Always remember to backup your phone before performing resets as your data may be lost.
The "3 finger deep reset". With the phone powered off, depress and hold these three keys simultaneously "*" "3" "green phone" and then power on phone using the on/off button whilst keeping all four keys depressed until you hear start-up tone.
The default lock code is usually 12345 unless you changed it.

That is, I don't want to boot from the usb stick on my mac; I want to write an ISO to a usb stick that's plugged into my Macbook Pro (Mavericks), then carry the stick to a different machine (several discarded Windows boxes in fact), plug it in there, and watch it boot on that machine. I've done a bit of googling, but everything I find talks about making USB drives with content that can be booted on a Mac. What I'm wondering is if it's possible to write to use my Mac to write bootable USB gadgets that work on other machines that aren't running OSX software.
Anyone know if this is discussed anywhere? If not, what's the right forum to ask it on? And how do I ask it so that I don't get yet another explanation of how to make something that will boot on my Mac?
I have several linux ISOs waiting. Actually, I could do the job on one of several available linux boxes. But I'd like to do it on my portable laptop, which at the moment is this Macbook Pro.

Kestrel password not working, how do I do a factory / hard reset

I have forgotten the password to get into my EE Kestrel, and I've tried a hard reset following the instructions elsewhere in this community (pressing on/off & volume buttons simultaneously). Every time the following happens - I get an Android robot image, followed by the message 'check sd update pkg is exist......make sure usb cable has been inserted! usb update starting.....' Then it just hangs. I switch it off and try again with power/volume buttons as before, and the same thing happens every time. I called the EE helpsesk, but they can't resolve so they gave me the Huwawei phone technical helpdesk. They told me that EE should not have given me their number, as EE put their own software on the Kestrel, and Huwawei can't support it Any suggestions please?

Once you reach the recovery screen you should be able to use the volume buttons to scroll through the menu. You need to select 'Factory Reset'.
Please be aware that this will wipe all saved data and media from your phone.

Its Urgent..I searched the forum using "jtextpane wrapping" to find other postings on this topic. I find some suggestions from the first page of hits. So you could have found an answer 5 hours ago. I guess it isn't that urgent after all.

IPhone will not indicate charging status until powered off or reset

When I plug my iPhone 4S into either a wall charger (via USB connector) or an iHome music dock, the battery indicator does not update to reflect that the phone is plugged in and that the battery is being charged. However, if I power off the phone or perform a reset (simultaneously holding down the power and home buttons) and restart the iPhone, the battery indicator updates to show that the phone is plugged in and charging is occurring.
Is there a fix, or is replacement in order?
I did not notice this being an issue until I plugged the phone into the iHome dock for the first time a few days ago and tried to charge the phone via the wall charger later that day.

I like your answer, and normally I never power my phone off. But it seems like I was having battery issues yesterday (percentage dropping pretty quickly for not even using phone or running apps or data). So I wanted to power the phone off. It's also supposed to charge the battery faster when the phone is powered off. That's the only reason.
Still hoping for more answers or suggestions before I have to place a call to Apple.

Hard drive is full, how to make iTunes span multiple hard drives?

My mp3 drive is full. How do I tell iTunes to use multiple hard drives? It seems to only want to deal with one.

All you have to do is go to the iTunes Edit menu > Preferences > Advanced tab > General sub-tab and change the location of your iTunes Music folder.
New files added to your Library will go to the new location, old files will remain in the old location.

Computer is powering off - hard to restart

Hello everyone,
Totally new here - and timid about posting since my computer skills are very limited.
My G5, OSX 10.3 will turn itself off after about 10 or 15 minutes of non-use. It now is becomming difficult to turn it back on. Making whirring noises.
Nearest service center is 200 miles from me. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

First of all, Welcome to the Apple Discussions Forums!
Just wanted to post in to reassure you to not be timid here.....
There are alot of very nice folks here and more than accustomed to helping new mac users or new computer users for that matter. Just didn't want you to feel timid about asking for help here. Either someone like myself or others here can sort things out pretty good but sometimes it just takes time posting back and forth to understand the problem correctly.
Don't feel shy posting back if someone has suggested something you do not understand and asking for them to explain further. Don't feel embarrased about a lack of knowledge etc.......We all have been there....believe me...lol))
That all said, is the computer a Power Mac G5 (a tower with a seperate display) or an iMac G5 (all in one desktop computer)? Not sure if that matters at this point but all the info posted may help to solve the problem.
Off hand I am thinking it might be a sleep issue. Are you at all familiar with Sleep settings on the computer?
I'm not sure about the "whirring noises" yet (perhaps the computers drive spinning etc.) but I would check the Sleep settings first to rule that out. These are found in your System Preferences/Hardware/Energy Saver settings. When you click on the Energy Saver icon a pane will open showing the "sleep" settings. Let us know where these are set.
Post back with all your questions and I'm sure I or someone here will be glad to help as much as we can.

- if there is lint in the head phone jack that will cause the phone to think headphones are in there, use compressed air to blow out the jack, if the problem persists, then call 800.my.apple and if the phone is under warrenty they can help you.

I use the preferences in ITUNES to turn off automatic down loads and every time i start iTunes it tries to force me to sign to an ICLOUD account and automatic download. I have tried everything I can find on apple help sites. But you Apple carefully stays away from the subject of how to make it stay off. I have 10.9.4 system
and 11-3 (54) iTunes.

Memory full/freezing/want hard reset

I have a palm pilot Z22 that has been freezing up lately. The memory is getting close to full. So I thought if I do a hard reset and delete evrerything I could start over with a clean "hard drive". I am wondering if I do a hard reset, will I lose all the contact info that has been synced with my computer after the hard reset? For example, with iTunes whatever is on your ipod is on your computer itunes and vise versa. With my palm, I want to keep all the info in contacts but now add more to it with a freed up memory. Any suggestions?

Make sure you hotsync to make Palm Desktop or Outlook (whichever you use) to make it current. Hard reset the handheld, change the hotsync conduits to desktop overwrites handheld and then sync.

The best way to preserve your data is to export the data in each category in Palm Desktop to a seperate folder on your PC.
Create a new folder on your PC somewhere that is convenient. Name it something like Palm Desktop Data. Click on the link below and follow the instructions on that page for the export procedure.

Make sure you select all for the range in the export window.
With the data saved in the folder you created, make a copy of that folder and save to a flash drive, cd-rw or external hard drive.
Anytime you make a change in Palm Desktop, export the data that was changed to that folder and save again to the external media.
With this process you can always import the data back into Palm Desktop anytime you have a problem with the data in Palm Desktop or if your computer/hard drive/device crashes.

The ipod was stuck loading an email, so I pushed the off button on top of the ipod, but now just have the little wheel going around on the screen. How do I shut it off to reset it?

hold the homebutton and the power button at the same time ..when it shuts off let go of the power button but keep ur finger on the home button that should reset it (no data will be replaced or deleted)
