How to make an mp3

Instead of sending a song to itunes as an .m4a how do you send one as an .mp3.......or can you convert it in itunes?

Under name and extension, change the .m4a to .mp3.
This is complete nonsense - mp3 and m4a are different compression algorithms, you can't turn one into the other by renaming it.

  • Can someone point me to a "how to make enhanced mp3 podcast" link?

I went to one called MAKE:blog but is was just to hard to decipher. I am sure there is more then one source for this on the net, problem is i cant find one. thanks

For starters, I do not believe you can make enhanced MP3 podcasts. I'm pretty sure the podcast needs to be in AAC format, not MP3.
Secondly... I've never actually heard of this being done on the Windows platform. Any enhanced podcast I've worked on was created on a Mac. I'm not even sure that there is Windows software that will allow the creation of an enhanced AAC podcast. Maybe such software exists... who knows?

  • How to make an MP3 no longer a podcast?

If an MP3 is downloaded as a podcast, how can I make it so it is not flagged in iTunes as a podcast?
For example, even if I change it's genre, drag the MP3 out of iTunes, delete the subcription, and drag the MP3 back in to my library it still creates an entry on the Podcasts page and lists the file.
Obviously, it appears, Apple has added something like a hidden ID3 tag that marks it as a podcast. Short of resampling the file in another application, I'd like to find a way to remove that podcast flag.

One place it's flagged as podcast is in the iTunes Music Library.xml file.
If you know XML you might be able to change it, but it's probably in the iTunes Library.itl file, too. That might mess up iTunes.
Sorry, don't know how to change it - but it doesn't seem to be an ID3 tag.

  • How can I convert m4p's or ACC files to MP3s so I can make a mp3 Disk?

Trying to make a mp3 disk for my Bose Wave system with all my jazz tunes, figured it would be nice to have all the music on one disk instead of multiples. However, the files I have are not mp3 format. How can I make my Jazz playlist songs mp3 format so I can burn it to disk? I have a 20" imac G5 with the latest itunes.
    Thanks for your help!
    Aaron

    Aaron
If they are Protected AAC's purchased from the iTunes Music Store it is against the Apple Licence to convert them, if you want help ask elsewhere. if they are AAC's imported onto your Mac using iTunes instead, then you can convert them using iTunes by going to preferences and the advanced tab, then choose the importing sub-tab and change the format to MP3 Encoder, then simply select the songs in your Jazz playlist you want to convert and Ctrl Click of them and choose the convert to MP3 option, you will then have MP3's you can put on an MP3 CD. - The only problem is the quality may be noticably worse. As you say you have a Bose Wave System which sounds quite good this may be a problem for you...
The better solution (though unfortunately more expensive ) would be to buy an iPod of some sort and connect that up to the Bose Wave system, I know nothing about your stereo but you can buy an cable which plugs into the top of your ipod for less than £5 ($8-9) to connect up to your stereo either through the phono ports at the back or if it has a special MP3 player input you could connect the iPod up at the front. The iPod would also be able to play any protected AAC's you had downloaded from iTunes too.

  • How can I make music (mp3) play automatically in one Scene (NO buttons)?

How can I make an mp3 play automatically in one Scene (NO buttons)? I have been searching the net for answers for over 10 hours with no answer... My movie will not be for the web, it needs to be portable (CD or flash drive)...
    PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!
    thank you!

You just need to look in Help for the Sound class and possibly SoundChannel... if you have an MP3 in your library - right click it, and go to properties. Set the sound to export for ActionScript - and give it a class name - mySound will work. Then you can make it play with something as simple as:
    var a:SoundChannel = new mySound().play();

  • How can I copy mp3 files from my Itunes library to an SD card for use in a non-apple phone?

How can I copy mp3 files from my Itunes library to an SD card for use in a non-apple phone?  I can physically copy the tunes as mp3's but the phone does not seem to be able to play all of them.   Do I need to copy an entire album or can I just pick & choose individual songs?   The phone is question is an LG running who knows what for an operating system.

AAC is Advanced Audio Coding.  Basically it's a format that sounds better than MP3 but doesn't take up as much space as a lossless format (like you'd have on a CD).  More than likely you've had that encoding turned on when you ripped your music into itunes (it's the default encoder).  Therefore your LG phone won't play them.
You need to turn off the AAC format by going to the iTunes menu, Preferences, General (at the top), then clicking the "Import Preferences" button.  Change the AAC Encoder to MP3 Encoder.  After that you'll have to make MP3 copies of your songs by right clicking them and selecting "Create MP3 Version."  You'll get a copy of the song that should transfer to your SD card and have MP3 encoding.  Hopefully your phone will play that.

  • How to make a slide show or edition including mpeg and other formats

    Hi,
I am i bit puzzled by the use of iphoto/imovie/itunes.
I have a Sony camera which generates jpg photos and mpg videos; besides, i have 3gp and mp4 videos from cell phones.
Firstly, i imported all of them to iphoto. I used a automator workflow to help importing from hotsynced Palm centro files, to discover the first problem with the 3gp files: they could not be iported by workflows.
Still, they could be seen in iphoto, but then i tried to make a slide show. My idea was to put the photos and videos of a certain event to be watched together, or at least to be able to watch the videos in a sequence, without having to click on each one.
I didnt get it in iphoto, so i switched to imovie. it was even worse, since it cannot import the mpgs and the 3gps (the jpg photos were ok). What could i do about that? is there any converter or other way?
then i tried the itunes, and it was the opposite: it imported and played in sequence the mpg videos, but not the photos. This is a workaround anyway, since the program expects to play movies, and makes my daughter a "star", but that`s ok, she is one to me.
i'll be thankful for hints on how to make the imovie compatible with the 3gp and mpgs, or finding some way to do this edition in iphoto or even with itunes.
    regards

I see, it sounds reasonable , i think i will buy the pro and try.
QT Pro ($30) and MPEG Streamclip (free) complement each other. In many cases one can do things that the other cannot. For instance, MPEG Stramclip can handle/edit multiplexed formats while QT Pro cannot. QT Pro allows layering of data tracks while Streamclip does not. Streamclip merges file streams more easily than QT Pro but QT Pro allows the "Movie to MPEG-4" export to "passthrough" the video while Streamsclip does not. And so on and so forth...
I was referring to the mpegs from the Sony camera, of which a have hundreds, shot in the last 3 or 4 years, mainly from my 5-year old daughter. Is the above true to these?
That still doesn't help. By "sony camera," are you referring to a still digital camera (multiplexed MPEG-1) or a Sony video camcorder taking MPEG-4/AVCHD with AC3 audio in an MPEG wrapper, a Sony DVD/HDD camera storing some kind of MPEG-2/AC3 files. On a Mac, the extension MPG normally refers multiplexed MPEG-1 (or MPEG-1 audio layer) files while MPEG normally refers to multiplexed MPEG-2 video content with MPEG-1, layer 2 audio (MPEG2/MP2) but may also refer to files with MP3 or AC3 files in an MPEG, VOB, or TS wrapper. In addition it may loosely refer to elementary M2V video streams (M2V video file paired with a separate AIFF or AC3 file), a standard MPEG4/AAC file (in an MOV or MP4 wrapper) or a standard H.264/AAC file in MOV, MP4, or M4V wrapper). Since the handling, conversion, editing requirements vary with each type of file, it becomes important to what specific kind of content/file container we are dealing with here.

  • How to make iTunes read the song's name/singer from the file's name itself?

    Hi everyone,
So I have this file with songs from everywhere. I spent quite some time now to make sure that the structure of each file's name is as such : "Singer - Song name", hoping that everything would be read by iTunes accordingly. However, either iTunes read it well, or it didn't read it at all ("Singer - Song name" appearing in Title alone), or iTunes read the "media" of the file (ie. what the guy I downloaded it from wrote for it in the Preferences, which usually is in capital letters or with a bunch of weird underscores). As I'm OCD and need everything to be neat, I'm highly tensed right now. I really want everything to be neat and clear!
So, how do I make sure that iTunes reads the files' names such that it knows the structure is "Singer - Song name"? Thanks.

iTunes doesn't use file names to determine how music appears in your library,  Rather, it uses metadata that is split between:
data elements that are embedded within the media files
data elements that are included in the entries in the iTunes database
No amount of reorganization, renaming or other manipulation at the file level will make any difference to how songs will appear in iTunes.  Using your example:
the value of the track number element is 1
the value of the artist element is "Elvis Presley"
the value of the song name element is "Blue Suede Shoes"
Depending on how you configure iTunes then the file name is either:
completely independent of iTunes (i.,e., the file containing this song could be xyz.mp3)
dependent on the metadata managed by iTunes, (i.e., when you have these two options set:
then iTunes will set the file name to be 1-01 Blue Suede Shoes.mp3 where:
the file is in a folder called "Elvis Presley" (the name of the album)
that folder is in one called "Elvis Presley" (the name of the artist) which is in iTunes Media\Music
Going back to your question "How to make iTunes read the song's name/singer from the file's name" the answer is simple - you can't, as this is not how iTunes works.  There are some third-party utilities that you can use to set some metadata element values based on parsing of file names which might be a useful first step.  However, to use iTunes effectively you should really forget about / ignore file names - manage your media using appropriate metadata and allow iTunes to look after file names behind the scenes.

  • How to make iTunes detect the new location of music files?

Hi everyone. I moved all of my music to a different location on my hard drive, and I changed the location in iTunes preferences, but it doesn't seem to detect this, so my library is empty now. I saved an itl, xml, and temp file as well, but I don't know what to do from here.
I also tried dragging the new music folder onto the "Library" entry in iTunes, and this added everything, but I no longer have my ratings, playlists or anything like that.
Is there some other way to have iTunes detect the new location? And can I get back my ratings and playlists?
    Thanks.

  • How to create a mp3 playlist compatable with the media server (storage link)

    Hi,
I have setup the wrt160nl wireless router with the latest Firmware Version: 1.00.01 B17.
Everything is working great. I can browse the artists, albums, song titles etc from my usb hard disk.
What isn't working is the play lists.
What format does the play list need to be in?
I assume a text file with the tracks listed like: \music\acdc\back in black.mp3
What file extention or name will the playlist need to be in?
My pnp player only sees two playlists:
    1) playlistlastplayed
    2) playlistmostplayed
If I knew where those play lists were stored on the usb hard drive (or linksys internal ram?) then I might have a clue.....
Thanks for any help on this.

Playlistlastplayed has every track on the hard disk - and I haven't played them all, only like 3
Playlistmostplayed has ONLY 1 track that I haven't played from the linksys upnp server at all
I can play music off the album, artist and song lists fine.
I'd just like to be able to use a play list, and can't seem to find out how to make one.
I realize and understand that the linksys storage link system doesn't create them.
I assume I can make my own text file with track listings and copy the play list to the usb hard drive attached.
I just need to know the format of the text file, and what extention will it need.
    I have tried .m3u .m3u8 .wpl
I don't have iTunes but if you told me I have to download that, import my music into that, then create the playlist there, well, I guess I could try that. I rather not load iTunes if possible.
    Thanks
