How to make deleted areas stay deleted?

When I delete an area using the marquee and delete or backspace key, then drag the image into another blank file, the deleted portion returns. Also when I use the Crop command (instead of the Crop Tool), the same thing happens. How do I get Photoshop to really delete something?

Thanks for the quick reply. Sorry about not including the vital statistics. I'm using Photoshop CS5 (version 12.1) 64 bit on Windows 7 with 4 MGs of RAM. I am using tabbed windows, I think. I usually open several files then go to the Arrange Documents icon at the top of the screen and select the layout I want, like 2 Up. I then grab one using the Move Tool (V) and drag and drop it into the adjacent document. The problem is all the deleted areas return when I do this. I did not use the Crop Tool (which has a choice of Hide or Delete cropped areas). I either use the marquee and choose Image > Crop, or just select an area with the marquee and hit either the Delete key or the Backspace key. I tried your suggestion of turning off Auto Select for the Move Tool but it didn't affect it. I also tried Duplicate Layer but the deleted portions returned with that too. It does it whether there is a single layer or many layers in the file. And no duplicate layers are in the file. This happens all the time. I don't know if it's my work flow or Photoshop just behaving extremely illogical. When you delete something it should stay deleted. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

When I delete a photo from a page, it does not stay in the assets panel. My client uses in browser editing daily. Once a week he changes a photo just for a day, then needs the previous photo to replace it. The original photo is not in the asset panel (or folder) for him to choose.
When you upload a photo, it has an arrow in the asset panel. How do you use this as an asset?

You will have to be a little more specific about account assignment. Not sure what kind of document you are concerned about.
For G/L accounts, the account assignment (Field Statu groups) is done in customizing under SPRO -> Finacial accounting -> Document -> Line Item -> Maintain Field Status Variant. The settings for the fields to be displayed can be maintained here.
You need to know the field status variant used for the account. This can be found in transaction FS00 under the create/bank/interest tab. You can also reach the maintenance transaction for the variant by double clicking on it.

Everything works so far, the hover works when you roll the
mouse but when you click the button goes right back.

This is not possible with the latest Skype 7.0 version. The typing area will only expand vertically when entering a new line of text.
If you prefer the old Skype style, then uninstall the 7.0 version and install the previous 6.21.0.104 version.

But you can use validation functionality to validate the master data before you save.

How do I make my texts stay deleted?, How do I make my texts stay deleted?

I was looking at my usage and it said I had 11 gb of memory used up by my texts, which is a bit rediculous. However, everytime I try to delete my texts I lose the ability to send and recieve texts messages. Upon turning my phone and and off again all the texts come back. I've tried backing up my phone after deleting all of my texts and still no luck. I've also tried turning messages off of spotlight and deleting and I do not use iCloud. I dont know what else to do. I'd prefer not to use a 3rd party program to delete my texts because I'm a little wary of it but if enough people suggest it and theres no other fix I'll probably end up trying it. Has anyone else had this problem and been able to fix it? Has there been a fix in a new 7 update? I still have 7.0.

I use the bash shell when logged in over SSH and I always set the following alias just in case I do something stupid:

By default JDS file browser "deletes" files to the trash can - a la windoze Recycle bin 8-( -
so it doesn't feel the need to double check as you can always reclaim the file from there.
Emptying the trash includes an "are you sure" which can be configured from the folders settings pane:
Launch->Preferences->Desktop Preferences->Folders and pick the "Behaviour" tab
If you mean you want the double check made in a terminal or console displayed within JDS, as opposed to using the file browser, then you need to place a suitable command in the configuration for the shell you're using e.g. .profile or .cshrc etc.

Marie, Bounce doesn't work, in fact it let's them know it's a working address for somebody on the other end.
You might also start training Mail to learn it's Junk, by marking it so in Mail rather than moving it, & of course enabling it in Preferences>Junk Mail.
Not certain, but this can fix myriad Mail problems...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move this folder & file to the Desktop.
Move this Folder to the Desktop...

Move this file to the Desktop...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index
Reboot.
If that doesn't do it and you can afford to redo all your Rules, try these & reboot...

How to make desktop items stay in same position?

I notice that on reboot and at other times, the icons on my desktop move around. Mostly it's the disk drives - I'd like them to stay in one place on the desktop, in particular the internal disk and a few external drives to be in a vertical column on the right edge of the screen. I found some solutions for OS9 and Tiger (save/restore desktop state). But oddly none are for Panther. Does anyone know a trick in 10.3 to make things stay where I put them?!?

Click on the Desktop then select Show View Options from the Finder's View menu. Check the box labeled "Snap to Grid". If you prefer Desktop items be arranged alphabetically you can also select Name from the Arrange By drop down menu.
