How to Maintain Battery ? Plug vs. Cord?

I am an avid Mac user. However, this is my very first laptop...ever.
I hear different things about how to handle charging your battery.
It would make sense to me that if you are by a plug... use it! and if not use your battery.
But i have been told that this will create a memory in you battery similar to ell phones.
Should i let the battery totally discharge before plugging in or otherwise?
What is the proper way to use PLUG VS. CORD? in the MacBook Pro?

This is misinformation - it applies to older battery chemistries (e.g. nickel-based like NiCd, NiMH), but not to the lithium based battery in your MBP; those have no 'memory effect'. Note that current cell phones all have Li-based batteries as well, so that advice doesn't apply to them, either. Frequent complete discharges of Li-based batteries is not a good practice (but you should calibrate the battery every couple of months).

I don’t know anything about Toshiba Portege PC. When you refer to “internal battery” do you mean an internal built in battery or a removable Li-ion battery pack that powers the laptop? (At any rate, the spec states that battery is a Li-ion 8-cell battery.) Unlike Ni-Cad, Li-ion does not have a memory therefore timing the recharging is not significant factor. But if you are trying to extend the life of the battery before replacement, there are ways that help to prolong the life cycle.

How to Maintain battery for longer life?

Is it better for the battery to leave the computer plugged in when it is not in use or let the battery run down and then recharge?

If you aren't going to use it for several days, I would leave it plugged in. I leave mine plugged in most of the time and leave the iBook open and set to only sleep the display so the automatic nightly maintenance routines can run and help keep my hard drive in tip-top shape.

It is quite fine to charge the phone overnight.
Do not continually deplete the battery to low levels.
You can charge at any time for any amount of time.
There is no requirement to charge to 100%.

It all depends on how much you plan to run on battery power. If you don't use it often, set yourself a reminder to let it run unplugged about every couple of weeks to aboout a 40% charge and then plug it up and let it charge back to 100%. If you'r'e a frequent battery user (like me) don't let your MBP discharge to the point where you're running on reserve power - down to about 30 minutes remaining and then charge it back in.
I have over 130 cycles on my computer and I've just had it since March. Even though my battery health was 102.2% when I got my MBP, it's still at 98.8% health and I'm still getting 7+ hours out of my battery. To get the longest use when under battery, keep your activities to low-CPU intensive apps (browser, email client, word processor, etc.) - Internet surfing alone, and not watching a lot of online videos, will give you mor ebang for the buck. You can also check your battery health in 'real time' by using "Battery Health" - free from the App Store and you can make sure that you're running on integrated graphics, which uses less power, by downloading Cody Krieger's exceptional gfxCardStatus.
Keep your screen brightness down to about four ticks and your keyboard backlighting to one tick - should work fine.

How to use battery efficiency?

I'm using Macbook a lot (8-10 hours per day). I want to know how to use battery efficiency and long lasting.

For more specific, i wonder i should use my Mac until its power is 50%-40% and plug in the charger or i need to plug in when it is 20% or under.
Then, if my Mac is fully charged, keep plugging the charger and keep running or i have to plug out and use all of the power before charging again?

The mid 2011 IMAC had the same problem with LION. I changed hard drives, formatted, and installed a clean install of latest os x mavericks. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Use the uninstaller provided with the Sophos software. You can uninstall CUDA via the preference pane. Be sure you remove the com.nvidia.CUDA extension which is located in the /System/Library/Extensions/ folder. Not sure if Fan Control has an uninstaller so you will have to do it manually:
Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash. Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder. Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space. If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application. In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder. You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder. You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder. Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item. Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder. Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences. Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab. Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS. Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term. Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default. You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, EasyFind, instead.
Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder. Usually with the same name as the program or the developer. The item generally has a ".pkg" extension. Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.
There are many utilities that can uninstall applications. Here is a selection:

Be sure to remove your two Login Items. Finally do this:
Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks without erasing drive
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu.

You can design your report and use Function module VIEW_MAINTENANCE_CALL for that.
You need to use Action type as 'S' for displaying and 'U' for maintaining the table.

How to install the plug-in for SQLServer 2000

Hello, All,
I am installing Oracle Migration workbench (10.1.0.4.0), want to migration data from SQL Server 2000 to Oracle. I downloaded omwb.zip file and sqlserver2k.zip plug-in. I put the plug-in in “plugins” folder during the installation, renamed it as SQLSERVER2K.JAR, and unzip it there, the unzip process generated two folders: META-INF and Oracle. There is a MANIFEST.MF file in META-INF folder, and in oracle folder, several small folders folder with a lot of .class files. I started the OMWB.BAT file in bin folder, I still get the error information: “No okugubs are installed. Please install…. “.
I tried many times, including rebooted the machine and restarted the OMWB.bat ifle, but still got the same error message. It should be a simple problem, but I just can't install OMWB becasue of the plug-ins problem.
Could anyone who installed the OMWB before and know how to solved the plug-in problems help me?
I am thinking: do I need to put all of the .class files in the folders into the “plugins” folder directly?

1- Download Omwb.zip & MySQL4.zip from Migration WorkBench WebSite
2- Unzip Omwb.zip (suppose it is unziped in C:\omwb)
3- Copy MySQL4.zip to C:\omwb\plugins and rename to MySQL4.jar
4- Execute C:\omwb\omwb.bat for WorkBench
