Question

can you please advise
I have copied over my entire MP3 music collection into I tunes to put on to my Ipod Touch 64gb
will the MP3 files be automatically converted to the required AAC files to import onto my IPOD or do i have to do that manually ?
can i  convert my library before exporting to save time as im assuming moving 50 gig of music and converting each track to AAC file via a standard apple data cable is going to take forever and a day ?
is there a way to convert your library in one go..rather than album at a time ?
and lastly when my library had finished converting..i was left with a whole pile of WMA tracks that were left in just pile of tracks and not in albums if i convert these files to MP3 and then reimport them into itunes...will they be automatically integrated into the correct albums that they came from..I sincerely hope so because i don't want to be left with a load of random tracks imported into I tunes because there is at least couple of hundred of them.

You don't have to do anything; MP3 files are fully supported by iTunes and iDevices.  The AAC/m4a format is used by the iTunes Store and is the default for imports for CD, but is not required for use in iTunes.

See above.  All you need to do is import your media, either in one step (which will take a while for 50Gb, even though that's not a particularly large library), or in groups, e.g., all songs/albums by each artist.  Any of the following methods can be used:
Drag and drop from your current media folders to the iTunes window
Select File > Add Folder to Library (press Ctrl-B in iTunes to enable the menu bar if you don't see it) and select the folder(s) containing the media you want to support
Copy your media file to the Automatically Add to iTunes folder within your iTunes Media folder (typically found within C:\Users\username\Music\iTunes) - if iTunes is running this will automatically start the import process, otherwise it'll be initiate when you next start iTunes

iTunes originally did not support WMA files (it being a Microsoft proprietary format).  However, recent versions (maybe just iTunes 12) will convert the WMA files as they are imported.  By default they'll be converted to .m4a (AAC) files - though this can be changed by choosing another format through Edit > Preferences > General and clicking the Import Settings button. You'll get a prompt like this:

No.  The symptoms you describe suggest that some of your media files don't have the necessary metadata ("tags") that hold information about artist, title, album, etc.  If you find the original WMA files and (in Windows Explorer) right-click > Properties > Details tab you'll see whether any of these elements are present.  If not, then you will need to go through the process (either in iTunes or in a 3rd party tool - I use foobar2000 when faced with this situation) of creating the tags manually.  If you do see the expected info in the properties of the original WMA files - something like this:
then there may be some inconsistency or incompatibility between these and the way that iTunes expects to handle them.  My assumption, though, is that you'll find that the tags are missing - and, unfortunately, there is no "automagic" way to fix this and correctly group tracks into albums without manual intervention
