How to make a session with attributes

session = request.getSession(true);
session.setAttribute("ip", ip);
//then i redirect to this page

String naamj = (String)session.getValue("naam");

but it does not seem to work the string naamj doesn't have any value? why??

First, .jsp's can use the variable session directly. There is no reason to get it from the request.
Second, if you say session.setAttribute("aName", someValue);and later callsession.getAttribute("aName");it will return the object represented by someValue, but you must typecast it to the right class to use it properly.
