How to make a pressure sensitive brush in CS3?

Hi!
Is there someone out there who knows how to make a brush similar to this? I've been trying to figure it out for several hours now, but nothing works!
Daniel

Sorry but you aren't going to get something that looks like that from a pressure sensitive brush in Illustrator.
The colors and groupings of blocks are too random to be a repeating pattern (a simple one, anyway) and the order is too consistent to be something like a scatter brush. That said, you *can* do this with a brush but it won't be pressure sensitive and it will require a degree of setup.
Start by building a row of blocks. Mine is a simple pattern with a few pieces removed and not terribly interesting looking but hopefully it'll give you the idea of what I mean:
Group everything and then go up to Effect> 3D> Rotate
Set your X, Y, And Perspective parameters to taste. Keep the Z axes (the blue one) at zero:
Go to Object> Expand Appearance You'll notice that Illustrator has put a clipping mask around your squares (transparent rectangle) Delete it.
Take everything you have and drag it over to the brush panel and make a new Art Brush:
Now you can select that brush and paint with it though you'll get better results by stroking a path you've drawn with the pen tool:
A couple of things to keep in mind:
You'll need to consider your ultimate length when creating the brush. Longer or more wavy lines will require more squares. My squares look a little skewed because I didn't bother to make my pattern very long. A longer row will improve the look of this but hopefully my example is enough to give you the idea.
For generating the square colors, you might want to try the random fills script available from James talmage's page and then use live color to tint everything for you.

  • All pressure sensitive brush presets gone!

I work with Ps Creative Suite 6.
Suddenly all the pressure sensitive brush presets are gone- leaving me with only hard brushes that produce 1-size-only brush strokes.
No matter what brush I choose, I can't manage to make them pressure sensitive now.
These (red arrows) are the brush presets which are now gone:
This is what is now left:
Can anyone tell me why they vanished for no apparent reason?
I work with those brushes 97% of the time, I really need them back!
    Thank you!

  • How to make PowerPivot case sensitive?

    Hi all,
I just discovered that PowerPivot is case-insensitive, which is quite a big problem for me. The only discussion of this I found so far is here: http://dennyglee.com/2010/06/18/powerpivot-you-are-so-insensitive-case-that-is/ .
That didn't fully answer my question though, is it possible to change this behaviour and make it case sensitive?
The reason it's a problem for me is that I have a column (from external data source) used as an ID in a relationship, which contains a string of random characters. If it so happens that two entries have an ID which only differs by a case of a letter, everything
blows up. More precisely, I can no longer import the data into the table where the column is used as a PK, because it is not unique.

  • How to make smooth line by brush tool using shift key?

Heya, I have a short question. Is there a way to make smooth line by brush tool using shift key, without that characteristic dot on the begining? I'm using PS CS6 on Win7.

    Cheers

The shift key constrains the brush to paint a straight line. Those dark spots you see are from two paint strokes overlapping each other. If the flow or opacity of the brush is not at 100% you can see the stroke below it.

  • How do you make a truly pressure sensitive brush?

I have been using Sketchbook Pro to draw becuase the brushes seem to work so much better, but I feel that Photoshop must do the same thing, if I only knew how.  I want to draw with say, a charcoal style brush.  I want the pressure with my Cintiq to both vary the size and the opacity.  In Photoshop, I can only seem to make the size vary with pressure which results in a solid black line no matter what.  Here is the difference, in the attached picture.  Note how the Sketchbook line has variation in both size and density resulting in a much more natural look.
So what settings do I need to check to make the build up get darker the more I brush or the harder I press?

Wow, these are really helpful tips.  Thank you so much.  And I must get the Supergirl Brush!  So now I know, but I still have a few questions about how this works.  If I choose, say, Crayon and I make an adustment to it, like Shape Dynamics, I find that when I change brushes and go back to it, the adjustment has reset to how it was originally.  How do I keep it the way I set?
Save it as a new preset.

I have loaded a bunch of brushes, but many are useless to me.  I presume I can delete them so that I only have the brushes I want and then I can save that set with a name like, "My natural brushes".  When I delete them, I hope I am only deleting from the set and not completely deleting them.  That is, I could load them again.  Now with what looks like well over a hundred brushes loaded, it seems quite tedious to select them one at a time to deltete.  Is there a more user friendly brush management interface that allows me to see the brushes and just multi drag them out?
Do we know what operating system ypu are using?  If Windows 7 (and possible 8.1) go to
    C:\users\your user name\App Data\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop (CC CS6 I don't know what you are using)\presets\brushes
What I do is have this folder open while going threough the brush sets in Photoshop, and rename them so they appear in sensible alphabetical order.  I also delete any dead wood.
The default set is called Standard, and IMO you should treat it with respect and not mess with it.  For instance I once went through the Standard set wondering why there were so many repeats, and deleted some of them.  I awarded myself **** of the Year for that act of stupidity as those apparent duplicates have different, and very useful, shape dynamics.

  • EM12C | Data Masking | How to make my column sensitive

    Hello All,
    EM : 12c
    DB: 11.2.0.3
I have a table with column "Salary" and after doing the 'Data Discovery and Modelling' on my schema i do not see Oracle has identified by column as "Sensitive".
How do i make it sensitive so that i can "mask" it ?
    TIA,
    JJ

Steps for data masking feature in 12c Cloud Control(12.1.0.1):
Creating only a masking definition does not protect data. You need to first create the definition, which defines the columns to be masked, then proceed with the actual masking to ensure data safety.
Each masking definition requires one or more formats, which define the format used to mask the selected data. You can create the formats before or after creating the masking definition.
Note: Before creating or editing a masking definition, be aware of the following advisory information:
        - Make sure the format you select does not violate check constraints and does not break any applications that use the data.
        - For triggers, PL/SQL, and so forth, Data Masking recompiles the object.
        - Exercise caution when masking partitioned tables, especially if you are masking the partition key. In this circumstance, the row may move to another partition.
        - Data Masking does not support clustered tables, masking information in object tables, XML tables, virtual columns, and so forth. However, relational tables are supported for the masking.
        - If objects are layered on top of a table such as views, materialized views, PL/SQL, and so forth, they are recompiled to be valid.
    a. To create data masking format:
    1. Login to 12c Cloud Control
    2. Expand the Enterprise drop down menu
    3. select Quality Management, then Data Masking Formats
    4. Click on "Create" to go to the Create Format" Page
    5. In the page displayed, enter the necessary details to create Format:
       a. General Information:
             Name: Name of the Format
Sensitive Column Type: Select a column type the list
             Description: Description of Format
       b. Format Entries: Select a format from the drop down list, then click Go.
In the page displayed, select the list of values and click OK
Optionally specify the name of a post-processing function
       c. Click OK to create the Data Masking Format
    b. To create data masking definition:
    1. Login to 12c Cloud Control
    2. Expand the Enterprise drop down menu
    3. select Quality Management, then Data Masking Definitions
    4. Click on "Create" to go to the Create Masking Definition page
    5. In the page displayed, enter the necessary details to create masking definition :
        a. General Information:
Name: Name of the Masking definition
Application Data Model: Provide required Application Data Model(ADM) name from the list
Reference Database: Provide required database name
Description: Description of data masking definition
        b. Workloads: Check Ensure Workload Masking Compatibility if you want to mask Capture files and SQL Tuning Sets. This is optional
        c. Columns: Click Add to go to the Add Columns page, where you can choose which sensitive columns in the ADM you want to mask.
        d. Data Masking Options: Expand Show Advanced Options and decide whether the selected default data masking options are satisfactory (Optional)
        e. Click OK to create Data Masking Definition
    c. Performing the Masking Operation
        1. From the Data Masking Definitions page, click Generate Script. The Script Generation Results page appears, which shows the list of database commands to be used to mask the selected columns

  • How to make the new artistic brushes not be offset to the cursor?

    Hi there!
I just upgraded to cs6 and have found everything to be great except for an offset problem I'm having with the artisan brushes like Round Point Stiff.
In CS5 the paint position (precise point) was in the middle of the brush tip icon.. now it's off to the opposite side of the brush icon. See image example.
I've tried to change my brush tip settings and Ive tried to make do with just using the precise icon instead but not knowing the rotation and angle of the brush witht he visual icon is very hard to pinpoint, especially if the stroke happens off to the left of my precise cursor.
    In CS6
    In CS5
Is there something I need to enable on my end or is this working as intended? Is there a way I can just hack it on m y end to revert it back to the way cs5 (and the rest of the brushes in the brush folder) work?
    Thanks!

  • How to make previous version documents(CS1 and CS3) without extension  readable in InDesign CS5

I have some previous version documents of CS1 and CS3  on Mac  which have been saved without any extension e.g 300, CS3doc etc.
When I open such documents in InDesign CS5 they appear to be unreadable .  Only on  selecting 'All documents' filter  I am able to open those documents.
I want to make all such documents (which are without extension) readable with 'All Readable Documents ' also .
How I can do that, please  help me !!!!!

The first thing I'd do is make sure the issue is really what I suspect it is - i.e. I suspect your extension-less documents don't have the proper type and creator.
If you fire up a Terminal window, you should be able to use the GetFileInfo command to check one of the files:
Assume 'sampleFile' is sitting on your desktop, you'd do
    GetFileInfo ~/Desktop/sampleFile
(not sure when/whether GetFileInfo is installed on a Mac - I think it used to be part of Apple's developer tools, but on my Snow Leopard it resides in /usr/bin)
Check what it says for 'type' and 'creator'.
If these are not correct, we've confirmed that that's the reason why they don't show up in your file dialog.
If the issue is type/creator related, I can think of the following options:
    a) Change your code to accept ANY file type/extension - I suspect this would work (not tested!):
    openFileDialog->AddType( '????' );
If memory serves right, '????' should be accepted as a wildcard.
    b) correct the file types BEFORE they are viewed in the File Dialog - for example, if these files are in a very specific folder somewhere, you might be able to scan the folder, and correct their type and creator (e.g. iterate through all extensionless files in folder 'xyz' and change their type and creator). A lot depends on how those files get there, and whether they are tied to a specific folder or not - are they 'old' files, or are they being generated in some workflow? If they're all over a user's system or all over a file server, such pre-scanning and cleaning up file types approach will be a no-go.
    Cheers,

Download the CS6 SDK. Under the "open" folder you will find the code for the LinksUI panel. This is the closest you will get to a multicolumn list box in C++, if you want to stay in C++.
The tree view widget support dynamic load of sub nodes in a tree. Also it will only request widgets to drawn when they are in view (as far as I remember).

  • Can i adjust pressure sensitivity options for tools other then paint brush?

Greetings all, i'm new to Photoshop elements and this forum, could someone help me with this problem please!!!!!!
Is there a way to adjust the pressure sensitve options opacity, scatter, hue jitter e.t.c for tools other then the paint brush such as the dodge and burn tool?
I'm wanting to use the dodge and burn tools with say a chalk brush but set the pressure sensitivity of my tablet to opacity, i can do this for the paint brush by using the tablet options drop down menu but the option doesn't seem to be avaiable for  tools such as the eraser, dodge and burn and smudge tools.
I've tryed the brushes from the Pressure Sensitive set but there is no chalk brush in the Pressure Sensitive brush set that effects opacity and you can't adjust what settings are effected for each pressure sensitive brush when using tools other then the Paint Brush.
Can anyone help me with this as i've tryed everything i can think of.

I guess the easiest way would be to select the paint brush tool
and using the brush of your choice, set those options you want
    and save the brush.
Then when you select a tool such as the burn tool, select your brush.
The one option that won't apply is the hue jitter (you can't use hue jitter or
color dynamics in the full version of photoshop either for most other tools
    aside from the brush tool)
