How to Locate and Extract Photos

I have several old hard drives. Many of which include many images that are located in many subfolders. If I were to scan the hard drive lightroom does a great job of identifying images. But how to I move all those images to one consolidated locating eg /images.
Thank you!

Import the images from all the drives into Lightroom. Then in Lightroom, drag images where you want.
That said, keep the folder structure simple and don't try to use folders to categorise your photos. Use keywords instead.

I can see a preview of the photos, but I cannot access or edit them.  They say "the folder cannot be located" and "the photo is missing".  I have gone through multiple Adobe tutorials to try and recover them to no avail.  Any tips?

Backup catalogs wouldn't have helped with this problem anyway, but naturally, you shouldn't delete backup catalogs for a while.

  • Added movie (already converted to mp4 format) to iTunes library in my PC, syncronized to iPad2, now how to locate and play it in iPad2?

Added movie (already converted to mp4 format) to iTunes library in my PC, syncronized to iPad2, now how to locate and play it in iPad2?

On your computer's iTunes if you select that video and do 'get info' (control-I), then on the popup on the Options tab change it's 'Kind' to 'Movie' from 'Home Video'.
To sync it to your iPad, connect the iPad and select it on the left-hand sidebar of your computer's iTunes (if you have iTunes 11 on your computer then you can enable the sidebar via option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC), and then on the right-hand side use the Movies/Films tab to select and sync it to the iPad's Videos app.

  • How to locate and restore my music file?

How can i locate and restore my itune music all at once?

If the entire library, including the database files, is on the external drive, launch iTunes with the Shift key held down and choose it. If not, drag the media into the open iTunes application window or the Automatically Add to iTunes folder.

  • How to compress and extract files & databases from current BC site?

    Hello All -
It's been a good run with BC, but we're under new management and are starting over with a different CMS.    I would like to extract all data from the current site (text from all pages, images, pdfs, etc from media library, information from customers).  I know how to export customer reports, but is there a way to compress and extract everything in a comprehensive way?
Thanks so much - any help would be much appreciated!
Also... need to do this ASAP...

    Hi,
Unfortunately it's not a comprehensive as you may be hoping.  You'll need to export everything using the existing tools mentioned in the article below.  It's similar concept of migration one site to another.

I'm afraid there's no automated feature for this at the moment.

Is there anyway to label Faces, assign the location to a photo and use the photo editing features all at once?
When I import new photos, I want to sort through, edit and organize them once. But there doesn't seem to be a way to do this. Any tips for ways to speed this clumsy workflow up?

  • How to remove and desktops photos

I use snow leopard. When I go to preferences - desktop, and find apple-iphoto-folders-pictures on the left hand side. My desktop pictures are located in the pictures folder. I would like to delete some of these, and add others from a file located on the desktop. Can someone explain to me how to do this?

What I do is create a special folder for Desktop Pictures in my Pictures folder, with sub-folders in that containing copies of different types of desktop picture themes.
I have over 650 very nice scenic desktop pictures that is unnecessary to have duplicates in iPhoto.
Also I don't want all of my iPhoto's as a desktop, just a few selected ones, so I created a personal folder for that in the Desktop Pictures folder and placed copies from iPhoto in there.
Then I point System Preferences > Desktop to add "+" or remove "-" those folders to the selection of choices in Desktop pictures (it doesn't add or delete the photo's themselves)
Then I select a folder of photo's that way and set the rotation cycle.
I had a incident once there iPhoto glitch displayed a persona pic as a desktop background and caused me some embarassement with a client.
So now I keep iPhoto the heck out of choosing what's displayed on the screen unless I specifically call for it.

  • HT4736 Taking too long (2 minutes) to locate and download photos into Photo '11 9.5 (902.7 build running on an older Intel based MacBook Pro with iPhoto libraries on a USB2 External HD).  I checked and repaired HD permissions. Any ideas?

Regarding iPhoto '11 9.5 (902.7 build running on an older Intel based MacBook Pro with iPhoto libraries on a USB2 External HD).  I am dealing with iPhoto taking too long to download photos.  Specifically, I rechecked and repaired HD permissions. I am running the most current software my five year old Intel MacBook Pro can run.   What happens is that when I connect an external SD card, or my iPhone, the new version of iPhoto takes up to two full minutes to fully acknowledge the device. Then locate new photos and be ready to download them to my external HD.  I am kind of concerned about this.  This has never happened before.
I take 20,000 photos a year.  I really don't want to lose any.  Or is there something I am doing wrong?  Or need to be aware of?  Any experienced suggestions would be appreciated.  Thanks.  Have a great day.
PS.... The cameras I use are Canon SX-30, Nikon D3100, and my iPhone 4S.  Thanks again for your assistance.

Hello Old Toad.... Those sound like great ideas.
I thought I checked and repaired disk permissions on my main boot HD.  That boot disk is Mac OS Extended (Journaled)  Capacity 749.3 GB.  Available 562.53 GB.   BUT.... now that I think of it.... the Seagate external HD with USB2 interface is: Mac OS Extended (Journaled), Capacity 639.79 GB, Available 36.2 GB with my latest iPhoto Library 517.37 GB that was already scanned & updated to be read by the latest iPhoto version.
I'll try your suggestions tonight as far as double checking 'permissions' and setting up a tiny test library.
Or maybe it's time to fill up another External HD?
I appreciate your and anyone else's suggestions to try.
Have a great day. ~~ David in Rochester NY

  • How to locate and use files in Bridge

A great deal of my photos were imported into my iMac using iPhoto and they seem to reside in the iPhoto database/library.  When I try to browse them in Bridge CS4 the iPhoto directory appears but when I click on it iPhoto opens and that's the only way to see the files, though I AM able to open them in PS CS4!  How can this be corrected?

Easiest way is to go to user / pictures and select iPhoto library. Use right
mouse click and from the drop down menu choose show package content. In this
window go to the folder originals and copy the folder(s) that show here
(usual folders with years showing) to a new folder on your HD.
If you choose copy you will double the size of the existing originals on
your HD but then you are still able to use iPhoto for editing etc. If you
have no longer need for that you can choose move without copy to save disk
    space if needed.
Point Bridge to the new folder and use the menu tools / cache build and
export cache. This will cache your folder including all the subfolders.
Let it do its job and then you can work with the files as normal with
reorder by moving them to other folders or rate or what ever you want.
When I try to browse them in Bridge CS4 the iPhoto directory appears but when
I click on it iPhoto opens and that's the only way to see the files, though I
AM able to open them in PS CS4!  How can this be corrected?

  • Lost Files -- How to Locate and Update iTunes

I re-organized about 450 of my iTunes files and now get erorr messages that iTunes cannot locate the files.  I can then find them, manyually one by one.  Is there any way to automate this painful process?

They will only be where you put them.  You buy one download only.  It is your responsibility to move/copy/backup your purchases.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup copy ( not good), then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod:  Without syncing:  File>Transfer Purchases
Unlike music, you can redownload apps:

  • When trying to download & install Firefox 5.0.1 into a Mac, I get a message saying that Firefox cannot be installed because libnsscksi.dylib is in use. Any idea how to locate and close that file? Finder does not recognize it. Thanks!

Tried to install both Firefox 5.0 and 5.0.1, and received the same error message that a file ending in .dylib was in use. I cannot locate that file, and Finder does not recognize it.

I have a Power PC Mac with OS 10.5.8 and Firefox 3.6.28, the latest versions supported on my machine, and all of my plug-ins are the latest versions available for that browser version. I too get the warning message all the time and it is very annoying. I have never had any "security" problems, and I don't go along with this imperative to always be upgrading equipment. Don't these corporate geeks understand that we're in a global economic contraction and a lot of us are unemployed/underemployed? They want us to be good consumers and "switch to a newer computer" but I can't afford that. Like, if I can't fix my old car, I won't be able to drive. What I want to know is: '''how to disable the warning message?''' Thank you in advance.

  • How to locate and configure SSL cipher suites

    hi all,
i wanted to knw how Ciphersuites that are used in SSL Connections are picked up by the JVM or whoever is responsible for establishing the connection at lower level. I mean there are methods in SSLSocketFactory, HttpsURLConnection named getEnabledCipherSuites(). I was just wondering where these default cipher suites are picked up. Is there any configuration file or some setting where we can add our own cipher suite to the list?
    Please advice.
    Thanks in advance :)
    Arun

    hi,
As already we have discussed this, we can set the ciphersuite used in the SSLConnection using SSLSocket.setEnabledCIpherSuite() function only. And getSupportedCipherSuites() function returns the list of cipher suites that are supported by the connection.
But i want to set ciphersuite in SSLConnection using HttpsURLConnection. Under this class (HttpsURLConnection) there is no such method where u can specify the ciphersuite.
So i am trying to find out when an SSL connection is setup from where does the JVM loads the cipher suites? I checked the All the basic classes in javax.net.ssl package and all contain the methods as abstract. So if anybody has any idea regarding where these supported cipher suites are located in jdk please let me knw.
    Thanks in advance :)

2nd question would be for my vidios that i have in my itunes libary. How do i delete them.
Hope someone can help this ipod newbie out. I really wanna know how to do all the cool stuff iv been reading about.
    Thanks
PC   Windows 2000   Its Fackin Old

On a PC i'm not sure about photo organization. are your photos in some type of different folders? You can have iTunes sync them according to folder i believe.
As for your second question you should be able to just click on the video and hit the "delete" key and it will ask you if you want to delete it. You should also be able to right click and delete it as well.
