• How to make an icon image using Photoshop

I found out how to do this recently so I decided that I wanted to make a tut for those who don't know how to make an icon image. This icon image is for the libraries tab on your computer. Under the libararies tab there is Music, Pictures, Documents, and Photos
First you will need the ICO (Icon image format) Format extension for photoshop which can be downloaded here:
http://www.telegraphics.com.au/svn/icoformat/trunk/dist/README.html
The download link and tutorial on how to install it is all in the link above.
Once you have that all set you can now launch photoshop to create your icon image. Once you have launched it, create a new document with the size as in the image below.

Create the image you want. I used a simple one by using the custom shape tool by pressing "U" on your keyboard and with the
basic blending options.

The reason why the image is pixelated is because it is an icon image. Since the image is only 256x256 pixels when you zoom in on it that will get you the pixely result. The reason why I zoomed  in is so you can see it. But don't worry this is no the end result. Just continue reading and you will see.
So once you have created the icon go ahead and press
file>save as>(under format choose the ICO)>and choose the name that you want to name it. And save it in your C: drive. You will see why to save it in your C: drive in a sec.

So now that you have created the icon and saved it now you can create the new library.

Name the library whatever you want I named it "Sample" for tutorial purposes. Notice how it gives you a default boring icon image for your library.

So now once you have created and named your library now it is time to get the icon image into place.
Go to computer/c: Drive/users/YOU/ And now once you have reached this area you will need to access a hidden folder named "appdata" to do so press "Alt" then a menu bar will show. Click
tools>folder options>and view. Find the option to view hidden folders then press apply then ok. Now we shall continue so AppData>Roaming>Microsoft>Windows>Libraries
Now you should see all the libraries including the one you just created.

Once you have reached your destination then open a new text document with notepad and drag the library you just created in notepad. The result should look like this:

once you have reached this point click at the end of the second to last line down then press enter and enter in this information
<iconReference>c:\"NAME OF ICO FILE YOU CREATED IN PS".ico</iconReference>
Example:

Once you have entered that information go to file>save and the icon image should appear on the library you created.

Now you are officially finished. Go and spread the news and joy. Bye for now
-Dusty951512

It is Windows only because all those screen shots are exclusively Windows, the file structure and paths do not resemble those of the Mac in the least.  As a Mac user, there's nothing I could take from your tutorial.  Sorry,
No drives named with letters like C: on the Mac, for instance.  No backward slashes either, ever.  No such paths either.  No "Notepad" on the Mac, we use TextEdit; but such a text editor is not remotely needed on the Mac to make and/or edit icons.  Etc.
Those folders are not even called "Libraries" on the Mac…  Nothing resembling your tutorial at all.
The icons in the Finder's Sidebar are not customizable at all in recent version of OS X.

how to make other people image more beautiful?

Well I think this is a good topic that has a lot of possibilities, I understand the OP is seemingly being vague but I think perhaps it might be grammatical more then lack of content.
<br />
<br />But there are techniques and different approaches to capturing the best qualities of the subject especially those of the human subject.

<br />
<br />the best way to go about this is post an image that you took of someone that you think can be improved and we can share with you techniques and ideas about equipment that you might like to have to help you achieve what you want to achieve.

<br />Her you save the image as a jpeg about 600 to 700 pixels on the longest length the go to this link
<br />

• HT203909 Why can't you provide specific instructions here about how to make the USB drive bootable?  The article referenced is not dedicated to Bootcamp--too long, too many options.  How do you make it bootable?

Why can't you provide specific instructions here in HT203909 (Boot Camp: Creating an ISO image from a Windows installation DVD) about how to make the USB drive bootable?  The article referenced for partitioning the drive is not dedicated to Bootcamp--too long, too many options.  How do you make it bootable?

If your BC Assistant shows the option to create a USB Installer, it automatically is marked as bootable. There is no need to have manual intervention to make a bootable USB. Once the process is manually modified, it is supported by the person modifying it.
You have two or three options (depending on your Mac Model).
1. Create USB... - Use a USB2 flash drive, which is erased and formatted. If your Mac supports ISOs then BCA will prompt for the Media. Any Mac which does not have a built-in Optical drive will support an ISO. There are specific Mac models which support both, DVD and USB based installation.
2. Download Software from Apple servers...
3. Install Windows...
Are any additional instructions really necessary?

• How to make any object self-shining?

hi,
i guess thats an easy question, but i dont know where to look for the answer.
so how to make any object self-shining like the infamous colorcube, so that one does not need to place any light?
and am I right in my assumption that doing so will reduce the need of rendering power, since lights dont have to be computed?
thanx,
Usul

I'm not sure what you mean here- if your object is lit then lighting will need to be calculated. If you don't want shapes to be lit, I think you can disable it by calling setLightingEnable(false) in their materials.

• How to make high resolution image?

Hi All, I am in an urgent requirement where I have few .tif images. There size is very high. When I am uploading, there resolution is not good and they are automatically converted to jpg.
Can some one tell me "How to make this image high resolution image" Is there any setting or tips and tricks?
Reply immidiatly,

The original image is in MDM. I think what you may be getting confused by is the thumbnail view. The thumbnail view is automatically generated to give you just a low res view of the original from within MDM, likely for the sake of performance.
If you go to the Images table and right click on the image and select "view original" you will see that the high res original that was loaded is still there. You can also create image variants through the Console to generate other versions of the original to use for web or print. I don't think you can change the defaults used for the thumbnail.

• How to make a background image appear to grow slowly as text happens front

How do I make a background image which is simply a static image of Earth in space "seem to grow closer" by just slowly enlarging the image as text appears in front of it? Can't seem to find anything intuitive on how to accomplish this. I'm sure it's simple but I just can't seem to wrap my brain around it.

Double click your image to load it into the viewer. On the top of the viewer are 3 tabs, select the one that says "Motion." Inside of this tab you can animate any video or still image. For what you are wanting to do the Scale option will be the place to start. I think Scale is pretty self-explanatory, but just in case...click the keyframe button and type in a number for the scale (like 90). Scrub down a bit with the playhead and type in a new number next to scale (like 175). A new keyframe is created and you have yourself a zoom in.

• How to make fonts and image sharp?

I download Federation, Halo fonts and they have jaggy edges. Image is a an gif, but doesn't look sharp! Am I suppose to configure Livetype, how to make it sharp?
Thank You
Luis

The easiest method is to type Command + and that will make make the image larger. However you can also go to System Preferences - Displays and adjust the display resolution too. Finally, you can use Mavericks zoom capabilities as explained in:

• How to make a rollover image, but not for a button

Hello,
I should probably not care so much about this, but I'm
wondering how to make an image have a rollover state without making
it a clickable button. See the link below, and when it all loads,
move your mouse over the "go home" button at the bottom. I'd like
for that rollover to happen but without the little "link hand"
showing up, you know? I know how to do this in html but I'm new to
flash so I'd love it if somebody here could help me out. Thanks!

• How to make a disk image of a DVD to Playback in IDVD Player?

Is there a way to make a disk image of a DVD so I can play it with IDVD Player? I made a DVD image from Disk Utility and got a .dmg file, I then copied the contents of the DVD to the image. iDVD doesn't recognize it. So I then converted this image to a DVD/CD Master .cdr file with Disk Utility, but this isn't recognized by iDVD either. I am running OS 10.4.11.

One can burn a disc image thru iDvd or apple's disc utility but it is Not possible to play a disc image thru iDvd to the best of my knowledge. However a disc image burned thru iDvd will play exactly like a typical dvd when apple's dvd player app is used for playback. You may need to navigate to the video_ts folder (w/in the disc image) in order to play the image.

• How to make a working IMAGE ofperfect system? What program to use? NoRestor

OK, being a PC guy (sigh) I am used to system restore.
A few things. The other day for no reason iDVD stopped playing sound, for the life of me I could not fix it, garage band played fine....as well as Logic Express, but no for iDVD which leads me to this. I had to reinstall OS and all the software again.
Is there something similar to system restore?
Or, how does one make a working copy of his/her image when it is working great and then use that for the re-install.
I assume from the tiger disc this is where you say use recover image or something like that. What programs (if there is no restore) are there for making a working image of your system? Will toast do it? I don't want a toast image but a DMG image.....after I install FC, iWork, iLife, Garage loops, where looking at 30GB at least, but will do it if it means the next time something goes wrong instead of reinstalling all I have to do is mount this recoverable image!
Thanks again!

Here's what I do. This is my backup routine - seriously.
- Get Info on your main drive, copy down the # of bytes used. Divide by 1024 then by 1024 again. This gives you the number of MB used on your system
- Open Disk Utility. Select FILE > New...> Blank Disk Image
- from the size drop down, select Custom, then enter the MB number you calculated plus about 0.2.
- Save as read/write, no encryption, to an external drive (firewire is more reliable in my experience but USB should work) - use a descriptive name so you know it's a backup. If your image is big, this will take a while as D.Util. writes a file the same size as your main drive.
- Your new disk image will show up in Disk Utility. Verify the bytes available is more than the bytes on your main drive (highlight them in turn and look at the info at the bottom of the D.Util. window)
- Now click the Restore button. Drag your main drive into the Source slot and the mounted disk image into the destination slot. No need to erase destination because you just overwrote those bytes creating the contiguous .DMG file.
- Click Restore and go watch a movie.
When D.U. is done your main drive will now be in a .dmg file. To get your drive back, boot from the install CD, select D.U. from the Utilities menu, restore from the image (click the Image button on the restore screen to mount and browse external drives). This time you put the mounted image file in the source and your main drive in the destination slot. Watch another movie.
I suggest you test this between external drives first in case you think it's black magic. You can then boot from the second restored drive to verify that yes indeed it's a perfect clone and it's bootable (need FW drives since you can't boot from USB). If your restore doesn't work just remember your backup is on that .dmg file and don't give up. But I've never had a problem (knocking on my wooden head).
This is my routine once a month. Between times I backup just changed files as needed. I also have a "clean" configuration of my laptop from the last time I wiped it and re-installed all my apps. That process took 2 days, but when I restore the clean it takes maybe an hour - much better than finding all my disks and serial numbers again, and wasting 2 days.
Let us know if this is helpful,

• How to make audio cd images in leopard?

I'm not trying to duplicate music. much of my music doesnt have album art and track info. its stored as mp3 in itunes. itunes refuses to pull up track info as they were not imported by it. so what i am trying to do is make audio cd copies of it and then reimport it to itunes. now, i have like 2000 songs. burning an actual disk would be a pain. in windows i would normally use nero to make an audio cd 'image' which can be mounted into a virtual drive.
using disk utility i figured out how disk images of cd and dvd sizes can be made but the burn disk option (in itunes) only shows the super drive burner to burn an audio cd image to. any help?

This hardly clears my doubt, however, my point stands, if the info is NOT in an MP3, burning it to a disc OR creating a CD image is NOT going to help you (or iTunes) find the unique CD ID and get the missing info. NO, NO, NO
There's no "unique CD ID". All iTunes does is look at the number and the length of each track on the CD, and measure that against what's in the online database. The closest match is offered up. If there's nothing close, then nothing is offered up.
I took a vinyl record and imported the whole thing as an AIFF file. I chopped up the tracks into little bits, and then used Toast to burn the results to a CD. iTunes recognized it as a commercial CD release of the same album, and downloaded the correct artwork and all the track names. I was blown away the first time it happened, and it has happened again several more times with various old vinyl albums.
It hasn't worked every time, but it has worked enough times for me to believe that the OP will have luck with his .mp3 files if he can burn them into a playlist that closely resembles the original commercial CD.
