How to lock playhead and scroll film strip, standard on adobe?

It is normal while editing to have playhead stationary in the middle of a screen and to have the clips running underneath left or right. In playback my playhead/cursor keeps dissapearing of the monitor which is a pain! The clips/strip start to move only when cursor is at right or left extreme. Ther must be a setting somewhere.

This is a much requested feature. AFAIK it currently is not available.
The best you can do is to use the "Provide Final Cut Pro Feedback" command under the Final Cut Pro menu.
The more people request the feature, the most likely it is tha is added sooner rather than later.

Lightroom 4.4: Only 3 thumbnails will display at a time in both Grid view and the Film Strip

Hi. I have Lightroom 4.4. and Windows 7--both of which have been working fine for several months. Starting a few days ago, however, thumbnails have refused to load for any NEW photos I import. They appear gray/blank in both Grid view and the film strip. However, if you click on any of the film strip thumbnails (while in either Grid view or Develop mode), that thumbnail and corresponding image WILL load--until up to three have done so. Then they begin disappearing again, allowing you to view no more than three images' thumbnails at any one time.
I can't review a shoot via Grid mode this way. I'm also afraid to use Lightroom while it's misbehaving, for fear of corrupting the catalog somehow (though all the images appear to be there). Searching this forum, I found several people who experienced having all of their thumbnails blank out and who were able to correct this by either reinstalling or removing their color profiling software. However, 1) I did this (and it didn't work), and 2) it isn't that all my thumbnails that have disappeared. All the thumbnails and images imported prior to the bug, still initially display correctly.* And I can get three thumbnails of the newer images to appear at a time.
*The asterisk is because after I poked around some more, I realized that if I opened other folders and began post-processing images from older uploads (vs. just viewing them), the thumbnails that initially displayed correctly everywhere also blank out and begin appearing in this up-to-three-at-a-time fashion.

Alas, it didn't work. I did it twice--the second time rebooting the computer before starting Lightroom. I didn't expect the reboot to make a difference, but I did discover something else in the process: the second time I tried this, I accidentally opened a different catalog--and new photos imported just FINE into that one, thumbnails and all! For one moment I thought the reboot HAD made the difference. However, when I reopened the catalog I actually wanted, the original problem remained. Thumbnails don't load with import, and, when forced, only display up to three at a time.
So the problem seems specific to this catalog.
And yes--thank you for affirming that reinstalling Lightroom wouldn't work, either. (I forgot to mention that's what I had tried first. It didn't help--but it's nice to know it wasn't supposed to.)

Use CS5 menu Help>Deactivate to deactivate CS5 then have your machine reimaged and the install CS5.

Scroll film strip

Hi,
I'd like to be able to have a film strip of thumbnail slides
scroll up and down, and also be able to click on any of the
thumbnails. Once a thumbnail is clicked, it should open the larger
(full) version of that respective slide. I can do a scroll bar, but
I cannot make the thumbnails clickable. Does anyone know how to do
this?

There are many tutorials online for scrolling thumbnail
menus. If you google flash, scrolling thumbnail menu, you get lots

Scrolling Film Strip Effect?

Hi, im crossing over from the Logic forum here but got an intersting question for you film & editing experts.
Me & team are making a music video at college & want to open the video with a movie reel scrolling vertically up the screen (the classic black film with the sort of, small white boxes lining each side) with the SFX to match.
Then the opening image appears on the film & we sort of zoom into that image leaving the film strip effect behind & carring on into the video.
Hope you get that, its tricky to explain but have seen simalar things like it done before.
So, is it possable in FC Express/Pro?
Or is this type of thing more to do with other applications?

dont think fcp has that feature specifically. if it did it would be under video generators and/or masks. the motion program might have something like it, but i havent really delved into that program much. best bet would be to create what you want in flash and import it.

I have a folder level javascript with a tool button installed on users hard drives.
Those with Adobe Reader 8 and 9 shows the add on tool button automatically.
Those with Adobe Reader X have to use the steps as follows to show the plug in tools

extended features
Plug in add on Tools
The user has to follow all of the above steps each time a document is opened to click on the tool button.
This can become time consuming when many documents need to use the tool button consecutively.
Is there a way to lock the tool button so the user just has to click the tool button when a document is opened in Reader X?

In response to a question about finding the internal name of a custom button (such as one added using a folder-level JavaScript):
The app.addToolButton() method for Acrobat 9 and earlier uses the cName parameter to define the internal name of the tool and posts it to a special "Add-on" toolbar, for example:

In Acrobat X this function will create a new pane in the Tools Panel called "Plug-in Add-on Tools" if it's not already present, and post the button there rather than on the system toolbar or Quick Tools area; but the internal name of the resulting button used by the registry preferences will have the prefix "_legacy:". In this example, if you create a button using the above script and are referring to the button in the Acrobat X registry keys to pre-populate the button into the Quick Tools area, you should use the name
_legacy:myToolButton
However the button itself still has the internal name "myToolButton", so if you try to create it a second time, the script will fail because the name "myToolButton" is no longer unique. Don't use the "_legacy:" prefix in your button-creation script.
Note that in Acrobat X 10.0 you cannot use the app.removeToolButton() method to remove any buttons from anywhere (the toolbars or the Panes), nor can you use the app.listToolbarButtons() function to return an array of all the objects; as the API has no direct connection to the toolbars or Panes. When a script tries to create a new button the Acrobat X API diverts the function call to the Tools Pane, but it's strictly a one-way conversation.

How to find tables and fields in the standard program.

              I am very new to ABAP,
            i am willing to write Report ,that is if i enter the vendor number i have to get item,quantity , name...with dateetc....
My approach was : i went to ME2L and i gave vendor number and date in that then i got some data ,then i got the program of that list ( it was there in bottom right) i.e, SAPMSSY0 .
           Then i entered in SE38,in that i go with Display Object LIst to find out the tables and fields,but i failed to found.
My question is : I can write the reports if i know the fields and tables location....
                          Here i want to know the ,if i enter the Vendor No, i have to get the regarding information about that NO,_for that i have to know the fields and tables_ of item and cost ....every thing ...

   Goto transaction SE84 then follow the path
SE84-->ABAP DICTIONARY--->FIELDS---->TABLE FIELDS-->ENTER THE TABLE OR FIED NAME you want to find
    and EXECUTE the programm you will get all the information regarding that field or table.

How do I find and install an older version of Adobe Media Encoder (Mac)?

I am currently trialing Adobe InDesign on my Mac (Snow Leopard).
I was unable to open the installed version of AME (7.0.0). I updated to 7.0.1 via this page http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?platform=Macintosh&product=160 but AME still wouldn't open.
As I understand it AME version 7 is only compatible with Mac OS 10.7 or higher, which would explain why it isn't opening.
Is it possible to download an older version of AME that would be compatible with Max OS 10.6.8? And if so, where do I find it? (The page above appears to have only update files.)

Yes. You can use Adobe Media Encoder CS6, which comes with such applications as InDesign CS6.

After editing, photo goes to end of film strip and I lose my place

In the beta, in develop mode, I would work on a file, go to CS3 for some editing, then back, and then export jpeg. Now, my work flow gets a little messed up with 1.1 because after I export, the photo I was working on disappears to the end of the film strip and my film strip is at the end. So, I keep losing my place. Is there a way to go back to the beta way by setting some preferences somewhere? Thanks in advance for any help.

It sounds like your sorting is set to "by edit time" or some other that's sending it to the end of the line. Also, work inside of one folder at a time.
