive for installation
Some features require a compatible Internet service provider; fees may apply.
Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and terms apply.
    Leopard System requirements
You must have a Macintosh computer with:
an Intel processor or a PowerPC G4 (867 MHz or faster) or G5 processor
    a DVD drive >built-in FireWire
at least 512 MB of RAM (additional RAM is recommended for development purposes)
a built-in display or a display connected to an Apple-supplied video card supported by your computer
at least 9 GB of disk space available, or 12 GB of disk space if you install the developer tools

  • Just loaded windows 7 on a macbook pro - how do you dual boot OS X and windows 7

Hi successfully loaded windows 7 and partitioned drive (I need windows for work Microsoft crm system)
All ok but a pain to have to keep logging off and on between OS X & Windows
I understand that there is a way to dual boot - I am running Snow Leopard on a macbook pro lap top OS x 10.6.7
    Can anyone help please
    Ian

You can install Parallels or Fusion, either will work. When you setup either Parallels or fusion you can tell it to use your already installed Boot Camp installation of Windows as its target guest operating system.
You would then just boot into OSx, start your VM (Parallels or Fusion), then you'll have access to both OSx and Windows without having to reboot.
I have this setup and two monitors. I have my Windows running on my external monitor and OSx running on my Macbook Pro monitor at the same time.
Beware that you will need to re-register Windows to get a second key. This is free and easily done either online or by calling the Microsoft registration number. The reason for needing a second key is that Windows, although only installed once in your Boot Camp partition sees the virtual hardware created by your virtual machine and thinks it has been reinstalled on a new computer.

  • How to install Windows 7 on a MacBook Air?

    Hi everybody,
I am sorry in case this has been covered before, but i couldnt find anything searching different categgories here, so i´d appreciate some help.
I have got a late 2011 MacBook Air with lots of SSD and so on and i want to install windows 7.
I bought a wndows 7 OEM DVD (actually, two discs, one says support software)
I have tried to run bootcamp and follow the instructions, but to now end.
on my macbook air, i get the option "create a windows 7 disc" or something like that (the first option), which doesnt help me because i dont have optical drive
when i start boot camp on my iMac, this option will be greyed out.
Also, I have tried to to ISO copys of the windows DVD and save them to a USB stick but i just wouldnt come to any result.
does anybody have a good, comprehensive instruction on how to install windows 7 on an MBA withou optical drive?
Also, is 30GB OK for Win 7 if you basically dont wanna do to much in windows (no office etc, just some small clients)
    thanks!

30GB is not enough, especially on an SSD. Normally 50-60GB and with SSD I'd go with 80-90GB.
http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp faq, how to, special instructions for Air
There is a program to create DVD from ISO or .exe
Apple Boot CAmp Assistant should have prompted to save a driver for you to support a USB-DVD, in addition to the normal Apple B.C. drivers you save to flash card.
Disk Utility is not a good method for burning Windows DVDs.

  • How to load Windows in MacBook Pro

Once the MacBook Pro was initiated as iOS or maverick os can a windows os be loaded?

If you want to be able to run Windows programs at the same time as Mac programs, install virtualization software like Parallels Desktop, VMWare Fusion, or VirtualBox, and then install Windows in that.
If you want to run the entire Mac as a Windows PC (you choose whether to start up the computer into either OS X or Windows), use Apple Boot Camp.
    Both work well.

  • Just bought a new MacBook pro to replace my old PC.  I have LR 4 on disk and LR 5 upgrade on disk and need to know how to load LR on my new Macbook Pro.  Also how do I transfer photos?

I'm not very good with computers and need help.  My LR 4 and LR 5 upgrade are on disk but my new MacBook Pro doesn't use disk.  How do I load LR on my new computer?  Also, how do I get the photos from LR on my old computer to the new computer?

You can download Lightroom thru the link(s) below.  If you only want to install the version 5 upgrade you do not need to install 4 first - you likely just need to provide the serial number for it when you activate 5.
    Lightroom - all versions

    Mac

As far as transferring photos goes, that is something you might get help for in the Photoshop Lightroom forum.  But you could wait here and see if anyone knows, or you could search Google and probably find out how.

  • How to Install Windows 8.1 on MacBook Pro with Retina Display Using Boot Camp?

    Hello,
I own a MacBook Pro with Retina Display and was wondering how do I install Windows 8.1 without an optical disc drive? I have bought the full version of Windows 8.1 and would like to partition it on my MacBook Pro. Could someone please help me out by posting step-by-step procedure or a video on how to do it? It is my first time partitioning the Windows operating system and would like to clarify with the community on this before I install it.
Thanks in advance for those who have helped!

Windows 8.1 is not yet supported by Boot Camp. The best way currently to install Windows 8.1 is to use a virtual machine like Parallels, Fusion, or VirtualBox. Installation instructions are on the Parallels, Fusion, and VirtualBox site.

how could i load videos from my windows media player to my itouch .pls help me

One way is by placing the videos in the Movie category of your iTunes libray and check the box in iTunes that says sync videos.  As roaminggnome said, the videos have to be in a format compatible with the iPod.  See:
