How to make a DVD video with iDVD without using themes

How can I record my DVD without using iDVD themes. I do not care about the selections. I just want a simple slide show showing only photos.

Hello puzzledbon,
Than you for the question.  You can make a OneStep DVD from a movie to avoid adding a theme to you DVD.  Before you can do that, you will have to create your slideshow and export it in iPhoto.
Use the steps in the section titled "Make a saved slideshow" in the following article to create a slideshow in iPhoto '11:
iPhoto '11: Make a slideshow
http://support.apple.com/kb/ph2333
Next, you will have to export the slideshow as a movie using the steps in this article:
iPhoto '11: Export a slideshow
http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2428
If you are using iPhoto '09, you can use the steps in this video to create and export your slideshow:
iPhoto '09: Create and Share a Slideshow
http://support.apple.com/kb/vi14
Exporting the slideshow as a movie will give you a video file that you can use in conjunction with the steps in the following article to make a DVD without a theme:

  • How to make a DVD video with bonus iPod ready vids included

I'd like to make a standard video DVD for playing in a typical DVD player. But somewhere on the disc, I was also thinking of putting on a bunch of iPod ready videos that people could just copy directly onto their hard drives.
I'm hoping someone might have some advice on how to get this extra content onto the DVD.
    Thanks for any help.

Since the folder content is not going to be played on a set top player, you might as well simply add a menu with text to inform the user that the content is there. You might try using DVD@ccess links to get the content to play when in a computer, but to be honest, since you are providing video only I wouldn't think it worth the effort.
You could also consider linking to a simple HTML page that itself references the footage so that the user sees a familiar web browser and has a page with 'download' links on it. You'll need to create your microsite as you would any other web site of this kind, and then put it all in a single folder. Point your @ccess link to the single folder and the 'index.htm' page will load into the default web browser.... as long as the user has got @ccess installed on their computer.
Given the problematic nature of this piece of software, it is often not worth the effort. If you have access to a PC then you should look at Sonic eDVD as a far better alternative.

  • How to make a DVD compatible with USA televisions

I sent a DVD to a friend in USA made with iDVD in Spain . He can not see on the tv , what can we do ?

    Hi
One can do this in better or worse ways.
Fastest and best (as I see it) is to use VLC on a Mac or PC. As previously said.
Bad way is to make a PAL movie and drop this into a NTSC iDVD project.
    - YES iDVD will convert it into NTSC - BUT the resulting DVD will play very bad and jumpy !
    - I do my projects (most oftennin PAL) and then Export them as full quality QuickTime.mov
    - Then I use JES_Deinterlacer (free on Internet) to convert from 25fps to 29.97fps
    - This movie I drop into a NTSC iDVD project. AND the resulting DVDs plays very well in USA !
    I use Verbatim DVD-R
I burn at slowest possibly speed - to get as few burn errors possibly - YES IT DO MATTERS !

  • How do i sync my contacts with gmail without using cloud?

I want to sync my contacts to Gmail, but iTunes tells me that I'm already syncing via the cloud, which is impossible because my Gmail account says I have alot more contacts than my phone does. So my question is, how do i sync manually without creating duplicates. Thanks

Im sorry, I left out one important detail:
I went through that a long time ago. My phone has actually synced with google before, it just refuses to do it automatically. So what I was trying to ask: is there a way to manually sync my contact to google..There are two things i suspect might be causing the problem but I dont know how to correct these issues:
    1) I have multiple Gmail accounts linked to my phone so maybe there is a priority issue.
    2) The cloud is taking priority over gmail, because when i check my iCloud it has all my contacts there.
So, if i just needed a backup somewhere of my contacts in case i lost/replaced my iPhone then the cloud would be just fine. However, I need them backed up in google because Im switching to a Windows phone, and google seems to be the best contact backup to use across multiple branded devices. Everyone loves Google.
    An update to my situation:
Windows app store had an app that uses bluetooth to retrieve all my contacts from my iPhone. It worked wonderfully. So any insight from here on out will only benefit others with this problem that happen to read this discussion, because my issue has been resolved. Thanks for your intended help nonetheless.

  • How do I make a DVD for a TV without idvd which is not on my new iMac?

I have a new imac (a pc user) and I made an imovie but now I can't make a DVD because apple no longer includes idvd. I have searched the web and talked to long time mac users and no one has any suggestions on how to make a DVD for a TV to send out my movies of sale horses.

The current Apple thinking is that the entire world has access to fast broadband and wants to destribute home movies to friends and relatives via download (iCloud) rather than mailing them a DVD. The fact that nothing could be further from the truth has so far had no effect on this policy. If you scream and shout loudly enough down the phone Apple may send you a free copy of iDVD. That has worked for some, but is not guaranteed to work for all.
Whilst Macs with a Superdrive continue to be able to burn video DVDs, the software for so doing, iDVD, is no longer included in the iLife bundle that comes with Lion. You have to buy iLife 11 from online Apple Store in order to get iDVD. You are strongly recommended to do so soon as it will not be available for much longer.
If you wish, like many others, to complain to Apple, use this link:

  • How do I burn my camera videos using iDvd without using a theme? I just want it to start playing all my clips once I insert into a DVD player

    Hello,
I have done this before in the past and now I have forgotten how to do it! I would like to simply put all my camera videos from the past year onto a DVD but do not want to have the iDVD theme menus and chapters. In the past, I was somehow able to upload and burn these videos using iDVD without the themes. Can someone help? Thank you so much!

    Hi
    No Menu DVD
    from. Mishmunken
How to create a DVD in iDVD6 without menu (there are several options)
    1. Easy. Drop your iMovie in the auto-play box in iDVD's Map View, then set your auto-play item (your movie) to loop continuously.
Disadvantage. The DVD plays until you hit stop on the remote
    2. Still easy. If you don't want your (auto-play) movie to loop, you can create a black theme by replacing the background of a static theme with a black background and no content in the drop-zone (text needs to be black as well).
Disadvantage. The menu is still there and will play after the movie. You don't see it, but your disc keeps spinning in the player.
    3. Still quite easy but takes more time. Export the iMovie to DV tape, and then re-import using One-Step DVD.
Disadvantage. One-Step DVD creation has been known to be not 100% reliable.
    4. (My preferred method) Easy enough but needs 3rd party software. Toast lets you burn your iMovie to DVD without menu - just drag the iMovie project to the Toast Window and click burn.
Disadvantage. you'll need to spend some extra $$ for the software. In Toast, you just drop the iMovie project on the Window and click Burn.
    5. The "hard way". Post-production with myDVDedit (free-ware)
    Tools necessary. myDVDedit ( www.mydvdedit.com )
    • create a disc image of your iDVD project, then double-click to mount it.
    • Extract the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders to a location of your choice. select the VIDEO_TS folder and hit Cmd + I to open the Inspector window
    • Set permissions to "read & write" and include all enclosed items; Ignore the warning.
    • Open the VIDEO_TS folder with myDVDedit. You'll find all items enclosed in your DVD in the left hand panel.
    • Select the menu (usually named VTS Menu) and delete it
    • Choose from the menu File > Test with DVD Player to see if your DVD behaves as planned. If it works save and close myDVDedit.
    • Before burning the folders to Video DVD, set permissions back to "read only", then create a disc image burnable with Disc Utility from a VIDEO_TS folder using Laine D. Lee's DVD Imager.

I have alot of loose photos at home (old) and I would love to make a bunch of iphoto books and make the pages like whole page collages?  How do I get my photos into iphoto in order to do this?  Can I make a DVD at the drugstore and add them to iphoto?

You can make the collages easily if you have iWork.  Just open a letter sized page in landscape mode and drag the photos onto the page, rotate and postiion as necessary.  Then do a Print ➙ PDF ➙ Save PDF to iPhoto to get a 200 dpi jpeg version of the Pages page into iPhoto.  From there you can add it to your book and use a blank page with the option to have an image as the backbround.
If you have a 3rd party image editor that supports layers you can create the collage with it.

  • How can I create a video with effects using my ipad?

How can I create a video with effects (sepia, B&W, Negative, oval or any other shape borders) using my ipad?  I would Like to keep a higher res and also be able to shrink it down to email or send in a MMS. Or should I just upload it to my PC and mess with it there? Some of the apps I have are very easy to use compared to the learning curve needed for video editing software.
    Thanks

Thats the Problem . . . how many apps do I have to try until I find the one I want? I noticed a few will render the video thus losing its original size. When I went to edit it more in iMovie the video was smaller--not good. And what software do you suggest, Templeton, for the PC? I love the apps because they are easy. I dont have hours to mess around on a software to figure out if its something I want. Im looking for simplicity. Maybe Ill get more into it later. I just want to record simple video of my playing the guitar for self analysis and create a short video for family and friends.
    Apps:
    iMovie
    CinemaFXV
    VideoFix
    Cartoonatic
    Video illusion
    VidEditor
    Software:
Windows Movie maker (wont accept .mov files)
After Effects (Too little time, so much to learn)
Wondershare (Very easy but little choices)
    VideoPad (Again. Few choices)

That's strange. I responded earlier and the whole message got trashed. Hence the test post before retyping the entire thing again.
    Thanks for the reply.
The video clip is a single screen capture video clip. This is what I've found by playing around with this more.
The original clip resolution is greater than 640x480. If I use QT Pro to convert the original clip to 640x480 and then use either Flip4Mac or PE7, then the resolution looks good.
Just trying to figure out if should keep all workflow on the MacOS side. There are several different version of Flip4Mac. $49 gives me 640x480, but if I ever want to make it slightly larger then I would need to go with the $99 or HD version.
I also tried to export to AVI with QT Pro and the import with Windows MovieMaker but it didn't work really good. I liked the simplicity (since PE7 hogs a lot of resources especially through VMWare).

By default, Disk Utility has the "Add to Keychain" setting checked on.
You have to make a new image and turn this funtion off if you want to make sure the video stays private on your computer.
If you send the video to another computer, the user will have to enter the password.

How can I convert DVD- video into Apple's format so that I can play the content on my Mac and also stream it to my Apple TV? A few years ago, I transferred all of my home videos onto DVD but now would really like to put these onto my Mac and stream them through Apple TV to watch on the "big screen". Any advice would be most welcome!! Thanks

    MPEG Streamclip.
Apple do not have their "own" format. You need to convert your DVDs to H.264 though.
