I have a new windows computer running 64 bit Windows 7. When I click on import favourites from another browser all the right actions appear to happen but there are no favourites there when I open the bookmarks toolbar and tab.I have looked at the suggested solutions for similar problems and not been able to make any of them work.

Did you try HTML file option ?

  • How could I use FAVOURITES imported from Internet Explorer

    I use Google Chrome. However I get adverts, which obstruct my work. As I cannot get rid of these adverts, I want to try Mozilla Firefox. I have imported favorites from Internet Explorer but I do not know how to use them. I do not see any button or icon for this purpose. I should be grateful for your help.

    Web page have ads, and there are add-ons to suppress some of those if you find them troublesome.
    Bad add-ons can inject additional ads into pages. Sometimes some "freeware" you install can include these ad injectors which then infect all of your browsers. If you suspect anything along those lines, here's my suggested procedure for tracking down and cleaning out bad add-ons. Sorry for the length -- it's not as bad as it sounds:
    (1) Open the Windows '''Control Panel''', Uninstall a Program. After the list loads, click the "Installed on" column heading to group the infections, I mean, additions, by date. This can help in smoking out undisclosed bundle items that snuck in with some software you agreed to install. Take out as much trash as possible here.
    (2) Open Firefox's '''Add-ons page''' using either:
    * Ctrl+Shift+a
    * "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
    In the left column, click '''Plugins'''. Set nonessential and unrecognized plugins to "Never Activate".
    In the left column, click '''Extensions'''. Then, if in doubt, disable (or Remove, if possible) unrecognized and unwanted extensions.
    Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
    Any improvement?
    (3) You can search for remaining issues with the '''scanning/cleaning tools''' listed in our support article: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware]]. These on-demand scanners are free and take considerable time to run. If they finish quickly and especially if they require payment, you may have a serious infection. I suggest the specialized forums listed in the article in that case.

  • How to make ENTER key in internet explorer run the  BIP report?

    In BI publisher 11g, users wanted that after entering the values for the parameter, they hit the ENTER key ( on the keyboard)  and the report should run .
    In Mozilla firefox, when I hit ENTER key on the keyboard report runs fine... but in Internet explorer, it does not ( infact in internet explorer TAB key works)
    How to make ENTER key in internet explorer run the report?
    Thanks

    Perform the following steps and tell us if it  resolve this issue:
    1. In Internet Explorer, click Tools, and then click Internet Options.
    2. Click the Security tab.
    3. There are four security zones listed:
    * Internet
    * Local intranet
    * Trusted sites
    * Restricted sites
    Click the zone being used by P6, which is noted at the bottom right hand corner of the browser window when the P6 URL is being accessed.
    4. Under Security level for this zone, click Custom Level.
    5. Under Downloads, under Automatic prompting for file downloads, click Enable, and then click OK two times.
    6. The browser will need to be restarted for the change to take effect.

  • Why does firefox only transfer one of my favourite folders from Internet Explorer and that one is empty

    I have downloaded and installed the latest version of firefox and when asked if I wanted to transfer my stuff from Internet explorer I did so but firefox only transferred one favorite folder and that was empty. I have even tried to do this from the firefox toolbar with the same result

    Not sure what happened there, but you could try the alternate method.
    This involves three steps:
    # export your favorites from IE to an HTML-format file
    # import that HTML-format into Firefox bookmarks
    # move the imported favorites/bookmarks from the import folder to the desired location on the menu

  • I have followed "Importing favorites and other data from Internet Explorer" but although I've worked through the dtages and it says it has worked, the expected internet explorer folder does not appear in bookmarks

    I have installed Firefox today, and like the look of and the speed. But I have an extensive set of foldersin my IE Favorites and remebered passwords I don't want to have to reimput.
    I have now tried twice folowing "Importing favorites and other data from Internet Explorer " which seemed to go smoothly, once with IE open and the other with it closed, and closed down my PC between each attempted installation. Any ideas?

    It usually works better if you export the Favorites in IE to an HTML file and import that file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.
    * Export the favorites in IE to an HTML file (bookmarks.html): File > Import and Export
    * Import the HTML file in Firefox: Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import HTML: From File
    See also http://kb.mozillazine.org/Import_bookmarks ("Import from another browser" and "Import from file")

  • After downloading Firefox, it goes to a site called Sweet IM Search. I have to go to AT&T's home page. Why isn't it going directly to AT&T? Also, when I add to Bookmarks, it doesn't take it. It pulls up bookmarks from Internet Explorer when I had it.

    # * Numbered list item
    Also, I've added bookmarks. I add a site to my bookmarks, it takes it, but later it's not there. It shows it under Internet Explorer when I had it.

  • How come my linkdin profile from Internet Explorer is different in Firefox?

    I have more connection, endorsements, and recommendation when I use Internet Explore then when I go into Linkedin using mozilla. Why is that? Shouldn't they be the same?
    I have a Super Star rating using Internet Explore ...I have a starters rating using Mozilla.

    When I am on a PC with IE11 I'll take a look. But I'll be looking at the edit screen for my own profile, since obviously I do not have permission to edit yours!
    Do you want to post comparison screen shots pointing out the areas of difference? You can cut out personal information that should not appear on a public forum. Either PNG or JPG format is good (when photographs are included, JPG compression is better, otherwise PNG compression is cleaner).
    Also, in case you have different add-ons between the two browsers, do you want to test in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
    You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:
    * "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    * Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still run
    After Firefox shuts down, a small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset).
    Any difference, or should I say, any less difference?

  • How do I move bookmarks imported from internet explorer from the folder so they show when I click Bookmarks

    The imported bookmarks are in a folder whereas if I create a new bookmark in Firefox it just appears when I click bookmarks. How please can I move the IE ones over?

    Are they already in the Bookmarks Manager, or are you getting ready?
    The Bookmarks Manager works just like the file browser on the computer.
    Bookmarks (files) can be moved, or removed the same way.

  • How to get current URL from Internet Explorer ?

    Hi,
    I have design an add-on for IE and I'm
    trying to get URL from IE which is currently opened that is which is currently user sees. Is there any way to get it? I want to store that address in label and use it for something useful. Is it possible with C# ?
    I have did the following code to get current URL but it showing last opened URL instead of current URL which is user see
    using SHDocVw;
           SHDocVw.ShellWindows shellWindows = new SHDocVw.ShellWindows();
                         string filename;
                         foreach (SHDocVw.InternetExplorer ie in shellWindows)
                             filename = Path.GetFileNameWithoutExtension(ie.FullName).ToLower();
                             if (filename.Equals("iexplore"))
                               label1.Text=ie.LocationURL;
                               label1.Text = ie.LocationName;
    and I have tried this one also
    foreach (InternetExplorer ie innew ShellWindows())
       label1.Text = ie.LocationURL.ToString();
       label2.Text = ie.LocationName.ToString();
    Please give me any suggestion or code to solve this problem.
    Thanks.
    Priyanka

    You already got addon running in the active ie instance. You just need to catch the WindowStateChanged event in every instance so you can write down the last event with OLECMDIDF_WINDOWSTATE_USERVISIBLE somewhere. When you need the active IE instance, just
    pull from your save.
    Note an IE tab may crash and take your addon with it. It is better to start a broker process to store your global data.

  • How can I delete a duplicated import of bookmarks from Internet Explorer.

    Somehow I imported my IE Favorites to Firefox twice. The one 'From Internet Explorer' folder contains all the IE sub-folders but does not show any individual Bookmarks contained in them. How can I delete this 'From Internet Explorer' folder and its contents. The 'delete' and the 'cut' functions do not work. The other import from IE works fine.

    Open the Photos app; open an album or camera roll or wherver you want to delete photos from. Tap the arrow at top right. Selct the photos you want to delete by tapping them, then tap the delete button

  • Firefox will not import all of the favorites from Internet Explorer 11 in Windows 8.1 64-bit OS!

    There is another post about this problem in the forum, but the answer does not work. This is the first time I've ever encountered this problem when installing/using Firefox on my desktop PC. I have a new (3/25/14) Dell XPS 8700 desktop tower with Windows 8.1 64-bit (and now Update 1) installed, along with Internet Explorer 11. I previously had a 2005 Dell Dimension 5100 desktop tower running XP Pro SP3 32-bit, which never had any issues running Firefox, but has since died. I used to run Firefox as my default browser, but not any longer. Now, during the install process, Firefox asks if you want to import from Internet Explorer, as it has always done before. I chose yes, and it reported that it pulled everything in from IE. However, it only imported my favorites folders whose names start with a numeral, and then A, B, and onward down the alphabet, but it doesn't import anything more after getting to the folders whose names start with E. So, all of my remaining Favorites folders whose names start with F, G, and forward down the alphabet from there are all absent from Firefox's Bookmarks. I also tried importing the favorites after installing Firefox, which I don't prefer since Firefox installs a folder called Internet Explorer to go to first to get to your favorites. However, still, Firefox only brought in my favorites folders from A to E, and stopped there again. I do not see any way to export my favorites from Internet Explorer (there is no import/export option under favorites, nor anywhere else in IE 11). Uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox resulted in the same problem, even after making sure to delete my settings, etc., in the process. Please update Firefox's installation executable so it's able to import ALL of Internet Explorer 11's favorites folders and their contents, complete, as it has always done before. Please contact me when the corrected executable to install Firefox properly is ready for download. Thank you.

    If there are problems with importing the IE Favorites in Firefox then export the favorites in IE to an HTML file and import that file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.
    If you do not have the menu bar in IE then right-click the toolbar at the top to enable the Menu Bar.
    *Export the favorites in IE to an HTML file (bookmarks.html):<br>File > Import and Export
    *Import the HTML file in Firefox:<br>Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import Bookmarks from HTML
    See "Import from another browser" and "Import from file":

  • Running SAPGUI from Internet Explorer....

    Hi Gurus,
         I would like to get the tech know-how of running SAP GUI from Internet Explorer.  I am basically a functional consultant, but like to explore in both func. and tech.  Please do reply if any option is there..  Thanks in Advance...
    Regards,

    SAP GUI doesn't run on IE. In case you want to know CRM Web UI, then you can run it from the transaction CRM_UI and then the browser will open on the IE, this transaction is available from CRM 7.0 onwards. Incase you are below that version please use the transaction BSP_WD_CMPWB and then test the component CRM_UI_FRAME.

  • How do I get the imported favorites to appear as normal and not in a subfolder called "From Internet Explorer"?

    I successfully imported my favorites/bookmarks from IE to Firefox but they show up as a subfolder called "From Internet Explorer". Since I live on the computer 8 - 12 hours a day using my favorites that's additional clicks standing in the way of getting where I want to be...thus I keep going back to IE even though it doesn't work as well as Firefox....

    You can drag them out of that folder (or use Cut & Paste) in the Bookmarks Manager (Library) to a more convenient position.

    I want to import bookmarks from Internet Explorer 8, but the import link under file in Firefox is ghosted out and doesn't allow me access. How can I access the Firefox import function?

    A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
