How to make a column a primary key so duplicate records cannot be added

I have a text column called JPPNum, and I want to make it so a user cannot add the same JPP Number if the record with that JPP number is already in there. So no duplicate on JPP NUm, how would I do that?
Thank you.

hi,
refer to the below article you just have to specify the "yes" in "enforce unique values"
setting of column.

    wrap a view around your table with this bogus primary key. Use an instead of trigger to handle the inserts and updates. And then look at using surrogate keys to resolve these bad design issues...

    LONG is not ( and never will be, so don't bother asking) supported by XMLTable. You should use CLOB or BLOB.

    If you are looking for an example to create a composite primary key, here you are.
    sql> Alter Table myTable add constraint pk_myTable primary key(col1, col2, ...coln) ;
    where
    pk_myTable is the name of the primary key constraint,
    myTable is the name of the table that you want to create a constraint on and
    col1...coln are the column names in the table <myTable)

    Please helpI am afraid that this is not possible. There isn't anything which would reveal this detail to you at run time that which column(s) are a part of the referential constraints. This is not visible even in the description of the table(s) also using Describe command too. The only way would be to check the status of the table and its related constraints in the dictionaries, DBA_CONSTRAINTS or DBA_CONS_COLUMNS .

  • How to make a column as command link

    hi,
    how to make a column as command link.i want to make a table column as a command link so that a popup will come.please let me know.
    thanks in advance

    JDeveloper 10.1.3 does not have a popup but a dialog framework that opens a dialog in a separate browse window. As Chris pointed out, the developer guide contains a section about how to launch the dialog. To programmatically launch the dialog from a command link use its action listener property
        public void commandButton_action2(ActionEvent event) {
    // make the clicked row the current
      //Get access to the value binding
       ValueBinding vb = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getApplication().createValueBinding("#{bindings.DepartmentsView1Iterator}");
       DCIteratorBinding dciter = (DCIteratorBinding) vb.getValue(FacesContext.getCurrentInstance());
      //the command link is a child of af:column, which is a child of af:table
      CoreTable ct = (CoreTable)actionEvent.getComponent().getParent().getParent();
      //access the row data, to obtain the Row object and the formatted key string
      JUCtrlValueBindingRef juctrlref = (JUCtrlValueBindingRef) ct.getRowData();
      String rowKey = juctrlref.getRow().getKey().toStringFormat(true);
    //set the current row in the binding
      dciter.setCurrentRowWithKey(rowKey);
    // open dialog
            FacesContext fctx = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
            AdfFacesContext adfFacesCtx = AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
            UIViewRoot viewRoot = new UIViewRoot();
            viewRoot.setViewId("/yourDialogPage.jspx");
            HashMap properties = new HashMap();
            properties.put("width",300);
            properties.put("height",200);
            adfFacesCtx.launchDialog(viewRoot,properties,(CoreCommandLink)event.getSource(),true,null);
      }If the dialog is based on the same VO then the current row is selected. If not then you may want to pass the value ofthe rowKey in a HashMap as the last argument to open dialog

  • How to make few columns of single record inactive in Table conrol?

    Hi all,
    Scenario is like this : i have one table control , it is displaying 10 records , in that first four columns are editable. Now my requirement is, whenever record having intial values( suppose one record having initial values among ten) except key field , we need to deactive that particular  record , now table control  should contain ten records , but nine records are in editable state and one record in non editable state .
    How to make few columns of single record inactive in Table conrol?
    Thanks in advance.

    hi there...
    select the column that u want to convert to non editable mode in the screen layout. then double click on it. go to the attributes tab and uncheck the input chk box. the check box will become disabled for input. u can do this for any number of columns.
    if u want to do it dyanamically, loop at screen. check for the screen element's name. when itmatches the column u want to disable, simply set the input value as 0.
    dont forget to modify sscreen after setting the attribute values.
    i hope this helps.
    do reward if helpful.

  • How to make text columns with adobe muse

    Hi,How to make text columns with adobe muse (like InDesign)?

    Multiple columns can be acheived with CSS - http://www.w3schools.com/css/css3_multiple_columns.asp
    div
    -moz-column-count:3; /* Firefox */
    -webkit-column-count:3; /* Safari and Chrome */
    column-count:3;
    I'm surprised that Muse does not support text columns yet, but perhaps the custom CSS can be added in style tags on page properties. Haven't tried it, but don't see why it wouldn't work.

    If i need to write any user defined funtion... can any one provide the code for it.
    Thanks
    Amaresh

    Hi Bavesh,

    <value1>
    <value2>
    </Record 1>
    <Record 2>

    like above i will be getting n number of recored and in each record i need  to genarate primary key in XI.and the key sould be in sequence...
    like for the first record 1 secound 2 like that primary key should add to the privous Primary key.

    I have migrated my SCCm 2007 environment to SCCM 2012 SP1 CU4.
    I noticed in the System Status\Component Status\SMS_STATE_SYSTEM a lot of errors like the one below:
    Microsoft SQL Server reported SQL message 2627, severity 14: [23000][2627][Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 11.0][SQL Server]Violation of PRIMARY KEY constraint 'DeploymentSummary_PK'. Cannot insert duplicate key in object 'dbo.DeploymentSummary'. The duplicate key value is (1, 0, S0220438, 0). : spUpdateClassi
    Please refer to your Configuration Manager documentation, SQL Server documentation, or the Microsoft Knowledge Base for further troubleshooting information.
    When looking up the deployment ID and recreate the Deployment the problem is solved. But I have 700 packages and don't want to manually do this action on all packages. I think it is related to the migration i did and something went wrong there :-(
    Besides it will retriggers the deployment to the clients which is also not preferred.
    Is there another way to solve this by e.e.g do something directly in the SQL database tables ?

    Hi,
    It is not supported by Microsoft that do something directly in SQL database.
    If you want to do that, you could make a call to CSS.

    There can be two reasons
    1. The insert script used is having multiple instances of the records with Key as 12610 returned from the source query. If this is the issue add a logic to include only the unique set of id values for records by avoiding duplicates. There are several approaches
    for this like using ROW_NUMBER with PARTITION BY, using a join with derived table etc
    2. The record with Key 12610 already exist in your destination table and your script is again trying to insert another instances of record with same key. This can be avoided by adding a NOT EXISTS condition with a subquery which will check and return only
    those records which doesnt already exist in the source
