How to make a background image?

I wanted to try something special. For a few pages, and ideally the inside covers of the book, I would like to print a thumbnail of a logo on a white background as a backdrop for some of the pages. I see where to make a photo into the background for a page. But when I try to make the logo as the background, the logo FILLS the page.
Is there a way to make the logo smaller so it will be a just a small thumbnail on the page instead?

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • How to make a background image appear to grow slowly as text happens front

    How do I make a background image which is simply a static image of Earth in space "seem to grow closer" by just slowly enlarging the image as text appears in front of it? Can't seem to find anything intuitive on how to accomplish this. I'm sure it's simple but I just can't seem to wrap my brain around it.

    Double click your image to load it into the viewer. On the top of the viewer are 3 tabs, select the one that says "Motion." Inside of this tab you can animate any video or still image. For what you are wanting to do the Scale option will be the place to start. I think Scale is pretty self-explanatory, but just in case...click the keyframe button and type in a number for the scale (like 90). Scrub down a bit with the playhead and type in a new number next to scale (like 175). A new keyframe is created and you have yourself a zoom in.

  • How to make a background image stretch?

    I notice there are two options for background option "tile" and "original size". What happened to stretch? I would like the background image to take up the whole page no matter what size the browser window is. Easy enough to do with CSS and HTML. Any ideas on how to do this, am I missing something, or can I employ some sort of trick to achieve this? Thank You : )

  • How to make header background image scaleable on all devices

    I have a image that is 1920 by 700 px (1920 being the width of my laptops screen full size) that I want to use as a background for a header that is 1920 by 700 px. When I preview the full screen in chrome browers it scales great but when I check the smartshone and tablet view in dreamweaver cc the background is chop off. I need to use it as a background because I want to place a custom navigation menu on top of it. So why is it testing great at full screen and scaleing to any size but when I check the smartphone or tablet view in dreamweaver it looks crazy? Please someone!

  • How to repeat a background image to cover the height of the page?

    Hi
    I have a page with an image alinged to the top in a table and
    I have a pattern in the background of the cell in the same table
    I need that background of the cell to repeat it self along
    the height of the page, so when someone views the page at a higher
    resolution, the background image will repeat it self to cover the
    extra space.
    I've tried setting the height of the table to percentage, but
    the table doesn't cover the height of the page.
    I could also make the table really long so when viewed at
    higher resolution there wont be any blank space at the bottom, but
    this makes an unnecessary and long scroll when viewed at lower
    resolution.
    Someone told me to use css but i have now idea how to
    implement that.

    make sure you have set your page margins to 0 if you don't
    want the default
    margin top left. Cut and paste the following into the head of
    your document
    just before the closing </head> tag.
    then if you want to repeat a background image in a cell, you
    need to create
    a rule to do this:
    .cellback {
    /*this repeats the image across the page horizontally*/
    /* if you want to repeat down the page, then change to
    repeat-y */
    background: url(pics/whatever.gif) repeat-x;
    you can combine this background image rule with the other
    margin setting so
    you have:
    <style type="text/css">
    <!--
    body {
    margin: 0;
    padding:0;
    .cellback {
    background: url(pics/whatever.gif) repeat-x;
    -->
    </style>
    You then apply to the class to your cell
    <td clas="cellback">

  • How to make an icon image using Photoshop

    I found out how to do this recently so I decided that I wanted to make a tut for those who don't know how to make an icon image. This icon image is for the libraries tab on your computer. Under the libararies tab there is Music, Pictures, Documents, and Photos
    First you will need the ICO (Icon image format) Format extension for photoshop which can be downloaded here:
    http://www.telegraphics.com.au/svn/icoformat/trunk/dist/README.html
    The download link and tutorial on how to install it is all in the link above.
    Once you have that all set you can now launch photoshop to create your icon image. Once you have launched it, create a new document with the size as in the image below.
    [IMG]http://i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag25/dusty951512/256x256_zpsbf3dcf8e.png~original[/IMG]
    Create the image you want. I used a simple one by using the custom shape tool by pressing "U" on your keyboard and with the
    basic blending options.
    [IMG]http://i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag25/dusty951512/IconImage_zpsd788c709.png~original[/IMG]
    The reason why the image is pixelated is because it is an icon image. Since the image is only 256x256 pixels when you zoom in on it that will get you the pixely result. The reason why I zoomed  in is so you can see it. But don't worry this is no the end result. Just continue reading and you will see.
    So once you have created the icon go ahead and press
    file>save as>(under format choose the ICO)>and choose the name that you want to name it. And save it in your C: drive. You will see why to save it in your C: drive in a sec.
    [IMG]http://i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag25/dusty951512/SampleicoPic_zpsd252bfba.png~original[/IMG]
    So now that you have created the icon and saved it now you can create the new library.
    [IMG]http://i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag25/dusty951512/NewLibrary_zps8ca703b2.png~original[/IMG]
    Name the library whatever you want I named it "Sample" for tutorial purposes. Notice how it gives you a default boring icon image for your library.
    [IMG]http://i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag25/dusty951512/Sample1_zpsb5472840.png~original[/IMG]
    So now once you have created and named your library now it is time to get the icon image into place.
    Go to computer/c: Drive/users/YOU/ And now once you have reached this area you will need to access a hidden folder named "appdata" to do so press "Alt" then a menu bar will show. Click
    tools>folder options>and view. Find the option to view hidden folders then press apply then ok. Now we shall continue so AppData>Roaming>Microsoft>Windows>Libraries
    Now you should see all the libraries including the one you just created.
    [IMG]http://i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag25/dusty951512/showhiddenfolder_zpsad4a3c94.png~orig inal[/IMG]
    [IMG]http://i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag25/dusty951512/Libraries_zpsf6243bc0.png~original[/IMG]
    Once you have reached your destination then open a new text document with notepad and drag the library you just created in notepad. The result should look like this:
    [IMG]http://i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag25/dusty951512/Notepad_zps251a86f0.png~original[/IMG]
    once you have reached this point click at the end of the second to last line down then press enter and enter in this information
    <iconReference>c:\"NAME OF ICO FILE YOU CREATED IN PS".ico</iconReference>
    Example:
    [IMG]http://i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag25/dusty951512/iconreference_zps1c1a3eca.png~origina l[/IMG]
    Once you have entered that information go to file>save and the icon image should appear on the library you created.
    [IMG]http://i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag25/dusty951512/Finished_zps267f893a.png~original[/IMG]
    Now you are officially finished. Go and spread the news and joy. Bye for now

    It is Windows only because all those screen shots are exclusively Windows, the file structure and paths do not resemble those of the Mac in the least.  As a Mac user, there's nothing I could take from your tutorial.  Sorry,
    No drives named with letters like C: on the Mac, for instance.  No backward slashes either, ever.  No such paths either.  No "Notepad" on the Mac, we use TextEdit; but such a text editor is not remotely needed on the Mac to make and/or edit icons.  Etc.
    Those folders are not even called "Libraries" on the Mac…  Nothing resembling your tutorial at all.
    The icons in the Finder's Sidebar are not customizable at all in recent version of OS X.

    Hello Seniors of Sun,
    I gota small doubt in HTML, can any one please help me in solving it,
    I would like to know how to stretch a background image using HTML? I have tried and tried to figure this out and cannot..
    so any one kindly help me in this...

    Please note that this is not an HTML forum.
    You can use an image tag on a DIV positioned behind the rest of the page, so that could actually work. And if you want to use body:background, then look up an HTML/CSS reference and see if there are any other body attributes or CSS stuff that applies to the background image.

    Good morning,
    Does anyone here know how to make a background soundtrack for a Tai Chi Video in Garageband. I have been looking around at the different sounds and music in Garageband but I have not been able to find anything that would go with the video.
    Here is an example of a Tai chi video if you were wondering

    Brandon,
    you will not have to do any importing in GarageBand. Intalling Mainstage will extent GarageBands Loop Library and Instruments Library.
    After you installed MainStage the additional loops and Instruments will show in GarageBand just like all other Loops. you will simply see more loops.

  • How can you make a background image change to a faded state at a certain point in scroll?

    I'm referring to a technique I've seen used in Relevant Magazine's iPad app if anyone has used it. I understand having a shape behind text that has a feathered gradient and when you scroll the text the shape gradually fades out the background image. But this is not the effect I'm trying to acheive. On some of the articles in Relevant, the screen is a full image and as you scroll the type up, the entire background dims when you scroll to a certain spot.
    I've tried searching for hours, but I feel like I'm getting no where because I don't really know what to search for. I feel like it requires use of something other than what DPS is capable of. Hopefully this makes sense and I'd greatly appreciate any suggestions and help!
    Thanks!

    Try applying the feathered gradient to the scrollable content frame, not the background frame. It will appear to change the color of the background frame.

    Are you talking about a real image in the markup (an img
    "tag") or about a
    background image?
    Background images do not stretch, real images will resize to
    whatever
    dimensions you set for them in the styles sheet.
    As a side note, IE has a filter that allows "background
    images" (note that
    they are not really background images) to stretch (Google
    "AlphaImageLoader
    scale").

  • How do I remove background images from a PDF?  Using Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Standard.

    I have a file I need to print off, but the document is 100 pages lond and each page as a very obnoxious background image that makes it difficult to read the content, and I really don't want to waste the ink.
    I have tried a few things with no luck:
    -Tried replacing document background color in the 'Accessibility' tab in preferences.
    -Tried unchecking the 'Display large images' field in the 'Page Display' tab in preference - this leaves a dark gray background that I can't get rid of, which is almost as bad as the original image.
    -Tried several combinations under the 'Color Management' tab in preference to lessen the gray background achieved from the previous step.  I can only brighten the shade slighty, but there is still a fair amount of gray background.
    I just want a white background, or a clear background, and I have not seen any article or help topic on how to accomplish this.  Please help!
    Mike

    You might want to see if you can select the background with the object touchup tool. If so, can you then just delete the selected object. May take a while to go through the document, but if it solves the problem you are ahead. You may be able to select it with JavaScript and repeat the process. My point of using the object touchup tool is that it may not be a background set by Acrobat, but something that is simply labeled as an image from the Acrobat viewpoint.

  • How to add different background image for submenu items???

    Hi all,
    I'm pretty new to web design and CSS in particular. Here's my problem...
    I've got a Spry horizontal menu bar (untouched as yet), and I want to have a different background image for my submenu items than that of my menu items. From searching the internet I think that I need to apply a class to the submenu item (please correct me if I am wrong).
    How would I go about doing this and how would I assign the class to just the submenu items?
    Also ideally I want to have my first and last menu items to have rounded corners on one side (therefore making a rounded edge menu bar), is it possible to have a different background image for individual menu items? If so, how?
    Really appreciate any help!

    Thanks for the link! I've managed to sort the background issue, and it seems to be working fine!
    Just one little issue left to tackle...
    I want my text to be centered in my top menu items BUT aligned left in my drop down menu items. I have managed this but the text hugs the left hand side. I've tried adding a little margin to the left but that doesn't seem to affect anything???
    Here's my CSS... Any ideas which class I should be targeting or why adding the margin isn't working would save my tearing the rest of my hair out! thanks! (screenshot attached).

  • How to make 2D background in 3D project?

    Hello guys,
    I have a 3D group which has one object in it. (text) I want this text spin in 3D therefore I have add a camera and applied a sweep behavior to it. It moves nicely in 3D space, exactly as I want.
    Then I need some background, so I create a new group, make it 2D and place it as a bottom layer.
    I choose a background image from my library and place in into this new group.
    But ..... background now spins exactly the same way as my text. It does not stay as a background, but becomes just another object moving together with the text.
    Since I did make this new group 2D, how could this happened?
    Any advise how I can make the background stay still (or move it separately from the text?
    Thank you so much.

    Sound like you might have accidentally created your 2D group inside your 3D group - it has to be at the root level.
