Some wireless routers have USB ports specifically intended to share peripherals such as printers and external hard drives. Check your wireless router manual.
Many new printers with built-in WiFi are quite inexpensive, especially compared to the cost of a set of ink cartridges! Canon Direct also sells refurbished recent printers from their website, often at substantial discounts. I recently purchased a refurbished MG5320 for $50. It may be time to invest in a new printer.

How to make Canon printers work with Snow Leopard

Can anyone explain simple language (I'm not technical which is why I chose Apple) how I can get my Canon MP 980 printer/scanner to work with Snow Leopard.
Everything used to work perfectly and I'm beginning to regret the upgrade to Snow Leopard (what other suprises are waiting for me when I'm in a hurry?).
I have other Canon printers in various locations (MP 600, MP 530 and iP90). Will I have similar problems with all of them and, if so, is there a simple way to resolve the issues across the board?
I checked the Canon web-site but was totally confused

The driver version should be: 10.26.1.0 (or greater)

If after installing the most-up-to-date driver, via the link provided, the issue persists, reset the printing system.
How-to reset the printing system:

Then install the printing driver supplied by Canon on Apples website here:

If that still does not work, reset the printing system again. Now go to Canon's website and get the driver(s) for mac there.

There is the possibility the drivers on canon's website could be newer than apples. The version numbers, size of file to download, and release date all appear to be quite different.

+I do not own the same printer+, however I would suggest installing some of or all of the following 3 drivers.
If your printing via USB:
MP980 series CUPS Printer Driver Ver. 10.26.2.0 (Mac OS X 10.5/10.6)
If your printing via a Networked Printer:
MP980 series MP Driver Ver.1.0 for Network (Mac OS X 10.6)
If your going to use the scanner:
MP980 series Scanner Driver Ver. 14.8.2 (Mac OS X 10.3/10.4/10.5/10.6)
If you scroll down further, past the 'drivers', that same website from Canon also includes step-by-step guides/manuals for setting up the printer/scanner, both via USB & WiFi.
If the steps above did not resolve the issue, please respond back.

How to make Canon specific EXIF metadata visible in LR?

Hi
I love LR but it excludes some fields of EXIF metadata that are provided by Canon's propietary raw converter. I am sure that there must be a way to make these visible inside LR so one can filter and create smart collections based on these metadata.
What is the best way to achieve this? A plug-in? Any additional info?

your best bet is to go into device manager and look for network connections and update your WIfi drivers to win 8 ( 32 or 64 bit), resart Win 10 and see if you can connect to the router. Thus far I have "upgraded" 3 of my machines to Win 10 and no driver issues so far. Actually, very impress at how painless the upgrade has been.

To add to Frank's advice, you can use KB 86325, eMac: How to locate the serial number and identify your model to determine which eMac you have. Using the nomenclature of that article:
The "eMac (2005)", "eMac (USB 2.0)", and "eMac (ATI Graphics)" require the AirPort Extreme card.
The "eMac" requires the original AirPort card.

How to make the strength of my powerbook wireless stronger?

hi, im using powerbook g4 12inch and my friend is using ibook.
my problem is she can get stronger signal than mine. for instance, she can get 4 networks and i only have one or none network listed. and another example is that she could get full range 4/4 and mine is only like 2/4?
i hope you can help me solve this problem because im using alot of wireless for my projects. and this disturbs me because even in my home i have trouble connecting in the kitchen when my router is at my bedroom nearby!
anyway, i read somewhere that the support people ask a guy to open the network/airport card and do something like pressing it for 10sec?? and his airport card is stronger than before (he claims), but he did not provide enough details, info for the procedure. so i thought i might get more help here?

Perhaps the advice was to make sure that the cable or card is firmly connected/seated. Here's some documentation on how to do that.
Historically, iBooks have had better AirPort reception than metallic PowerBooks due to the signal travelling better through plastic than titanium or aluminum. My 12" PowerBook has little plastic edges to allow better reception. I don't recall when these were added.
Right now, I'm able to connect to my router in my bedroom from the living room. In the past, it was pretty spotty, but I think an update fixed that. I can also see several nearby wireless networks.

I am wondering how to make my mac sleep while this wireless-sharing setting is enabled?
Since I have enabled this setting, the mac will not sleep, however, the mac will sleep when I disable it.
I am also wondering ; [if it is possible to make the mac sleep while this setting is enabled], can I still use the mac as a wireless router even while it is asleep?
Or does it need to be awake to function as a router?

Yes, I kind of thought what you are saying would be the case.
It makes "sense" that when the computer is asleep, so are all it's functions,
but I *WISH* there was an option to keep the airport functioning even while the computer is asleep.
Bob, I don't think having the OPTION to leave the airport on while mac sleeps would defeat the power-saving feature of the computer (:
I know the "best" way to share wifi is with a router, but for me, a router just another piece of plastic I don't need. All I need to do is share wifi in a small space [my room] from my mac to my iPad and ipod touch.
I like to use my ipad as a reader, and when I am reading, I may be sitting down for many hours just reading from the ipad. It doesn't make sense to leave the mac running during these long periods just for a wireless signal, so I may sadly buy a router ):

I cannot use the software.. so you need to figure out where the problem is..
But let me suggest.. the Mac is not the issue and likely the info from Sony is also up the creek.. they make PC's after all.
It is far more likely the camera is having issues with the wireless network.
Do you know you have a connection to the home network on the camera.. ?? You have an IP address and some internet or local access at least?
How you will discover those things is by fiddling.. but if you can tell me what wireless AP you are using that will help.

How to switch b/t wireless & direct connection

My Ibook is happily printing wirelessly to a Canon Pixma ip3000 but I can not access the printer utility. I was going to try connecting directly into my Ibook's USB but I'm not sure how to make the switch. Just plugging it in doesn't work. Is there some setting I have to change if it was previously using Airport? I just want the direct connection occasionally and I do want to mess up my Airport connection so I can go back when I'm done.

Add the printer twice in the Printer Setup Utility, once as the Airport printer and once as a USB printer.
Then the utility should work when you are plugged in via USB.
