How to lock Menubar-Items

I want to restrict some of my Applications for special Users. For example I need to delete, lock or make unusable some functions like the "Add new Music"-Thing in the menu of iTunes.
In some applications menus are kind of "grey" and unclickable in several situations. Is it possible to modify these attributes somewhere?

Have you tried using Parental Controls for other Users in the Accounts Pref Pane?
I'm not positive, but I don't think you can modify just individual functions within an APP to any great degree.

Not a keyboard shortcut, but a mouse one from another post.
Launch “Keychain Access” located in /Applications/Utilities/
From the ‘Keychain Access’ menu, open Preferences
Select the checkbox next to “Show Status in Menu Bar”
Now that the lock menubar item is enabled, you’ll find a little lock icon in your menu bar. Once the menu item is enabled, just click on the lock icon and select “Lock Screen” to immediately lock your Mac OS X desktop.
Now a keyboard method.
If you have your security preferences set to require a password after sleep or screen saver begins (System Preferences > Security) then you can use the power button, then type "s" to turn sleep the system. It won't start the screen saver, but the display will go dark and you will need to enter your password to wake it up. I've found it takes a short time though to actually enter a password required sleep. If you wake right away, then no password is needed.

How to go for print preview option for locked/blocked items in PO.

Dear all,
Can we view PO even all the line items or some items in that PO are locked or blocked, by clicking Print preview button. If not by that button, is there any other way to view locked/blocked items in Print Preview format.
Can anybody suggest me on this ?

Its not possible to see the line item in the print preview if it is blocked...
You can only display in the PO only...why do you need Print preview of blocked items??

You can check these locked details in the EKKO and EKPO table in the SE16 tcode for the respective PO and can also download the details if req. from the same table..

How can I lock an item on the form?

I have a master-detail form, I wanted to lock an item on the detail block of the form which means this item can be seen but can't be changed on the form.
I configured the Query Only, Query Allowed, Insert Allowed, Update Allowed as NO in the property palette of this item. However, when I run the form, if I try to change the value of this item, it doesn't allow me, but it also won't let me go to next record and it just stop at the record I try to make the change. Any suggestion would be really appreciated.

Setting the properties "insert allowed" and "update allowed" will allow the item to display queried values. Allow the user to click in the field and copy values. But will not allow the user to change the value.
You can can do the above for the whole item in your detail block using set_item_property or just at the record level with set_item_instance_property.
Setting enabled to "No" is a little drastic. I dont use it that much. I think it also makes the text gray and hard to read.
What is probably stopping you from going to the next record is that you have the "required" property set to "yes".
I dont ever set the required property to yes anymore in my forms. I write all my field validation in one program unit and call it from pre-insert and pre-update. This allows the user to freely navigate througout the form and field values are typically only checked when they press save. Not always, but mostly.

There are several ways
     - Selecting the event and hitting the "delete" key on your keyboard (as Wayne Contello said)
     - Selecting the event and opening the "edit" dropdown menubar item, and then selecting "delete"
     - Selecting the event and right clicking, then selecting "cut" (this option puts the event on your clipboard)

Dissapearing Menubar Items

Hi all
My Wife and I have a seperate account each on my Mac. We have both been having this problem for a couple of months now. Every now and then if we Restart or Log out/in again our menubar items such as the time, Bluetooth, Keychain screen lock, Display resolution etc, etc, dissapear without any obvious cause. We have to go into Sys Prefs etc. and switch on the various options again to get the items back again. Can anyone throw any light on what might be causing this?

In addition to Michael's suggestions:
1. Did you install a hacked version of Front Row on the Mac in question? If so, see my "Uninstalling the Front Row hack" FAQ.
2. If you have any third-party menu bar extras installed — the icons on the right side of the menu bar other than the Spotlight icon — then one of these may be problematic. Often they're launched as Startup or Login items. If an errant Startup or Login Item is the cause, my "Troubleshooting Startup and Login Items" FAQ can help you pin that down if such an item is causing the problem. Or can that checkbox 'keep tool selected' be made a permanent toolbar item?
I use the rubber stamp tool several times on multiple pages in certain pdfs and found that if I open the 'properties bar', I can select 'keep tool selected' and stamp away as much as I like without having to choose the stamp tool dropdown menu and select 'custom' each time I stamp. I appreciate the recent update that added a recently stamped stamps area and not having to click 'proceed' each time.

You can't lock the Properties Bar, but you also don't need to in order to make the Stamp tool remain selected.
Just right-click it in the Comment menu on the right and select "Keep Tool Selected".

Missing menubar items...

Since installing SL, the menubar items in the upper right corner of the screen have disappeared. No shortcuts to volume, power, airport, bluetooth, spotlight, date & time...nothing. occasionally they reappear, but mousing over them just gives me the beachball. i've upgraded to 10.6.1, and done a permissions repair. no change
i've also tried selecting those options in System Preferences, and that application slowed way down whenever i try to select or deselect options for that part of the menubar (like having time & date show).
Also, the keyboard shortcuts for screenshots doesn't work. Grrr... i know they stripped this OS down, but seriously!
anyone have any similar problems/advice on how to proceed?

I retract all my grumpy declarations!
it was related to a 3rd party menubar item! specifically, iStat...i had deleted the application to see if that was the problem before reading Barney's response. but then i read the proper way to uninstall at their site. i had to reinstall cause there wasn't a preference pane anymore, but now the menubar is back in effect and screenshots work again. yay...

How to Lock Form

Dear Members,
How to Lock a Form if two Users are working at the same time on that form.
I need to put a Lock if the form is used by another User and Release the Lock only when the User using it closes the form.
How can we achieve this in Oracle Forms 6i. we are on 11.5.10.2.

Using Locking Mode will not stop the issue of one user being told that the record is locked by another. I'm not sure about For Update but one thing it certainly won't do is prevent 2 users inserting the same record, so one user could get an error to say the record already exists, when they commit. Anyway, what happens to the For Update lock when the form is committed?
[Dbms_Lock|http://www.psoug.org/reference/dbms_lock.html] can be used to solve the problem with the following process.
Create a new package variable, control block item or global to store a "lock handle" (varchar2(200)).
When a record is selected in the master block, attempt to release the lock for the stored "lock handle" using dbms_lock.release(lock_handle). Ignore the function's return value (except when developing/debugging!).
Now create a new lock handle using dbms_lock.allocate_unique(lock_name, lock_handle). The lock_name should be a function of the master record's primary key so that it is unique to the record. Store the lock handle in the new variable.
Reuest a lock for the new lock handle, using dbms_lock.request(lock_handle). If the function returns 0 then you have been granted the lock, otherwise you have not.
If you do not have the lock then you need to disable inserts, updates and deletes in the child block. It's nice to set the field backgrounds to grey as well. If you do have the lock then the block should be enabled and the field backgrounds returned to their original colour.
In post-form, release the lock whose handle is stored in the lock_handle variable.

Stop bluetooth menubar item from appearing?

When the battery on my mighty mouse starts to get "low" the stupid blue tooth menubar item always appears and flashes.
Problem is, once the battery is "low" it usually goes another 5 to 7 days before it dies.
Is there a way to stop the blue tooth menubar item from showing up... ever.. at all?

Of course I did that, perhaps my post wasn't clear.
I always have the "show bluetooth in the menubar" option turned off. But when the batteries in my mouse or keyboard get low the menubar item turns itself on, apparently in some attempt to badger me into changing my batteries before they actually need to be changed, maybe apple is in collusion with battery manufacturers or something.
What I want to know is how to turn off the bluetooth menubar item PERMANENTLY so that the first hint I get that my batteries are dead is... they die. I really don't need to know before that moment, plus the warning comes up DAYS before the batteries actually die.

Lock SO Item

Hello Experts,
I would like to lock Sales Order at Item level, so that it will not be allowed for any change till the time the item is unlocked.
Note - I don't want to lock all items of Sales Order.

Can it be reused after archiving it? if yes then how? Because, there is some approval associated with each item and every item need to be locked only till the time item is approved or rejected. After that it should be open for any change.

R12: How to filter Open Item Revaluation Report based on GL Date

Hi,
Anybody know how to filter Open Item Revaluation Report based on GL Date from and GL Date to in R12?
Since we just upgraded from 11.5.10 to 12.1.3 and found we cannot filter those report for specific date. It shown all data included the old data from 8 years ago also.
We need to run the report only for specific date only. Please share with me if anyone know about this.
