How to maintain crispness in letters from PS to ID

Question

I am attaching to screen shots to help clarifying my question, but here is what I did.
Yes, it is still the beach picture I am working with..
In PS, I have the base Beach picture (with the palm trees etc).
In ID, I have a type layer that has effects I do not think I could do in PS (hence the reason I used ID).
While in PS, I placed the ID type layer into a PS layer. It comes into PS as a Smart Object.  I then masked the type to flow through and around the trees. The letters look clean and sharp.  See attachment "forforum_fmPS and sharp",
I did a SAVE AS a PDP
Then, I went back to ID and did a relink of that PS PDP file and now the letters have lost their crispness.  See attachment "forforum_fmID and jagged"
What am I doing wrong that causes ID to not display the letters as crisply as PS?

First thanks for the help.  I really appreciate the efforts you all go through to spread your knowledge about this great program.
Peter.  As to the effects.  Yes, I did go back and check the ID FX compared to the PS Blending,  Dead on equal (in the one instance I checked) Except, for a couple of parms that (in ID), you could go less than 1.0 (ie. .01354), that you could not do in PS (ie. 1.0 was the lowest you could go).
BUT, other than that, the terminology, the functionality and almost the actual placement of the terms were identical!
That really stoked the "ID needs Masking capibilities" fire to the point I went to the enhancement forum and put my 2 cents in.  I also posted a PNG of the finished product (my little Get a Gal Card) to illustrate my comentary.  I am a Mr. Mom, and writing my name and phone number on a soggy cocktail aint the way to impress anyone! ha ha!
Additionally, I got to thinking it would be nice to have a cookbook on ID Good practices.  Possibly, it could be a "Sticky" for Dummies like me.  It might be a "living document" that is constantly enhanced by you pros.  The document (if it doesn't already exist somewhere), could have topics in it like:
Set up good practices.
How to manage PS and ID files.
Naming conventions.
Good Color usage (cmyk vs RGB). 
Printing tips (parms and good conventions for sending to printers (home and Print shops))
Suggested Program workflow
Location of free Plugins and programs to work with ID
and so on.
This might be to broad of a request, but I am certain specific tips/suggestions etc would be a great source of "cookbook" knowledge for a large group of ID users.
Possibly, the Peters, the Bobs, the Jungs etc of the world could colaborate and all put your "two cents" in the building of the sticky.  If this idea seems to not have merit, I will not post the request.  But if you think it might be benificial, let me know and will put it up there for the ID community.
