How do I make a duplicate of a photo to edit on my iPhone or iPad. I want to use an editing app to add effects but want to keep the original thanks!

I had done that but it doesn't seem to do anything. I press copy, the pop up closes and I don't see a copy in the camera roll. What's the best way to keep the original when making edits with apps like Instagram or camera bag?

If you didn't want a photo or photos transferred from your computer to your iPhone in the first place, why did you transfer the photo or photos? And since you should be syncing your iPhone with iTunes often, what difference does it make? If you need space on your iPhone for some reason, you can delete a movie direct from your iPhond that was transferred from your iTunes library to free up much more space with a single swipe than a few photos that you chose to be transferred from your computer.

Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your phone. Only if you back up manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
Do this:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your phone to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your device without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your phone for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the iPhone for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.

Hello! i am 15 years old and i am already starting for a "portofolio" (not sure how to say it in english) for my school i want to go next 2 years, i am enjoying adobe products like photoshop and after effects,
i am right now working on a "kinetic typography" video, but i am wondering how to make a jiggly/bouncing camera like in this video:

These are not generic wiggle or bounce effects. I have a bunch of expressions that I use to add bounce to a move. I think that's what's going on here. They help a lot. I have created a personal library of these custom effects and saved them as animation presets. Lots of them are based on the in and out point of a layer so there's no keyframing involved at all. I just create a text layer, position it where I want it to end up and apply my fly in from the left and drop out preset. I then adjust the in and out point of the layer and I'm ready to move on to the next part.
Click here for my fly in bounce drop out preset. Save it to your AE User Effects and presets library, and try applying it to a 2 second long text layer. Adjust the look with the sliders. When you build something you like learn how to save it as a preset and you will be well on your way to building a library of tools that will save you a ton of time. I've got more than 200 of these just for motion and the list grows with every project.

The camera roll is not part of the sync process at all.
You should be importing these photos to your computer regularly as you would with any digital camera. Youc an organize them on your computer and sync the to the iphone if you wish.
The photos sync from the computer to the iphone is one way.
The iphone mirrors the selected content of the computer to which it is synced.

The way that I understand that it works, is that the photos are not copied into the new albums, instead it just points to the photos - the number of photos on the iPad in Settings > General > About doesn't increase when you create new album so I assume from that that it isn't copying the photo, just pointing to it. So if you delete the photo from the camera roll you will therefore also be deleting all the pointers to it

The only way to delete photos NOT in the camera roll is to sync the phone with those photos deselcted.
@iLikeCheesyStuff: The photo stream photos are in the camera roll as well. The OP is referring to photos synced to his phone, which can't be deleted directly on the phone.

I didn't have to use proprietary iTune software.
Something Apple failed miserably to allow in it's iPhone.
In your opinion but regardless, it is what it is. The requirements for the iPhone are not kept secret and if the requirements were not acceptable to you, you should not have purchased one.
When your iPhone includes photos that were captured by your iPhone, it is also detected as a digital camera when connected to your computer, which has nothing to do with iTunes.
So the question still remains...
What do you do on an iPhone with "Windoze" to get you Camera Roll pix from you phone onto your computer, other than emailing each and every one separately via email.
The answer remains the same.
If you choose not to use the camera and scanner wizard, your iPhone should be available in Explorer when connected as a connected drive where you can drag photos that were captured by your iPhone to the desired location on your hard drive.

You cannot do that, but could create a "Shared Photo Stream" by going to your camera roll, pressing the button "select" then selecting some photos, then clicking on the little arrow in the lower left corner, and pressing the iCloud icon.

I've searched about 5 different ways here on the forums and can't find an answer to this question. I recently upgraded my iPhone 3Gs to an iPhone 4. I backed up the old phone and just sold it a couple of days ago. Here's my problem: I can't find the folder containing my (old) camera roll photos so I can sync them to my new iPhone. I'm aware that iTunes doesn't back up camera roll photos, however I understand they are saved as part of the standard backup process. Are they included in the "iPod Photo Cache" and, if so, can I use this to copy them onto my new phone? Note that I was unaware until today that I can save camera roll photos on my PC using Windows Camera and Scanner or Adobe Photoshop; I'll start doing that tonight so I'll have them in a separate folder from now on. I'm running Windows Vista on my PC, FYI.

No. If you restore your new phone from a previous backup, all data on your phone will be erased & replaced with the data from your backup. However, if you don't want to do that you can see if this will recover the photos in question from your 3GS backup:

I have just got my new iPhone 4 and I'm very happy with it, really a great step-up from my old 3G. I do have one question though, in my old iPhone 3G I have about 300 photos in the camera and I would like to export them and then import them to the camera roll in my new iPhone 4...is this possible?

Only if you restore your new phone from the backup of your old phone. Camera roll photos are included in your iphone backup. However, its not wise to keep photos in your camera roll. They should be imported to your computer on a regular basis. From there, you can then sync them back to your phone, but not back to your camera roll.
